I've read quite a few people say that the Blue is a nicer listen. I have/had the blue on my rpm5.1 and was going to upgrade to the bronze. I decoded against it on what I read then thought about going to the Black. I ended up going an Audio Technica AT150MLX which many consider better than the Black. It's very very detailed but I wouldn't call it relaxing :) It fights for your attention!

Love the 6!

Is that a bronze?
I've got one on a Debut Carbon and think it's a very full and rich sounding cartridge.

Could it potentially be a capacitance issue causing a bit of a mismatch between the cart and your phono preamp?

It is indeed.

To be fair I haven't tried it with another phono stage, which I should probably do. The built-in Rega stage is, after all, a bit Rega – if you see what I mean  :)

Haha ... exactly the problem I'm having with the Ortofon Bronze/Rega/Dynaudio combo. Basically everything in the system is fighting for attention.

When I was younger, that's exactly what I liked.

Now I'm getting old and tired I want something a bit less ... exciting :)

Must be called 'getting older'. I'm exactly the same. Used to love lively and detailed, now I'm thinking Harbeth, tubes and a nice warm cart ;)

New arm for the Kuzma - an Audio Origami PU7 (thanks @MrRogers).

This is actually a return appearance for the PU7, since I had one previously on the Kuzma and foolishly sold it (even if it did go to a very good home @PKay!). I knew it was a great sounding arm which suited my musical tastes so decided to get another one, this time in silver. The combination sounds excellent so this will be the last of my arm acquisitions for quite a long time!

It went to a good home Ross - thank you.  I had never heard of the PU7 before you mentioned and sold it to me.

It really is a great tonearm especially with your cart.

Speaking of Kuzma.....Been moving around a lot lately so haven’t had the TT set up. Finally bit the bullet today and hooked up to my second system, more fiddling around to do to dial it in and get rid of an annoying intermittent noise... but that’s tomorrow.. now some listening time.....

  • 2 weeks later...

If I can jump in here?

Just picked up the oddysey with SME V now fitted with a Cadenza bronze which will remain for a while. Was running a Rega P7.

Still fine tuning the suspension platter on the Odyssey and learning about the tonearm, but really loving the new TT.

Can I suggest that when your bank balance has recovered, you need to see how the Cadenza Bronze sounds through a 'Muse'!  :)

Have you tried the turntable with the single platter only? I found the extra platter killed a lot of the dynamics on my system.

Yeah Andy, still been thinking about it and it's on the radar.

I've done a room change with heaps of reflections, so next challenge first.

Slowly consolidating the system into something more workable for me. Will keep you posted.

I started with the single platter and added the extra platter after quite a while. I find it gives more depth and scale to music, I don’t run any damping fluid with the Unipivot Arm and that keeps things lively enough. Currently using an Audio Technica AT 150MLX cartridge which is a good tracker and a pretty nimble performer. When I hook the Kuzma up to my main system I use a Lyra Delos which is also a good match for the Kuzma.

Great sounding turntable the Stabi. If you ever get a chance you should  try the Audio Origami PU7 with yours. It is an incredibly musical combination.

Yes, I've been thinking about the PU7 recently.  Do you have any pics of your Stabi with the PU7?  Easy to fit?

Mine is black which is no longer an option (not sure why). I think silver is the only option. @MrRogers could confirm.

very easy to fit and adjust.

there are some photos that Rossb posted a little while ago of the new silver arm.

Put some new feet on today.

Bo!ng, by Funk Firm, replacing tangospinner feet.

Also a 5mm Achromat on which is replacing a clear acrylic.

How do those changes impact the sound?

@proftournesol

not sure yet, plus im rubbish at describing sound.
Played Clapton unplugged first and it really sounded special, heaps of detail. Now playing Pink Floyd's Animals and the bass sounds really good (I only have small bookshelves, Triangle Titus Ez)

Ive had the achromat on for a few days and i certainly prefer it over the acrylic i had on before.

I tried the achroplat from funk but couldnt get a flat enough one.

Edit: doubt if id be able to pick the boing feet vs other feet in a test, but the mat is a noticeable difference. Dont have the felt any more to swap for tests.

You guys have serious problems. I’m almost embarrassed to the point of reconsidering sharing, after seeing some of your insane systems. As you’ll see - I’ve gone in a completely different direction to a lot of you and chosen to assemble a budget system, from what I consider to be the peak period in vintage hi-fi. Hopefully someone here will appreciate the nostalgic appeal of an all teak wood system by some of the best British stereo component manufacturers 🤙

Well, I prefer to drive my 2013 Golf Cabrio than the '59 Beetle which was my first car.  And if there was a 2020 Golf Cabrio ... I'd drive that.  :)

Vintage is, well ... old!  (IE. not up with today's performance standards.  xD )

I'd prefer the Beetle. Not a fan of Golf drivers. Motorcycle experience.
