anthonysimilion
Ten HD is still an excellent and certainly welcome improvement on SD. Nine HD is better - but you've got the right idea LBM, just enjoy it! 576p though, that's a different story.
DavoNogo
I can't say I'm a fan of HD Lite. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> gee.. ya think? DavoNogo looks at Champion_R's sig
lawyer1990
Did anyone happen to record tonight's episode "Rosetta" in HD .tp format. I unfortunately missed it and I'm after an untouched copy in HD. If anyone could help, I'd be willing to compensate you for your troubles. PM Me if you're interested in a deal. DavoNogo
Didi anyone happen to record tonight's episode? I came home tonight hoping I'd be able to watch it from the start and see that my sister somehow stuffed up the recording

Ingram
NOOOOOOOOOoooooooooo Channel Ten are doing what Nine did. They are editing out the BAD bits! Just then Lana knocked a guy onto a pitchfork hanging on the wall. You are meant to see the spikes sticking out from his chest but Ten cut it out. So you don't exactly understand how he died. Without knowing he landed on a spike the scene is totally confusing.
HoffY
That does indeed suck. I guessed as much re the death... but there should be no editing.. ggrr Anyone viewing smallville in wide bay region? I seem to be having lots of problems with SC10 (for the past year its been doing this intermittently. the channel cant lock/play properly on my Fusion card.. it errors and bails out after a few seconds. But then one week at a random time i try to play SC10 it'll just be as normal.. really REALLY annoying.)
DrP
Just then Lana knocked a guy onto a pitchfork hanging on the wall. Same problem as 9 had. Clearly Smallville is not a show for the younger people out there, yet both 9 and now 10 persist in showing it in an early time slot, so they have no choice but to chop out the nasty bits or suffer an avalanche of calls from 'concerned parents' about the content. Yeah that was really annoying - I worked it out thanks to the blood coming from his mouth but I was confused for about 15 secs not knowing what actually happened to him. Ingram
Another possibility is Ten got the copies from Nine already edited? I'm not sure.

LBM
I couldn't care less what they do to it - at least we get to see it, in HD, twice a week. If they have to remove a pointless scene to fit it at 7:30pm then so be it.
Ingram
A pointless scene that establishes the overall story and causes much confusion without it?

I noticed that too, and I had just watched all of series 3 on DVD which I bought at Christmas (I bought all 3 seasons and am now either waiting for season 4 on DVD or TEN to hurry and show it), and I was certain that you saw the pitchfork show through his chest, but on 10 you didn't which was a bit of a bummer. I am just glad that Smallville is finally being shown on Aussie TV again. Does anyone know/have a guess when season 4 will be out on DVD?
lawyer1990
To have a complete understanding of the story would be to purchase the SD DVDs and which would sacrifice the HD quality or move to America and watch Warner Bros.
Ingram
Or watch it on channel BT which many did roughly 2-3 years ago As for S4 DVD's most likely right after Ten finish airing season 4.
lawyer1990
How is the Smallville quality on DVDs? I think DVD is a good compromise over FTA HD as you get it straight from the studio with extras, Dolby digital surround and good video quality and no watermark. Ingram
Quality is excellent. But it's only 2.0 DD
DavoNogo
There's no watermark on Ten HD either... quality is ten times better than DVD (if not, more), and audio is also DD 2.0... apart from a minor edit, FTA HD wins, unless you're really bored and absolutely love DVD extras (which are the biggest waste of time IMHO)

The minor edit should not occur as a show like Smallville is worthy of an 8:30 pm timeslot or at least encore the uncut episode late at night for those who are dedicated fans. DavoNogo
the only thing I can think of is the audio of Ten HD is 256kbps, whereas the DVD would be 384kbps or 448kbps.

For Smallville Season 2 the DVD DD 2.0 bitrate is 192kbps but I'm not sure of season 3. http://www.michaeldvd.com.au/Reviews/Reviews.asp?ID=5826
DavoNogo
in that case, I can't think of any reason why Ten's DD2.0 would sound rubbish in comparison to the DVD
