The audioquest one looks better however.

The carbon fibre and velvet one from JB Hifi is cheaper however.

Yes I almost brought that yesterday only I had read how sometimes the Velvet ones can scratch records? I wanted to try their standard one (brush only) but the only one they had in stock was damaged - bristles went all different directions. I shall try another store though.

Reviews on the Audio Quest have not been very glowing as some say the bristles fall out and the gold part wears off.

You would think by these times there would have been something invented to stop static eh? A light safe spray, afterall us ladies can get anti-static spray to put on our undergarments - LOL

I ended up ordering a Pro-Ject anti static carbon brush - the Audio quest after reading so many reviews seems to have very mixed results - many say the bristles fall out and the gold part wears off really fast from just general handling. The Pro-Ject one is more affordable too at $25 with free shipping - and being all metal at the top you don't have to worry about keeping contact with the gold part like you do on the AQ one.

I am sure the one I was sold by the record store here on the Goldie is really not so good - I am not sure the top is even metal to be honest.

I have been having such issues with static - even with the Milty Zero Stat - I am starting to think it is the cheap Carbon Brush causing it.

I have been using my Spin Clean & re-sleeving in Mofi and I Milty Stat prior play, then use the brush - but I think I might start to try using the brush first then Milty Stat last before going on the platter.

Hard to think the Gold Coast would have so much static when we usually have humidity, but  the heat is quite dry and so much dust and likely ash particles from all the bush fires I guess, it is quite horrible - but could be worse, at least I didn't lost my house in the fires like some poor souls did 😞

I use a very old but well cared for record brush

And it’s the best one I have ever used because it’s a dual purpose clean and antistatic

This is the description I got from the WWW

Description

The Decca Record Brush is unique in that it serves a dual purpose effectively.

The Brush consists of a million tiny fibre bristles.

This means that each sweep of the record surface will allow upwards of a thousand bristles to enter each groove to clean it and remove more dust, dirt and grit than any other product available.

And there is one other vital task the Decca Record Brush undertakes: each bristle is electrically conductive.

Static on the record is removed through the bristles as you clean, without the aid of fluids or special compounds.

At last, a record surface cleaner which also removes static: the Decca Record Brush.

It comes complete with its own combined cleaner/stand, with full instructions.

Hi All,

Ogden's Nut Gone Flake, Mono

Ogden.jpg.f0f8a11a23b2281baf06e8243a850898.jpg

While on the area of cleaning brushes, you can see mine there, a Furutech purchased from @Krispy Audio when on sale several years back, info re same says:

Furutech's ASB-1 is a static eliminating brush created for audio and video applications. Featuring "COREBRID ™ B” composite core fibers, a unique highly conductive material. By lightly brushing the surface CDs, DVDs and LPs, the ASB-1 will remove static charge and at the same time remove any dust from the grooves of LPs. This revolutionary product solves in one simple sweep the problem of electro static noise and deteriorating sound and image quality.

And now finally getting to the good ****.. Syd Barrett - 'The Madcap Laughs' .. I can't concisely put into words why or how much I love and respect Syd Barrett and his music. Genuinely over the moon to own his albums on vinyl after several years of searching and to be able to share it in the best, most tactile, visceral, format with the Mrs..

I always thought they should have released an album "Keeping The ".

Would have been a great album title for them.

From what I have read - this album would not have been released as new material was in the pipeline but egos and disagreements got in the way

Even though this album release has old material it’s still timeless nonetheless

Cover art was by Joni Mitchell

Artist - Crosby Stills Nash & Young

Title - So Far

The Rat Pack – Live At The Sands – 2LP Limited reissue in gatefold - BRAND NEW & SEALED.
2014 rmastered set, originally recorded live at The Sands Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada on September 7, 1963. Includes liner notes by Bill Zehme. Digitally remastered by Lee Herschberg. Pressed in the Netherlands and sounds fantastic.
For those whose favourite part of the legendary Sinatra/Count Basie LIVE AT THE SANDS album was Frank's lengthy comedic monologue, THE RAT PACK: LIVE AT THE SANDS will arrive like manna from hipster's heaven. The disc features an entire performance by the storied "rat pack" of the Chairman and his musical pals Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr., but most of the show is given over to shtick and banter. Fittingly, Sinatra gets the most straight-ahead musical time with a brace of sterling ballads whose appearance should delight hardcore fans. Fortunately, the humorous barbs passed around the stage for the bulk of the performance are extremely sharp and funny (if politically incorrect in the extreme). Taken as a comedy album with some stirring musical moments, this disc is a gem for those who revere the Rat Pack, as they are captured at the peak of their powers and popularity, exuding hipness from every pore. LIVE AT THE SANDS is a bona fide cultural artefact documenting one generation's apex of cool.    $35

      Alan Parsons Project – I Robot – 2LP LEGACY 2013 release 35th Anniversary Edition - BRAND NEW & SEALED.
MOV pressing in a gatefold sleeve. Including an 8 page booklet with rare photos & liner notes by Alan Parsons, and 14 bonus tracks on the second disc.
      Lovely double album package.    $45

Led Zeppelin - How The West Was Won (SUPER DELUXE EDITION) – 4LP, 3CD, DVD and Book – 2018 EU pressed Box Set. BRAND NEW & SEALED.
'How The West Was Won' highlights the best performances from Led Zeppelin’s legendary concerts at the Los Angeles Forum and Long Beach Arena on June 25 and 27, 1972. Standouts include a 25-plus minute version of 'Dazed And Confused' and a 21-minute medley based around 'Whole Lotta Love'. The performances also capture the band introducing songs from its then-unreleased album 'Houses Of The Holy', which would be released nine months later. The Super Deluxe Boxed Set contains: Remastered audio on three CDs and four 180-gram vinyl LPs. DVD of the album in Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround and PCM Stereo, plus photo gallery. High-def download card of all stereo audio content at 96kHz/24 bit. A 52 page book filled with rare and previously unpublished photos of the band at each of the concert locations, plus memorabilia and ephemera. High-quality print of the original album cover, the first 30,000 of which will be individually numbered.
Goes for anywhere from $230-$245 online anywhere you care to check.
      How's half that?      $125

Suburb or Town: Terang State: Victoria Payment Method: Reason for selling: Never used Further information: I have decided to sell some of my Wings and Paul McCartney LP's. All were bought new by me in the 1970/80's and all are Australian pressings. Some like Wings over America have never been out of the jacket. All are as NEW, most are first Aussie pressings. The record jackets and inner sleeves are in the same condition they came new from Brashes in Dee Why.

This is a once in a life time opportunity to obtain effectively new old stock LP's.

I know how difficult it can be to buy used LP's so I'm happy for anyone to audition on my Technics SP10. I played Wings Wild Life for the first time last night and without cleaning it was as you would expect from a new LP.
