Yep.

Seems to do the job I guess, although I've got nothing to compare it to.

But it can control the volume at least...

That unit does the job very well...

After reading the thread on audiokarma i decided to try one.  I do like it.

Have you tried running it with a linear supply ?

Not yet.  I only got it last week.  ;)

I really only got it as a stopgap to get me going until I decided what I should get as it seemed to review alright and was damn cheap.  My Squeezebox seemed to do well with a iFi iPower unit, but I'm undecided whether I should throw money at this with the power supply and different tubes, or just put it towards a "decent" preamp.

But yeah, I don't think it sucks though.  I can't seem to hear any noise through the system, so yeah, cool.

Its certainly cost effective, but it doesnt sound cheap.

I was running mine with a GME power supply (turned down to 12v) and i swapped the tubes out for the JAN GE 5654w.  I am building another system and am considering having the Tube01 in the chain.

Which model? How old? Any mods?

Looks very cosy, bet you are enjoying that lovely full bodied sound.  Very classy collection.

This eve, dragged out the old Stats, just for their treble, mated so well with the mid and bass horns, very smitten ? didn’t wanna stop listening.

My father’s system today...

IMG_1206.jpg

Sources are Cambridge Audio DVD player and Apple TV.
Processing is a Marantz SR6005 receiver.
This outputs main left/right to a custom made 2 box valve pre which was made in Tassie.
The speakers are 6.5’ hybrid ribbons/dual 6.5” mids . The woofers are 2 x dual 8” dipole transmission line enclosures.
Power amplification for the mains is DC battery powered with active cross overs. The Marantz powers the centre and rears (Aurum Cantus Leisure IISE).
A couple of spare Redgum power amps will be swapped in to power centre and rears shortly.
The centre and sub are garage sale specials. They’ll do for now.

The room is 12m x 5m and the system sounds absolutely fabulous.

You should be proud of your Dad, a lovely system, love dipole sound personally.

Nice large room to play with,  maybe one note, convince him to drag the speakers well off the back wall and am sure he will be much amazed.
Just came from members house and sorted his ESLs that way incl removal of unnessary resistors etc. my ribbons needed at least 1.2 m away from rear wall to sing.

Enjoy V
