Collecting early production CD's - my perspective and some photos.

Recommended Posts

Two CDs wot I rescued from the $1 bins this morning:

Queen - Greatest Hits -- Elektra, West Germany, Target (this is my second copy).

David Bowie - Fame & Fashion -- RCA/Victor, Japan for USA.

--Geoff

Very nice find....gotta be happy with those two

Nice pick up Geoff for $1 each I am very jealous. I had to pay the big bucks today for Neil Young Harvest, Australian pressing, in 24ct gold, $11

Manufactured & Distributed by Warner Music Australia. Glass mastered by SRC. Not on Discogs yet.

Great pick up Bluroo

Guest Sime

I've had this since it was released in the 80's, and being that it's the original German print, it's apparently worth a bit.

After that, the local release was only available. This was before Metallica it the big leagues.

Anyone know anything about it?

Sorry it's flipped the wrong way.

The add says its the two track but its not like that in the picture.

Don't you have the two track one Kab?

This disc has the 2 tracks even though it says differently.

Yes i have the 35DP 4 disc.

Its the exact same mastering for a lot less than mine.

If i did't already have my disc i would be snatching this one up.

Cheers.

Yes the WYWH 35DP-4 with obi.

The mastersound is a great sounding disc as well.

Your welcome to drop around and compare the two.

Thanks for the offer Kab you have such a collection I would like to.

Regarding WYWH on Steve Hoffman forum they seem to be about 50/50 on which they prefer.

But like the Joshua Tree you sent to me when its a good mastering its hard to notice the difference to me.

I end up going crazy on trying to listen for something better or worse

Yes i agree it can drive you nuts sometimes.

I have both pressings and i prefer the 35DP 4.

It really comes down to personnel taste.

Let me know when you want to come around i'm in West Footscray.

Cheers.

I have 60-80 CDs in the shed, buried in there for a long time. I started collecting them mid 80s...are they like LPs and worth pulling out and selling on SNA?

I kept a lot of tapes too - are they worth anything to anyone?

I found one small box in the study with Billy brag, Elliot Smith, Arlo Guthrie, Ween, Muse, Black Eyed Susans, Emiliana - i dont recall ever buying them...aint my type of stuff...must be the wifes...or maybe a previous GF...theyre going!

I tossed a lot of tapes, straight to the tip when we moved last time. Got about 25 left...not all complete, but a couple of classics, like Number of the Beast and some queen and beatles are all complete.
