New PANASONIC plasmas, how much you pay?

Recommended Posts

OK heres my story....

Went up to HN already to basically get one, and the guy told me nowhere in Australia has them in stock, and will not have stock until Late Jan. And the only reason they have it ticketed at $5413 is because thats the last one they have - ie the ticketd price is for the flor model only.

I call BS, but its interesting that he would BS about that, I was ready to lay down cash then and there on it.

So anyone got any suggestions.  Should I just find a Good Guys and go the price match option ?

this is correct , howver i was told first week on december they would be in

my friend works at the good guys hes been waiting on panas for ages , so he called panasonic in front of me and they said first week of december

What is the cheapest people in Melbourne have bought the 500A 42" for?

I know that in one of the other threads a guy in Sydney said he got his for $3500 with the extended warranty. Have we got anywhere that can match that in Vic?

I bought mine last week for $3680 delivered with the LG 4100P (or whatever it is) set dop box. They also gave me DVI->HDMI Cable and component video cables too.

it was from JB HiFi Kedron, in Brisbane.

If I didn't take the set top box it would have been about $400 cheaper...

Can anyone share the best price they've been quoted for the Panasonic TH-42PV500A

in Brisbane?

With a lot of assistance from all you posters here, I have just purchased the 500a for $3500 with some additional bits n pieces, which was a hell of a lot less than I was originally quoted to pay.

A big thank you to all and also to the forum providers for this fantastic resource!

Im after a Pana Plasma that does 1366x768.

Seen the 127cm models have it, but i would really like a 106 model.

I think my dad said he got the HD plasma with the cabinet/stand for $4050 from HN Rockhampton. Which look like a great deal and just set it up on the weekend looks fantastic. Looking at HDMI DVD players/STB ATM.

Grunter, keen ..... any tips and techniques to use that you can share about bargaining?

Hi mate,

After looking through these forums I had a pretty good idea what the going rate was. I intially rang them (JB Hifi) up and said I was interested in the Panasonic, had the money ready to go, asked them if they were willing to negotiate on price and would they make my trip down there worthwhile. They said yes, so I headed down to the store asked for the fellow I spoke to. Asked him what was his best offer and then counted with what I was prepared to pay. He counted, I agreed, paid the money, shook his hand and they delivered (included in price as well) the plasma early that evening. Great service!

I was a little nervous about the negotiation, but you just need to treat them with courteousy and be firm on your maximum price. I do have to say that the info from posters here made the decision to purchase and what price to shoot for so much easier. A great help!

I had gone into another "Home Theatre only Specialist" store, but whilst they were great with regards to information on the plasma, wouldn't knock off any more than 10% of the $4999 rrp. And without info from these forums chances are I would have gone with that price and would be out of pocket over a $1000. So make sure your prepared to walk away if your not happy.

I guess you just have to do what's been suggested here, just go in and suggest a price and stand firm on it and see who'll take it. Although, I heard people who say they got a deal from the same store and got the same thing a few weeks before for about $4800 (which seems reasonable). As long as you're not paying more than $3700 for the tv be happy.
