Whilst visually it is in some ways similar, the Darkest Hour movie is different a beast. And I think it will give you some of the "behind the scenes" that you crave. Though again, there are over-dramatisations and inaccuracies, but movies are meant to be entertainment after all, not documentaries, and they need to get bums of seats. Some dodgy aspects, but hey it's for entertainment right. I can't say I was a fan of some of the background music though, I gues it was to build suspense, but some it just annoyed me. Yes, I agree now thinking about it, it was to the point where it was very noticeable. I find good background music builds suspense without drawing attention to itself. unclemack Posted June 13, 2018 Share Posted June 13, 2018 Watched this the other night. I really think that Nolan is a genius. This is not cineplex fodder. It is a considered, beautiful film. Zimmer’s score was sublime and his fusing of Elgar into the score just made it more so. Minimal dialogue and a great cast. Wonderful, adult cinema. Lovely cinematography, and the way the music worked in the film... yep. The watch ticking while Hardy's character was thinking about fuel was just icing on the cake.
