Love spending your money for youJohn.😃

The lead singer of TPT is a guy called Bruce Soord. Superlative voice. Check out his own single albums under his name.

Especially his 2019 album, All This Will Be Yours. He has 3 in total.

I have his Wisdom Of Crowds on cd (though that is in collaboration with the lead singer from the band Katatonia, Jonas Renkse), a great listen.

All the albums are superb. All This Will Be Yours is my next record purchase. 2 LPs. Going to be a birthday present for myself next month.

There you go mate. Just spent another few hundred $s for you😁

👌 K

Well, ironically there was a horse running yesterday called Dissolution and it won.  I only put it in my multi because I was streaming the album.

True story!  Shows you my punting ability....  paid $19 - 1.

AP Prestige release.  Found it in a pile of unopened.  I have a few releases of this album, I reckon this is the pick.

George Michael & Wham

Last Christmas Soundtrack

US

2 x LP Gatefold

Some tracks slightly sibilant on my system, but other than that, no issues - no flaws. Nice gatefold and download card comes with WAV and MP3 files.

AP seems to be really kicking some goals in recent times.

All the AP releases I've bought have been stunning.

One of the LPs that is high on my want list though reliably finding the fixed pressing with "Welcome to 1979" is proving difficult... 😒

Yes unfortunately the first pressing was said to have a lot of distortions. I was lucky my first copy was the "fixed" repress with Welcome to 1979, CJH. However I was disappointed with the SQ as I found it quite dull, I presume it was pressed by URP pressing, if not perhaps Independent Record Pressing or cheap pressing plants of the same low standard...

My current copy is a GZ pressing https://www.discogs.com/Jason-Isbell-Southeastern/release/7364150 which I find a lot livelier, pretty much quiet and a lot more enjoyable to listen to... Just don't expect an excellent SQ from this though... Safe bet is to get this from an UK/EU retailer, I got mine when it was easy to get from amazon.co.uk.

interesting.  I wasnt aware of the issue.  It seems the 2 I have are the 2014 releases, which apparently are the fixed versions..  I dont hear any distortion in mine, other is sealed as a backup.

Agree, just a great sounding record, well arranged, produced and just easy on the ear. Be nice to hear on this system, regardless, I’d think it would sound good on most systems.

It's a pity really as the album really deserves to be well mastered with a good pressing.

Hopefully one day Mofi or AP will get their hands on it.

There was a big thing on Steve Hoffman on it which I gather had a lot to do with them fixing it.

Apparently one of the issues is it's an example of trying to cram too much onto a LP.

Some people seemed to get lucky with the original pressing though apparently a lot weren't.

2014 vinyl release by Jack White

This "Ultra LP" release features several special features:

      · Tracks A6 and B7 are locked grooves featuring elements from their respective previous tracks. "High Ball Stepper" doesn't end with a faded-out distortion as in the digital versions, it is locked instead.
      · Tracks A7 and B8 are hidden tracks pressed on their sides' labels, and play at 78 RPM and 45 RPM respectively, thus making the LP a three speed record.
      · Side A's groove is inverted and plays from the inside out.
      · "Just One Drink" consists of two different intros, each in its own groove, with both connecting at the body of the song. BA1 is acoustic, BB1 is electric.
      · Side B has a matte finish, giving the appearance of an un-played 78 RPM record.
      · Vinyl is pressed in flat-edged format.
      · Dead wax area on Side A contains a hand-etched hologram by Tristan Duke of Infinity Light Science, the first of its kind on a vinyl record.
      · Tracks B3 and B4 are swapped in comparison to the digital editions, and B2 features a slightly longer intro.
      · The vinyl was mastered entirely from analog sources with no additional compression used.

So after finding myself in a music store with that old familiar joy of looking through vinyl albums I wanted to add a turntable to my setup. The Project X1  is what I was thinking I would dip my toe in with.

I have boxes of vinyl of classical from the old family home, but they are in average to poor condition. (but recordings I cannot get any more) So my question is:

If I am playing both new and old vinyl records,  am I going to destroy the needle? What do others here do about their original and mint collection without killing a $300 needle?

      Thanks!
