one addition to the system - plenty of time to enjoy during lockdown.

My current system!         Recorded handheld on my iphone with inbuilt microphone...so take it with a big dose of salt.

solace away from the girls

No neat and tidy room here. My listening room doubles as a workshop for my restorations. Not the full inventory but got 3 speakers up and running today.

The infinities are rare. I know some local who also has a pair.

The wedge shaped speakers are Duntech PCL30's.

Here are a few updated pics of my system.
Still trying to get the speakers positioned properly.
I removed the corner tube traps, per MBL's suggestion.
Added the Symposium Ultra platforms. Audioquest William Tell Zero/Bass BiWire cables.

Just finished and finished fine tuning this 180W Class D integrated amp for a SNA member. Tube preamp (Raytheon 12AU7) and hifimediy T4 Class D. Sounds really excellent . Full bass. Decals go on tomorrow.

You evidently like your Cyber 845s. Heard these a fair bit in another local system. Always liked what I heard.

Something I was watching on TV last night got me in the mood for a bit of evening Dire Straits listening, so started with my second favourite Dire Straits album, which is an original UK pressing under Polygram Australia. I'm still waiting for MoFi to repress this in a 45rpm remastered version, but I must say, this pressing is pretty bloody impressive though.:thumb:

How are the MBL's sounding - meeting expectations?

Thanks, Guys.

Current positioning is :
47" out from Front wall
40" from side wall
Spacing is 105" (approx. equilateral triangle listening position)
Speakers are toed-in to face listener.

A couple of things that helped with bass response was :
Plugging amps directly into wall outlet.
Removing corner tube traps.
Switching speaker jumper to Attack position.

Overall imaging is getting better, as well as the lower bass response.
I do have to admit I miss the incredible low end foundation of my past Evolution Acoustics MM3 speakers, with their internal (4) 15" subwoofers.
At a later date I may explore incorporating 1 or 2 subwoofers to satisfy my itch.
More to come later!

Oh, an 8” GSO dob :)

I’ve got one, too, unfortunately it didn’t survive one rainy/frosty night at a star party in Ilford...  I’m planning to rebuild the base from marine grade ply, then it’ll last another decade or so.

Are you using it as a bass trap? :D

I doesn’t a heap of money on mine and never used it from that day. It’s sat for about 13 years. Must go.

Just took delivery of these old B&W 801 s80. I'm not ready to let the ME Geithains leave my house, so for now everything is in and nothing is out.

Wow, two turntables! I thought you were only interested in digital playback. And the Funk preamp is gone? So, how do these B&W compare to the 930K? J.

Hi Joachim!

Haha! Yeah, I know - there were some things I could only get on vinyl! Plus it is fun as you know! One TT is a diy experiment: an SME tonearm on a modified Pro-ject essential platform. The other is a Technics sl1210. The Technics is a lot better!

And actually I am still waiting for amps to arrive: a pair of hypex nc400. I feel like the b&W have been installed in enough pro-studios to fit with my hifi philosophy though.

Looking inviting and the vinyl is sounding good tonight.

Loving the azurahorns @dwbasement . It was a toss up between real horns and going large drivers when building my speakers this year. Next time definitely.

System tonight. Rocking the ‘analogue’ VU meters on the classic Squeezebox tonight (TT out of commission - waiting on parts!). Just for fun

Every single night my friend. I wish more people had suitable systems - I’d recommend everyone need one.

You may be interested then, I swapped out the 6bq5 Nationals that it came with for some Russian 6P14P-EV (rated to 7k hours!). Sounding good.

Better than the Nationals? They were right up there. And I have more.

Not sure I can tell 😬 the Russians had been in the draw for a few months, so I was scratching an itch.. Nationals still around though.

My understanding of the design was that the single 6922 should have a more noticeable impact on sound, is this true?
