One of my wife’s favourite bands. Have seen them 3 times now.  We’re old enough to be the parents of 99% of the crowd.

Sticky Fingers - Yours To Keep.

Got this album today from my local shop, the music is very similar to Tears For Fears. Does anybody know something about this band, Love and Money?4087B231-BE43-4C05-9C74-B10D57437417.thumb.jpeg.1a05df992d58d3cd8aae26f8578a74ee.jpeg

Just in the middle of listening to this, Abbey road Half speed remaster.

Dunno which I like more, the original or 2009 version- think you need to come over and give me your opinion @Tubularbells 😉

Now that takes me back to my very late teens, something I had long forgotten, until I saw that picture, as they say, 'Once seen, never forgotten' :thumb:

I am currently listening to Vanilla Fudge, only because of the Psychodelic Picture remimded me of the cover.

Madonna

Madame X

My favourite album after her Erotica album, it is an album you either love or hate - but I loved it the moment I heard it on the Deluxe CD edition, the layering of instruments and introducing me to "Batuka" - always a journey with Madonna - sounds amazing on Vinyl 🙂

I brought this CD and was obsessed with it for weeks and heard the Vinyl was so much better and it is this album that actually made me take the plunge to finally commit and buy the turntable as I wanted to hear it in it's fully glory...............

I think my neighbours may hate me for the next hour though as I pump this out !!!!!!!!

Just a funny note though on quality control - misprints on the track listing for Side 1 - says 4 tracks on the back cover and inner sleeves, but only 3 tracks are on side 1 on the LP - terrible the lack of quality control in these things.

First proper post on this thread - but since system synergy it’s now one of the only ones I read - love some of the albums I’ve found on here.

Anyway, One of the albums of childhood - Bob’s first album backed by a full band... It’s still one of my favourites, and MoFi really did knock it out of the park with the Bob Dylan releases.

I remember Mum saying Bob was crap from here on in, and my Dad saying it’s when he came good. Such a pivotal album,

Tombstone Blues is my personal standout - but standing out on this album in any way is a tough ask.

I also liked Meriweather beach

My friends parents owned that fish and chip ship on the opposite corner from the long car park ( you will know what I mean )

I have met Mark Richards on Meriweather beach but always went to his fathers shop for surf gear

For those not in the know - Mark is a surfing world champion

My mate lives in Gordon avenue Hamilton South so when I visit - the beach is  only a few blocks away

He normally drives me there before we even say hello

Ray Richards and Pacific Dreams were the two Surf shops I'd buy my gear from, I surfed from the age of 12.  Growing up in Newcastle, you were either a Surfer or Westie (motor bikes). I moved to Sydney in my early twenties. Didn't touch a board again..

Based on some other threads I have read in the past regarding cataloging ones record and other media collection

I have joined Discogs

Now every time I play a record I also add it to my collection list

Havent tried this feature as yet but you can export the collection as text

We will see how it pans out for me

you can export it to excel - I do that and send to my insurance company each year at renewal time, so that I can prove my library should anything happen.  I insure for the max $$ as listed on discogs.

Inspiration from @evil c

I received this album for my birthday last month - but just opened it up for a spin today

Needs no introduction

But it sounds fantastic on my horn system with a little extra volume 😎

Artist - Mike Oldfield

Title - Tubular Bells

I was actually both

Our family owned a mechanical workshop and we loved speed, especially road going cars for 1/4 mile drag racing and sky boats

Chased waves mostly from Nobbys to Redhead

We also converted old VW’s to beach buggies and rode the sand dunes with a little beach fishing at Stockton

Item: Sansui SR-212 Vintage 70s Turntable - Japan - Professionally Restored & Upgraded
      Location: Sydney
Price: $450, open to reasonable offers
Item Condition: Very Good, recently serviced/restored/upgraded and working.
Reason for selling: No longer required
Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only
      Extra Info:

I recently inherited this Sansui SR-212 turntable , which is of 1970s vintage and is made in Japan. The turntable employs a unique multiple suspension/insulation system to eliminate howling ( it has a suspended sub-chassis design).

The deck is in really nice condition, no major blemishes to speak of. Even the lid is in good condition, no cracks and the hinges also appear to be working fine.

It did need some minor repair work to get it up and running, so I engaged Chris from Spin Doctor Music here in Sydney to repair/restore the deck for me which he did very well.

In the process the following upgrades were also made to the deck :
Brand new drive belt Brand new Jelco HS-25 cartridge shell was purchased and installed onto the tonearm Brand new Ortofon 2M Silver MM phono cartridge was purchased, installed and aligned Brand new AUS power cord was installed
Initially I thought I might use this Sansui TT in a second system, but It turns out that I won't be making use of it after all.

So , it's up for sale now to someone who can make use of it.

Everything is in good working order, including the arm cueing and auto-return mechanism. Platter speed has been tested by Spin Doctor Music and is accurate and stable at both 33.1/3 and 45 speeds.

Some more info and general specs on this turntable are available here:
      https://www.vinylengine.com/library/sansui/sr-212.shtml

Note of course that this one has the Ortofon 2M Silver cart and Jelco headshell upgrades. The Ortofon 2M Silver seems to sit between the 2M Blue and the 2M Bronze in the Ortofon 2M lineup.  I will also provide the original headshell and also the (probably very worn out) original SC-37 IM cartridge.

I don’t have any boxes or packaging for the deck, so I would prefer local pickup from Sydney.

I've also got the original operation manual for it.

The new Ortofon 2M Silver cartridge and Jelco HS-25 headshell together alone would cost over $400 RRP.

Buyer will need to add their own RCA-RCA phono cable to connect the deck to an amp/phono stage.

Local pickup Sydney only. COD payment is easiest, or happy to receive a bank/BSB or PayPal Friends transfer before pickup.

Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.

A very Black Friday: how the fetish for vinyl is sending prices soaring, a mainstream article on this issue... "...there’s a diehard group of consumers who will continue to support this state of affairs. It’ll never go away because there’s always a market for it – it’s been so over-fetishised that it’s part of the culture now. That’s why the majors have adopted some of these silly pricing policies.”
