By the way, my AVAST virus scanner blocked the url for the dock.  Please virus check your own system...

Thank you @Snoopy8 I am ok (I think) as I run linux. But I will check with others.

Also, I will check out that other thread. 😃

Cheers

I am looking into getting a better dock. Would this suit and do I need to spend that much?

@Bilbo has far more experience with docking & disks with the SMS-200. I preferred using my NAS.

I have tried many docks and the best one to date is this one.

Give a decent 12V LPS and it sounds even better.

This is the one I bought and it does a fine job.

I have found docking stations sound better with really beefy power supplies hence my choice of this supply.

Mind you when I bought it the price was $50 less but still represents good value.

Ok. Does that mean I need two of them (One for the dock and one for the sms200)?

Yes if you go the way of a powered usb disk.  😢  And there is also the more expensive gold tuned versions of the PSU!     Once you discover the benefits of a LPSU, it does becomes a slippery slope.

I did try a powered usb, but not the configuration that Bilbo recommended.  My music was already on a NAS. My trial with the powered usb showed only a slight, if any, improvement and I decided not go that way.

OK @Snoopy8 does that make it three required? One for dock, one for sms200 and one for Fein DAC II ?

😀  The Fein II does NOT require one!

I also purchased one of these dual units after the first one as I needed more 12V supplies.  The Geisler LPS is no doubt very good but my pocket couldn't stretch that far for three of them hence the cheaper option.
