Vinyl - Currently Spinning

Just spinning a sound comparison between my much played 1973 Vertigo swirl pressing (6366101) of 'Sabbath Bloody Sabbath' and the 2016 'remastered' (RR1 2695) Warner Bros. issue.

What a joke.  The Warner Bros sound is flat and lacking dynamics and punch.  The cover art is also filtered and flat.  Even with all it's crackles and pops my 46 year pressing destroys the remaster in every way.

I tend to favour first pressings or similar era reissues when feasible

Some remasters do sound better but they tend to be the ones that use recognised engineers

G'day JJ,

Is that one of the coloured LPs from the Gizz? Most of mine are psy-coloured.

It is a black pressing, whereas the others are coloured.

Currently listening to Gazpacho, Missa Atropos

I'm certain that my issue with Joni's music is that my boss at work made fun of me because I "mondegreened" the lyrics to one of her best-known songs, aloud.

I blame ignorance and naivete... and the same on my part. Maybe my parents only had a poor quality AM radio when I was young. Yeah, that'll do it.

Me. Can't get into Dylan, Van Morrison or Springsteen. Great lyrics, but those voices, especially the first 2. Have tried to like them. Every 10 years or so, l try again. But nah. All they make me do is search for razor blades.?

Same here, for the second and third mentioned, only some of Dylan and only in small doses.

Before CD compilations we had double LP albums or sometimes triple LP albums

This is an excellent example of a King Crimson compilation album that was also aptly named

Artist - King Crimson

Title - The Young Persons Guide To King Crimson

Excellent sounding record.

I saw these guys supporting The Angels one night, many, many moons ago.

A classic, one of my favourites, wish I had seen them live
