The Bluesman 495 Posted June 29 I remember I was down at a Ford dealership back in 1988, a feller was down there with a genuine phase 2 XW Falcon (red) negotiating with the salesmen for a clean swap for a brand new XF falcon, now that XF would be worth $500 tops and the XW Phase 2 would be worth at least $500,000, still spins me out these days thinking of it and that feller would be kicking himself
blakey72 978 Posted July 30 I sold my Series 2 RX2 13b turbo in 1996 for $6k. Now I'd get about $60k+ for it. I have a hand built 302 V8 Tickford XR8 Ute but it doesn't come close to the rotary. Fast enough for the street but you don't feel the G's like in the 13b.
SkipEsquire 422 Posted July 31 Was my first car when I was on my L plates in 2005.. HR special. The bloke I bought it off's mum won it in a raffle in 1967. Had all the fancy bits 186S with a nice Holley and a lumpy cam, disc brake front end, Premier interior with 6 ashtrays.. And yet for some reason still had 3-on-the-tree crashbox.. As a 17 yr old I wasn't about that non-synchro life. Pretty much had to come to a dead stop at every intersection and ge it back in first since the cam made it run like a pig at low RPMs in 2nd gear. I did buy a commodore 5 speed that never got put in, ended up finding an EH panelvan (my dream car since primary school) a few months after buying this so I sold this for double what I paid to a very nice bloke from Victoria. Some other honourable mentions that have left the family stable include the HQ monaro dad bought 'for me' when I was born; And the Gemini wagon I couldn't get re-registered in NSW after living in QLD for a year
DRC 900 Posted September 4 Only just sold but I certainly feel regret. The 156 GTA was 16 years old and really not being driven enough to justify the reg/insurance/maintenance costs. We would have loved to keep her, but also needed garage space. This has ended a 25 year streak of Alfa Romeo ownership!
