As some observant members have already noticed, VAF Research has recognised StereoNET and it's members, and become an official sponsor.

Philip Vafiadis, Founder and CEO of VAF had this to say:

On behalf of VAF Research I’m pleased to formally sponsor Stereo Net Australia.

VAF Research has a clear set of values around our purpose, our loudspeakers and our products - the close relationships we maintain with owners of our products has helped to protect those values, and to communicate them to people who may resonate with them.

While VAF Research was founded thirty one years ago in 1978, www.vaf.com.au began early in web time, back in 1994. We built a great company and Brand on a philosophy of direct communications with owners of our products, and connecting people with common needs or values, and of course our own passion and vision around our own products.

Since becoming a member here at SNA some time ago myself, I noticed a tight community of regular posters along with obvious personal interest and commitment from Marc, SNA’s administrator – this is interesting, and in the current webscape of audio sites, its also precious - Marc and SNA deserve our respect and support.

High quality audio is a subset of a much larger industry, it is also the space that VAF Research operates within, and is self evidently a passion for many of the regulars here including myself.

With this said, this forum and the internet itself are not static – they evolve, they change. There are other forums out there, some good ones, but right now SNA is unique in Australia - and my mind turns to how best to support this, to nurture this.

Sponsorship of VAF Research is only a small part of this, responsible participation by us - all of us - is the much larger part.

For VAF Research this means only posting in ways appropriate for those with commercial interests.

For me personally, it means posting as an individual, but with clear identification of my potential commercial interests. It also means doing what I can to encourage more audio enthusiasts to join SNA, to make SNA their principal community for their interest in audio.

I won’t take up anyone’s time now with pages about VAF Research and our loudspeakers – I’ll just make a few points for those who don’t already know:

Details about VAF Research and our products can be found at www.vaf.com.au or right here in SNA or at vaf@vaf.com.au by simply asking.

For those who don’t know VAF Research though, we are proud that many SNA members are already owners of our loudspeakers, along with the Conservatory of Music, nine ABC studio’s, both the Broadcast Studio’s at Parliament House Canberra, and many many more icon organizations along with our loudspeakers being used in the critical quality control of sound for over 3000 major feature DVD’s & Bluray titles (and growing).

Lastly, our sales have been direct to user. Our new SoundWall however needs to be experienced to be truly appreciated so we have now opened up reference sites in Sydney and Melbourne. The first Melbourne reference site (Clef Hi-Fi) is also rebuilding their showrooms to showcase our loudspeakers along with our SoundWall. Others are already in line to follow very soon.

VAF Research will be hosting a number of national releases at these reference sites soon, so I hope to meet SNA members in person at these events over the next couple of months.

With my thanks again to Marc and SNA, and with my kind regards,

Philip Vafiadis

Founder and CEO www.vaf.com.au

Co-Founder www.zenhomeenergy.com

Founder IPPV

I think the above words are testament to Philip's good nature, industry dedication and above all, willing to be pro-active in a somewhat challenging climate.

Thank you to VAF for your support, and we look forward to your contributions to StereoNET Australia.

Excellent news Marc, and I would like to personally welcome VAF Research as another SNA Sponsor. We have a geat community here and it is fitting that the forum has more representation from the broader industry.

Great to have you officially on board Phil.

I have already jumped the gun - but must say Phil has already been a big supporter of SNA through hosting 2 very well attended and very much enjoyed local tours/demo's of his shop front.

More importantly at these events he gave up his personal time on two Sunday's and was prepared to share his personal views and insights into some important areas audio.

Most striking for me was Phil's willingness to postively recognise other manufacturers and developers, to work with audio engineers, and support artists.

I am sure whilst the financial support of Marc and the web site is important - perhaps the more signficant value for SNA will be the other less measurable inputs Phil can make through hosting events and the sharing of his networks and knowledge.

PS Yes I do own some of Phil's product currently - some second hand VAF DCX - but I'll be sadly selling these as i have fallen in love with my vintage Wharfedale Airdales - I do however think he makes a great product.

A great introduction and hopefully a great and long association. I feel all warm inside knowing that I'm fortunate enough to be able to join in and post on a forum that has the backing of so many great Aussie companies and their products.

Good one Philip and Marc

Well done Philip and welcome.

Having met you and chatted with you on several occasions now your passion for audio and music in general cannot be denied, it's clear you are in the industry for the greater good and not just to make a buck which is very refreshing.

If anyone in Adelaide has not visited the vaf showroom and met Philip I highly recommend it, Philip is very approachable and affable and you will definitely be glad you did.

Thank you all for your warm welcome.

Part of our thinking in sponsorship is of course commercial, however I am also keen to help foster growth in this specialist audio space - and a better understanding within it too - I look forward to learning and sharing understanding.

For those who don't already know, my thinking is generally evidenced based, and built around direct experience. Knowledge by itself is meaningless. Knowledge tested against specific cercumstances leads to understanding.

Nice one Philip .

I just joined this site today and bought my first DC-X in early 1997 in Churchill Rd. I always liked your approach at the time for not pushing me to buy a new Amplifier and sticking with my Hafler DH 200 to pump the DC-X. I have since added the DC7 and DC6 with a Denon AVR-2807.Hope to soon upgrade the DC-X for the DC-Xmk4 so could see you soon..Eamonn

Hey ,Ill catch up with fellow VAF users on 23Oct but in the mean time as Im looking to upgrade my 12 year old DCX to match my DC7mk4 and DC6 mk4 and using a amp Denon AVR-2807 would I benefit keeping the old DCX for a 7.0 system or sell the old DCX ??? Given my room is about 3.5 m by 7 m its a bit small to consider the jump to the 193s....

P.S What price would the second hand DCX go for????(smoke free room .no kids) Thanks
