I wonder if the Kia has cup holders big enough for Farmer's Union Iced coffee cartons.... SA vehicle manufacturers' In-Joke. ;)

Though not sure who is "in SA auto" anymore...

The "in-joke" among SA vehicle manufacturers was that the Mitsubishi 380 had cup holders that actually were specifically designed to fit a farmers union Iced coffee cartons. Aussie designed features in an Aussie built car for Aussie tough conditions. :)

OT--

SA is one of only two places in the world where Coke isn't the most popular purchased soft drink. Here it's Farmers' Union Iced Coffee, and in Scotland it's Irn Bru.

Really.  That much.  Same price as a Tesla Model 3 rear wheel drive sedan provided you are prepared to drive yourself.  Stinger wouldn't have a snowballs chance of ending up in my garage against that competition.

Happy to live with the 0 .6 second longer to 100 as it's naff all difference and the electric would be more lively off the mark ( if that is important to you). Throw in never having to buy petrol or oil again, powering up from the roof, future self driving upgrade should I get sick of the highway shuffle ( at a price mind you).

The poor Kia is a dinosaur before it even leaves the autoCAD. It would have a transmission tunnel for a start......and a complex transmission. Then there is all those parts.  An EV has about 6,000, a petrol car has about 30,000.   It's resale would also be as depressing as my Peugeot.  People think Kia and they think affordable.

i am sure it would be a decent for an ICE and it has its market, but it would feel like driving the past.  I would want something more for that premium.  To be fair, almost everything else at that price has a similar problem.  only thing I am wary of is the Tesla's standard rear window.....but if it works in the heat it would be awesome.

So basically this car being a Kia has nothing to do with it?  Any car other than a Tesla is a dinosaur?

And when exactly will the Tesla be available in Australia?  The Kia will be here in a couple of months...

.......um, yup. It was the price match that caught my eye. It would take something pretty special to get me paying $55k for a car.  It's not like it's a stereo or a pair of Magicos or Vivids.

I won't have the finances until 2019. Availability now is a negative not a positive.

@:) al no different than their other cars, but I’ll hold my judgement till I see the GTR. The one today is practically the same as an Optima.

...which is pretty damn good.

The Stinger has the mechanical weaponry to build on the base of the Optima, which is a good car ,albeit very conservative and aimed at an older demographic

@Sime they are only taking 2 orders per dealer per month,

a 6 month wait for orders represents a grand total of 12 cars !!!

yup, its an old Korean marketing smoke and mirrors trick

I don't often agree with MY...but in this instance he is right...

Kia are using an age old marketing hype program here...

Limit supply & price gouge ...err attract a premium...

Kia are trying to re-position from cheap & cheerful...

To Golf GTI competitor...with a Kardashian body...

Best of luck with that...they will need it...
