Wow they look amazing and I can only imagine what they sound like.

If you turn them up loud enough do lightning bolts shoot from one to the other?

Im sure theres enough power produced from your sexy ML amps to do it.:)

They are Jeff Rowland amps.

My current system!         Recorded handheld on my iphone with inbuilt microphone...so take it with a big dose of salt.

@The Fresh Prince what is it about the 6CA7 that you like in comparison to the EL34, i have gone from a 6L6GC to the 6CA7, only truely appreciated the difference when i put the 6L6GC back in, very briefly, i was advised that the 6CA7 was a good compromise between the 6L6GC and EL34, will eventually try EL34's, luckily i only have two power tubes

First time I tried 6L6GCs -JJ- I was disappointed. But in my 6L6 SE UL I love them. I have two similar amps with them and 12AT7 drivers. I’m sold on them. I see some high end Japanese PP a amps use them too.

Meff Lowland?

Oh

Yep my bad sorry Jeff if you are reading this.

I may be able to afford the Meff Lowlands though if they are a cheap copy from china.

And if they are that good looking..... I dont need to know their name.😜

@mwhouston i had JJ 6L6GC and 12AU7 JJ in my Elekit for a year, started to feel they were a little bright, put new Mullard 12AU7 which improved things, then new EH 6CA7 which further mellowed the sound, but after putting the JJ's back in briefly i realised the huge difference

I’ve used JJs as 6L6GCs and 12AU7. Extremely good value for money. Others in the industry agree. Evatco sell them so normally they can be down in a week or so.

Experimenting with mass loading today after a trip to Bunnings 😎

Startling improvement in bass following adding 40kg to each speaker. Things were a bit soft before and had me walking over to switch on the sub or going back and forth with the SS beefy amp for deep bass.

Very pleased with this tweak.

Edit: May notice since earlier posts that I’ve experimented with placement too. Closer together and firing straight forward is giving good results at present.

G'day Folks.

A couple of very nice systems above, well done gents.

Just a quick one to introduce the new arrival...

... another run to Sydney for gear, picking up a Denon AVC - A1 Surround Amp from @Believe1980s.

Loving the amp...  Great to meet another member.  Good luck with the baby mate. I haven't been able to go optic, it's new for me... must be a setting I've missed.

I was able to catch up with ol'mate @Billy Shears again, great to see you again mate.  Billy has been overwhelmingly generous with time, info and goodies, including some Celef's and a Project, carbon tone arm, gratis.

He's a great guy...  anyone dealing with him can rest assured.

A big shout to Doug too... @Tubularbells

Thanks for helping out a mate.

It's another level for me... But driving the familiar Technics with some psy trance right now.

The Wall was through the TDL's.  Lovely.

Sold my spare set of Altec horns sans FaitalPro compression drivers which I was using in mono salt cellar setups. Lucky I had a pair of new FaitalPro Tractrix Elliptical horns on the shelf.

Bolted the drivers on for a listen. Not quite the in your face of the Altecs, a little ore on the smooth side but still fast and immediate. Using the Beymas for the woofers - system is 98db efficient and the 2W 6EM7 mono amp drives dead easy. Good bass. Wife’s out so the next 4 hours are mine in the Salt Cellar.

I was wondering why this setup wasn’t showing of the horn. Then realised the titanium 2” point radiator tweeter in the Beymas was also connected. Now the Tractrix horn (cast) really stand out.

The CA AM10 doesn't sound too bad with the DM3/7's actually. I thought they were a budget speaker but were quite expensive new (got them free). Just realized they are 4 ohms too so the 35w/ch of the AM10 is probably actually about 50w/ch.

Recently, added tubes to the HiFi system. Why didn't I realise how cool tubes were before?

Out of the box new the Primaluna Evo 400 Pre amp absolutely steamed rolled my Pass Labs XP-10 pre in every way.

The Aqua La Scala Dac, comes with two Genalex 12AT7 tubes in the output stage.

Rolled six new Genalex 12Au7s, and two new Genalex 5AR4s into the Primaluna pre amp- Audio nirvana!

Tubes compared with Solid State-

Holographic, open wider sound stage, deeper tighter bass slam, beautiful top end shimmer, sweet natural thick mids and vocals, whisper quiet noise floor, and instrumental resonance and decay to die for?

For some reason, pics are standard res unless click on?

That door either either houses the crossover or it's a very noisy toilet - If you fart in there everyones going to hear it.

This was the first of the Salt Cellar wine box mono tube power amps I built this year. I was listening to the second one with the 6EM7 and one of my better tubes preamps and marvelled how clear and detailed it sounded. I put the first (triode strapped 807) in, integrated and has its own preamp, and thought it sounded muddy. Definitely a darker sound.

I had a very low hours Tung-Sol 6SN7 and swapped it for the vintage RCA currently in. The clarity jumped up a couple of notches straight away and as the tube warned (20 mins) it all just got better. Still a heavier darker sound to the 6EM7 dual triode SC II but clearer and more detail.

(They certainly look intriguing!)

Some sort of 2-way horn? Back loaded bass horn by the looks?

Interesting backdrop for speakers though 😅

Had another SNA member around for a seasoning and he felt SC II better (6EM7) with my everyday tube preamp. Have to agree.
