Problem is that i'm working from a complete blank sheet and need to hone down what cart will best suit my tt/tonearm/phono and music style....... oh and that annoying little thing called your budget Should be straight forward eh? I hear great things about Lyra, but it's only one of many and i'm right at the start of my selection phase. Anyway, my Lyra Kleos may still be a couple of months from returning to Australia as a "new" cartridge (takes forever for Lyra to hand-rebuild these things). At $4.5K instead of $6K, maybe the Kleos will allow you to budget the other parts of the system differently, if it turns out that the Kleos hits your sweet spot for performance. In my limited experience, at $6000 it is the most detailed cartridge in its price range while not sounding analytical or sterile in any way. The Kleos loses out to much more expensive Lyra cartridges especially with their amazing bass which just seems limitless, but there aren't many other cartridges out there at any price which present the music in as compelling a way as the Kleos. Shane it sounds a lot better than the Kuzma. It really is a great sounding deck. This one had the full treatment from True Point Audio in the UK. The arm did not come from True Point. The arm that came with it is off with Mark Döhmann getting the full treatment. 2 minutes ago, PKay said: Shane it sounds a lot better than the Kuzma. It really is a great sounding deck. rossb 1,439
PTP Solid 9 has just arrived today, set up with Rega RB808 and Ortofon Cadenza Bronze. I had been planning to use my Audio Origami PU7 on it but unfortunately the armboard is drilled incorrectly. Nevertheless, first impressions are very positive. 9

Warren Jones 284
When the Left SP10 was in its chassis the Linear tracker whipped it good. With the modifications the roles are reversed. The LTA still does better with click and pops, but the noise floor between them now is too close to call. The SP10 Signature has far greater detail. My setup is similar to a friends (except his has a Stainless/Delrin platter) and his mk2 out performs his SP10R, it's that good. I have a new servo driven Linear to go on the Signature still in the works. SP10 mods are Resin Bentonite plinth Remote electronics Modified motor rotor to increase rigidity, other damping mods coming Motor redrilled for 3 mounting bolts. Bearing brace Gunmetal Delrin platter from the other SP10. I have another GM/Delrin platter in the works with thicker Delrin. EPA100 New brass CW stub Stainless CW on threaded stub with locking collar Fluid damping trough. Edited February 16 by Warren Jones 1

Bought it stock standard and have since done various tweeks. It's a very sweet sounding table. Tweaks as follows :- Incognito silver cardas rewire, Rega 24v motor with PSU upgrade, Tango Spinner adjustable feet, brass dual pulley, silicon belts, Delrin/Aluminium platter, VLT bearing housing, Subplatter, record clamp. Groove Tracer under slung counter weight. Have run Rega Exact, Ortofon 2M Red, 2M Black and currently DV 17DX. Really love what the DV brings out of the grooves. Big shout out to Gus from Tango Spinner as well. The nicest guy to deal with. My last additions were the platter, bearing housing and pulley, belts and clamp. Sent from Argentina on the 20th Jan and arrived at the door today. Would have been yesterday if not for the public holiday. Great service. Lovely. I'm planning many of the same mods to my RP40 and I'm currently waiting on a delivery from TS as I write this. The exceptions I'm making however, are to a Michell Tecnoweight, Michell delrin clamp, Isoacoustics Orea footers and a dedicated TT stand. I have a soft spot for DV stuff too and recently added a P75mk4 stage in prep for a 20x2L cart I'll jump at once I can liquidate some other gear. I'd shortlisted the 17D but funds just wont stretch that far. Enjoy.
