I'd be more worried about the corrosion on the back panel screws and the appearance of the rca connections. This may have spent time in a damp environment.

Duntech/ ME system cheap on Gumtree in Adelaide

Audiophile quality hi fi system. Comprises 2 Duntech Marquis speakers ( made in Adelaide by Duntech for international export and very highly rated for sound quality ), plus ME pre amp and ME power amp, plus high end Sony CD player ( X7ESD ).  $3250

Absolute bargain.

The word "rare" is over-used at ebay and usually wrongly, but seems to attract no approbrium or censure. The word "like", on the other hand, does, despite being used accurately.

But sometimes we see rare used fairly, as in these examples of Marantz power amps that I have to say are quite unfamiliar to me, even though the Esotec series is.

Importantly, they look bloody good, whatever you might say about the prices.

Attention Victorians: Technics SL1200 for $350, pickup only. If those victoristanis realised how much more they could get by packing and posting, things might be different. But there you go, manna from heaven if you're down there.

It was me :)

Listening to it all now. Very happy.

All the equipment is in great condition apart from the woofers needing refoaming.

I'm glad as I enquired early yesterday but was told it was already spoken for.

Cheers mate. I'm usually too slow!

Those speakers are bigger and heavier than they look!!!!!

I could only fit one in my car, so instead of making two trips the seller offered to take one in his car and followed me home. Lovely bloke and very kind.

I would have hired a trailer, and then needed a tow-ball on my car.

Aaargh, too much trouble. Glad now you have those tasty hi-fi bits.

Mag Sound in the City had the SM1000 on display.$4000 new I think they were. The SM10 Monobloks look like my old MA6 Monobloks. Even have the Flat tip Class A switch on the back. Front panels were different though.

Now I know why I didnt recognise them, http://audio-database.com/MARANTZ/amp/sm-10-e.html

I use to have the Alons. The Crown Princes are better.

I used to sell the whole Duntech range. I could never warm to the Marquis, although I sold a schitload of them, just plugged them into the ME 850 and the crowd went crazy.

What would you say were the differences between the Marquis and CP/Princess?

I just always found the Marquis to be dry, technical and utterly uninvolving. The CP and Princess had a more musical and approachable sound that "invited you in to listen ":

Ebay should have some way of ridding this sort of rubbish.

That's not the real price, eBay sellers put over inflated prices on items that ARE NOT CURRENTLY IN STOCK instead of ending the listing and having to re-list (more fees)

Knowing people won't purchase them at said high price, once the item is in stock the seller reduces the price.

Is common practice for eBay Business sellers when an item is out of stock and is within eBay policy.

That makes sense. Here I was thinking they were hoping to snag the sale of the century.
