Britney Spears

LTD Edition white Vinyl

Reissue Deluxe

2020

US

I have both the original pressing and this new re-issue that comes with the unreleased tracks - I was worried that the reissue might not sound great because adding the extra tracks meant extra tracks per side compared to the original pressing but have to say this Re-Issue is fantastic, not one click or pop and the mastering is superb. The packaging is much nicer than the original too & I loved the unreleased material.

I agree, the original cover was so bad - so cheap and lazy - and fuzzy.

This new double album is in White - sounds just great. Very happy with it.

Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin

Keeping on with the 90’s vibes. Had the pleasure of seeing them a few times, little did I know gig at Hamer Hall in late 2019 would be one of the last I venture to for years.

Jealous. Still need to pick this up. Easily their best since At War With The Mystics and comfortably one of last years best albums.

Had a "loop skip" in it so hit it with the Revirginzer Product after I could see some crud stuck in a groove using a magnifying glass and it fixed it up - now plays NM.

Interested to know how the Stop Making Sense sounds... as it was the first DDD cd I ever knew of and they are a favourite band of mine. Can a vinyl be better than a cd when it was specifically recorded, mastered and put onto a cd in full digital? You have the setup to be able to say yes or no ;-))

I have purchased 2 similar LPs, The top one is perhaps leaning towards early Sabbath sound, up to about Black Sabbath IV, and most of the tracks to me sound more Progressive Metal.

You can listen to it on Bandcamp :- https://magneticeyerecords.bandcamp.com/album/best-of-black-sabbath

1754888232_BestOfBlackSabbathVariousArtists.jpg.8c2dbae5a41f32d0b4a7b9be9bf5369b.jpg

This album has a harder edge to it like Cross Purposes and to a lesser degree more like the artists who play the songs style of music.

It is one of the best sounding Vinyl records I have.  I have both an Aust pressing and Japanese, both stunning.

I have an apparent bootleg double LP of this concert on grey vinyl......the 'Stop Making Sense Tour' on Broadcast Radio Records from 2015 with 14 songs. It sounds fantastic and it's not even an official release!

Talking Heads - Stop Making Sense Tour (2015, Grey, Vinyl) | Discogs

Edit: Some quick Discogs research renders this post irrelevant to your question as it is a different concert (Milwaukie 1984) to the official release (New York 1983) but from the same tour. Still sounds great though.

Sebadoh ‎– Act Surprised - 2019 - new album from Sebadoh, part 2.  I tried the green vinyl Aussie release last year and it was one of the most insipid pressings I have ever heard - like a giant blanket was put over the speakers.  This is the US black vinyl pressing - its a lot better and actually has dynamics - top end is still rollled off too much  - with a bit of treble eq - sounds good :thumb:

The album from Discrepancy records has just landed not more than 40 minutes ago  ( but will play it when time allows )

So I decided to share with the SN members.

The first time I purchased this album was around 1971 and I lent it out several years later but never came back home

Then I replaced it with a 1978 re issue album that I still have in the collection

This release is the 50th anniversary album - Steve Wilson mix, that has great reviews so I have decided to add it to the collection from 2019

Artist - King Crimson

Title - In The Court Of The Crimson King

A really GREAT album, probably in my top 3 favourite albums, I first heard and purchased in early 1970 whilst in Melbourne shopping, I was passing by a newly opened Record Store opposite Myer, it was painted flat black inside, all of the record bins were flat black and the lighting was alternate ultraviolet and regular fluorescent strip lights, so it was not exactly bright inside, they eventually took out a lot of the ultra violet lights because a lot of stock was being taken and staff couldn't see what was going on in the store.

Seeing @Full Range's post I grabbed my copies, an original sale in 1970 https://www.discogs.com/King-Crimson-In-The-Court-Of-The-Crimson-King-An-Observation-By-King-Crimson/release/2511718

and the same 2019 remix by Steven Wilson https://www.discogs.com/King-Crimson-In-The-Court-Of-The-Crimson-King-An-Observation-By-King-Crimson/release/14338110

The first thing I noticed was how dull the rerelease 's cover was in comparison, it seems more washed out in comparison to the 1970 version. currently playing the 1970 version.

I have noticed that about so many of the re-releases - even the Prince one I posted over the weekend for Hits 1 - the original cover was a Sepia tone and the new release Black and White - I prefer the original tones. Another thing I have noticed that is really SLOPPY is how they will take the artwork from CDs and then just copy that for LP Jackets and they can be "fuzzy" and pixelated. That is just laziness. I prefer the original tones in the cover of this one too 🙂

Too true, enlarging a 5" x 5" picture to 12" x 12" is sloppy and lazy.

So after finding myself in a music store with that old familiar joy of looking through vinyl albums I wanted to add a turntable to my setup. The Project X1  is what I was thinking I would dip my toe in with.

I have boxes of vinyl of classical from the old family home, but they are in average to poor condition. (but recordings I cannot get any more) So my question is:

If I am playing both new and old vinyl records,  am I going to destroy the needle? What do others here do about their original and mint collection without killing a $300 needle?

      Thanks!
