I must say I could not be happier with Klapp on Chapel. Picked up my 40" M81 and will definately be getting my Beyonwiz and B&W 600 series HTM from them as well. Recieved fantastic pricing and advice. I was sick of getting the "this is my cost price" spiel from the Walmart wannabe's and no knowledge of the proper HT setup. I chose Klapp after getting an honest and good appraisal of my room, viewing distance adn product comparisons.. and of course price.

I would recommend them. :)

Must add a positive review to this thread. Have been dealing with Klapp for past 1-2 years since ditching the TV showroom on Bridge Rd after 15 years buying there. My experience has been great prices, good service, and they are fine with repairs. Replying to emails can be slow, but I just call if it I want to know "right now".

Suspect it can be a case of who you get / how much you spend, but much happier with these guys than the declining service in Richmond...

Lots of single posters in this thread - treat with caution.

Very good point RodN...

I for one have been dealing with Sean and Klapp for almost 10 years and in that time I have been given some great service and more than a fair price on my purchases.

For every person here that has been dissatisfied with Klapp or the service they have received, I can probably give you 10 that have received great service from them.

Keep in mind that this is a boutique specialist retailer, not a box-moving discount store and attracts an entirely different market of consumers

The amount of tyre kicking time wasters they would get flowing in from the local JB would drive anyone crazy

And also keep in mind we all have bad days and sometimes say and do things that on a different day we may not...

For the record I have just upgraded my panel to a 50” and was more than happy with the price and service I received.

Was not sure where to post this but I thought I should relay my experience to other potential buyers.

I am about to purchase a new LCD TV and I was keen to purchase from Klapp they are close by and have been there for a long time and had been into the shop been treated well and they seemed to know whay they were talking about.

However on a recent visit to a Large consumer store they had the TV we had kind of decided on for a great price, 32" Grundig LCD Xentia for $4000. We decided well $500 is $500 I will call them and see if they can at least get close and we will go with Klapp even if they are a little more expensive.

I called them on the phone and said 32" Grundig Xentia I can get it for $4000 can you at least get close to it and I was told "Yep no problems we will do it for $3500" I was a bit taken aback by this and I said are you sure ? 32" not the 26", but no that was the price.

I took 2 days to double check things but then on a green guide day saw the Klapp advertisement which had 32" Xentia for $4500, so I called back and said, "look what is going on you said 3500 for the 32" are you sure, im confused, he said no come in we will do it for $3500.

this part of the story is my fault for being trusting or I dont know what.

I called the other store, and said no look it is ok thanks for your help.

I was then told on my purchase trip into Klapp, sorry "XXXXX" is not here but he told us you were coming in for the 32" Xentia at $4500. Well it all went donwhill from there, 3 days I was stuffed around for and I did not appreciate it and I told them so, the offered too match the $4000 but at this stage it was not about money, I had just lost total faith in them.

so I have ended up going back to the first store and am quite happy to pay $4500 to them as their sale is no longer on and I told that to them as well, but they were very apathetic about it and there response was basically "Ok, no problems, do whatever you like"

so partially my fault and I accept that, buyer beware and never take a telephone call for anything more than that. It was a very disappointing saga, I just thought for a local store they may have operated a little bit better than that.

Hopefully just happens to this sucker.

Hi,

I just bought some B&W speakers today from Klapps and was pleased with their service. I went to the Balwyn store. Good setup and everything work with their demo setup. My speakers should arrive next week so hopefully all will be ok.

I went to a number of shops and one in particular had dreadful service - a large dealer in the Melbourne eastern suburbs near Mitcham. I'd been there before and wasn't impressed but was hoping it was an anomaly. But no, I was correct. I found them deceptive, rude, arrogant and the sales person seemed to have a personality disorder.

I found Klapps straightforward and reasonable.

I hope that continues to be my experience! Kind regards,
