Some more Rega fun.

Thanks to Steve at Magna Audio in the UK for putting this armpod together. It is lead filled and weighs about 4kg. It has adjustable feet with about 5mm up/down movement for VTA adjustment, and ebony armboards for both Rega and Linn mount arms.

The original plan was for a mono cartridge, but my Cadenza mono is now on the P8 so I will use this arm for some different cartridges.

My elderly, and much loved, ProJect RPM 6sb with the Ortofon cartridge I just can't get on with :(

Still looks lovely, but ye gods is it a bit thin sound-wise.

I've read quite a few people say that the Blue is a nicer listen. I have/had the blue on my rpm5.1 and was going to upgrade to the bronze. I decoded against it on what I read then thought about going to the Black. I ended up going an Audio Technica AT150MLX which many consider better than the Black. It's very very detailed but I wouldn't call it relaxing :) It fights for your attention!

Love the 6!

Is that a bronze?
I've got one on a Debut Carbon and think it's a very full and rich sounding cartridge.

Could it potentially be a capacitance issue causing a bit of a mismatch between the cart and your phono preamp?

It is indeed.

To be fair I haven't tried it with another phono stage, which I should probably do. The built-in Rega stage is, after all, a bit Rega – if you see what I mean  :)

Haha ... exactly the problem I'm having with the Ortofon Bronze/Rega/Dynaudio combo. Basically everything in the system is fighting for attention.

When I was younger, that's exactly what I liked.

Now I'm getting old and tired I want something a bit less ... exciting :)

You mean ... when you were young, you wanted to be with a hot 25 year old ... nowadays, you'd prefer a bland 50 year old?  xD

Must be called 'getting older'. I'm exactly the same. Used to love lively and detailed, now I'm thinking Harbeth, tubes and a nice warm cart ;)

New arm for the Kuzma - an Audio Origami PU7 (thanks @MrRogers).

This is actually a return appearance for the PU7, since I had one previously on the Kuzma and foolishly sold it (even if it did go to a very good home @PKay!). I knew it was a great sounding arm which suited my musical tastes so decided to get another one, this time in silver. The combination sounds excellent so this will be the last of my arm acquisitions for quite a long time!

It went to a good home Ross - thank you.  I had never heard of the PU7 before you mentioned and sold it to me.

It really is a great tonearm especially with your cart.

Speaking of Kuzma.....Been moving around a lot lately so haven’t had the TT set up. Finally bit the bullet today and hooked up to my second system, more fiddling around to do to dial it in and get rid of an annoying intermittent noise... but that’s tomorrow.. now some listening time.....

  • 2 weeks later...

If I can jump in here?

Just picked up the oddysey with SME V now fitted with a Cadenza bronze which will remain for a while. Was running a Rega P7.

Still fine tuning the suspension platter on the Odyssey and learning about the tonearm, but really loving the new TT.

they look very impressive Anthony.  Guessing they sound even better.  Looking forward to hearing your one day post Covid.  (Before and after we hit a few vineyards)

I'd be glad to have you here John, with the added bonus of a few cellar doors within a short walk.....

Count me in. Maybe I could give John a lift over. I think Womadelaide is planned for 2021.

Very kool, Matt!  :thumb:

Can I suggest that when your bank balance has recovered, you need to see how the Cadenza Bronze sounds through a 'Muse'!  :)
