Today Show

The PQ of Today which has a new set / studio is amazing well done 9, everyone at the Seven Network should be forced to watch it to see HD properly.

On another note Seven is back to its mediocrity again, fancy showing shots of Sydney Harbour displayed over the news readers shoulder from a Plasma it looks absolutely revolting evertything is blury,Seven simply have lost the plot.

The today show sucks, too formal. I quite like the Sunrise crew, focusing on the positive stories, a bit a laugh, quite relaxed as well. Also, why did the today show go back to 7am and bring back the morning news, what was the point of that???

I was like oHh so tahts the PQ, how dull... Must a WIN thing, and yes I went a little crazy and took 28 captures...

The trick is to record it then just after the show comes back from the ads you can make a cap with no watermark, time, today bar or news bar.

I assure you captures made are of the highest quality, manually deinterlaced aswell for highest resolution

I like the ch9 set, but the window is causing blown out highlights in the picture. They need to tone down the bright sunlight coming into the window.

I thought the dogs were cute. Karl Stefanovic was playing fetch with a rag doll through out the show and as a joke the new weathergirl Steve Jacobs grabbed the doll with his teeth and brought it to Karl.

I can't stand David Koch anymore so I'm enjoying the new ch9 Today show.

Sunrise is cool - its if you dont care what your watching in the morning, just something to keep you entertained. Today show is for people who constantly need to hear news and stories.

I also feel they need to do something urgently with that window of theirs, I am suprised the camera's are doing such a good job with that amount of light directly behind the presenters faces. I am also glad Steve is gone, he made the Today show what it was, and now he is gone its like a new fresh start.

The dogs piss me off, its like they are acting cute and funny but fail. Sunrise team are actually funny, Today team are just fake and bad actors.

Steve gone, now for tracy!

And the positive vibe and 'spread the love' campaign are fantastic on Sunrise, we need more of it. Some forum members should take to note to being postive towards others (except when WIN is involved!)

And surely the ticker bar text is not as bad as WIN's?

It's Traceys dog. Must be bring your pet to work week. I noticed yesterday it was staring out the window, transfixed by the rotor blades on the chooper outside. When they returned from an ad break, the blinds had been pulled down, probably because Steve Jacobs had joined in. It's going to be difficult telling those two apart.

Here are a few HD caps:

I didn't know they changed the start of Today back to 7am (from 6am) so I didn't get much capped.

Note that only studio shots are HD. The graphics are SD upconverted.

Caps @ SD resolution:

I did that exact same thing just yesterday ... I was wondering why the show wasn't in HD as I had jumped to that part where they doing the "Coming up on Today..." which is upconverted. I would have thought this was a bad move losing people to Sunrise.

Ok I'm no fan of news tickers, but why are they suddenly twice as high as they need to be? Surely they leave enough room for overscan as it is.

On my 68cm 4:3 analogue tv, you already have a good inch of letterboxing on the top and bottom, then a news ticker running along the bottom, with the bottom inch of that being black.

wait til someone thinks of a subnews ticker that explains in detail what the news ticker is talking about then the stockmarket ticker on top of that, then the competition ticker, oh wait I saw it on CNNNN 2 years ago

I would have thought it was obvious.....

It's 14:9 letterboxed on analog 4:3, BUT what happens when you watch the 16:9 digital broadcast on a 16:9 monitor WITH OVERSCAN?? It looks perfect.

With 14:9 letterbox on 4:3 screens, you're seeing ALL the image area down to the very bottom of the originating 16:9 studio frame, extra black and all. This is covered up to an extent by a 16:9 CRT.

Craig.

It's true and The program has been moved back to the 6am timeslot. THe re was a article in Sydney's Daily Telegraph saying that Saron will be replacing Leila for the news.
