Listening to my “360 sound” copy of Santana Borboletta.

You can’t get wrong with those CBS red labels. Fantastic sound quality

Beautiful German pressing of Eye In The Sky, slightly improvement on the vocals compared to my USA copy.

Since it was a warm-up show, I could have sworn Marillion played the song Script For A Jester's Tear twice during the show, as if they were "practicing" it." Thanks to Duke A. Potter

Tex Don And Charlie - 'You Don't Know Lonely' .. Turned up from Amazon today, sound quality is excellent but unfortunately it turned up with both kinds of split to the inner sleeve, unglued on one side, and the record tore through the other. Slightly warped but if the inner sleeve was fine I could live with it.. Anyway may aswell enjoy it before it goes back.

This is the last Slade album in the collection but still in the 80s

The band added some keyboards to the formula in this release but not everyone liked it

But my take is that a band needs to move forward or they go stale so this is an underrated sleeper album that you need to listen to a few time to get the essence

I've been hunting the Sabbath Rhino reissues for a while.

Three popped up in the SNA classifieds - Yippee, from @trigun74, all as described and in very good shape.  Thanks mate.

Sounds very nice, pumping with much gusto.

Hey @Janjuc yes mate, a nice score here on SNA.  Have played Vol 4 as well but didn't post it.  I've read that the Rhino Vol 4 ain't as good as the others, but I thought it was great too.

It's nice to have clean, crackle less copies of these finally.

Will be giving Paranoid a spin tonight.

Cheers.

I've never had this one on vinyl before.  I must say I'm very impressed with this record, all nice covers and great sound.  But hearing this on vinyl for the first time is blowing me away.  War Pigs and Iron Man with considerable volume.

All first Australian pressings of

Nice one man.  I've been working my way through my collection on discogs after these arrived today.  I have a gatefold first Oz press of Vol 4., and a 1976 West German reissue of Master of Reality, and 2 copies of Sabbath Bloody Sabbath first Oz pressings, one with no cover as the disc is pretty well damaged and I used the cover for framing.  I haven't looked up my other Sab records yet.

I have the Earmark reissues of Black Sabbath and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and they are abysmal, DO NOT BUY.

I have been doing a lot of research on the Sabbath reissues.  The Steve Hoffman threads mention more than once that the Rhino Vol 4 is not as good as the others, but I have to disagree.  A couple of reviews on discogs indicate that it is one of the better Rhino reissues, go figure.

I found this on discogs...

These reissues actually sound better than the originals. I am an audio engineer. Spend lots of time in front of studio monitors. I own many original LP pressings including Sabbath. I did a side by side comparison. The reissues came out on top. The lacquers were cut at a slightly higher volume. Not by much, but the detail of each note played shines. Rhino did a fantastic job and continue to do so with their other reissues.

From the three Rhino reissues I now have, and listened to today, I would agree.  I will look for all the other Rhino reissues with confidence.

Cheers.
Ant.

Item: Sansui SR-212 Vintage 70s Turntable - Japan - Professionally Restored & Upgraded
      Location: Sydney
Price: $450, open to reasonable offers
Item Condition: Very Good, recently serviced/restored/upgraded and working.
Reason for selling: No longer required
Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only
      Extra Info:

I recently inherited this Sansui SR-212 turntable , which is of 1970s vintage and is made in Japan. The turntable employs a unique multiple suspension/insulation system to eliminate howling ( it has a suspended sub-chassis design).

The deck is in really nice condition, no major blemishes to speak of. Even the lid is in good condition, no cracks and the hinges also appear to be working fine.

It did need some minor repair work to get it up and running, so I engaged Chris from Spin Doctor Music here in Sydney to repair/restore the deck for me which he did very well.

In the process the following upgrades were also made to the deck :
Brand new drive belt Brand new Jelco HS-25 cartridge shell was purchased and installed onto the tonearm Brand new Ortofon 2M Silver MM phono cartridge was purchased, installed and aligned Brand new AUS power cord was installed
Initially I thought I might use this Sansui TT in a second system, but It turns out that I won't be making use of it after all.

So , it's up for sale now to someone who can make use of it.

Everything is in good working order, including the arm cueing and auto-return mechanism. Platter speed has been tested by Spin Doctor Music and is accurate and stable at both 33.1/3 and 45 speeds.

Some more info and general specs on this turntable are available here:
      https://www.vinylengine.com/library/sansui/sr-212.shtml

Note of course that this one has the Ortofon 2M Silver cart and Jelco headshell upgrades. The Ortofon 2M Silver seems to sit between the 2M Blue and the 2M Bronze in the Ortofon 2M lineup.  I will also provide the original headshell and also the (probably very worn out) original SC-37 IM cartridge.

I don’t have any boxes or packaging for the deck, so I would prefer local pickup from Sydney.

I've also got the original operation manual for it.

The new Ortofon 2M Silver cartridge and Jelco HS-25 headshell together alone would cost over $400 RRP.

Buyer will need to add their own RCA-RCA phono cable to connect the deck to an amp/phono stage.

Local pickup Sydney only. COD payment is easiest, or happy to receive a bank/BSB or PayPal Friends transfer before pickup.

Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.

A very Black Friday: how the fetish for vinyl is sending prices soaring, a mainstream article on this issue... "...there’s a diehard group of consumers who will continue to support this state of affairs. It’ll never go away because there’s always a market for it – it’s been so over-fetishised that it’s part of the culture now. That’s why the majors have adopted some of these silly pricing policies.”
