Our Annual Wine of the Year dinner was last night. Everyone brings a wine they think could be a contender....8 of us were in attendance and we held this at Aria restaurant, a 10 course degustation mat

Started with some southern Tassie Chardonnay and now enjoying some smoked beef shorties with a few glasses of damn nice 2012 McLaren Vale Shiraz.  Cheers all 🤙

Chilling at home this arvo-washing records,  giving them a spin, doing some cooking and oh, a few beverages ......keeping Mrs Mendes amused.....🙏🥂🍷🍻

A very tough week, one we will never forget in our lifetime.

A very sombe time, I hope you all stay safe my vino and hifi friends. ❤️🙏

When the going gets tough..... it’s time to open a bottle of Coates The Nebbiolo,

I am definetly due to order some wine from @DRC but since I moved to an apartment, I have to adjust my quantity a bit, can't have too many bottles in storage.... so I will probably have to wait until next year before I order some more.

Just want to share this recipe of roast chicken to everyone, it is very good for what we are facing at the moment. It gives loads of nutrients for our well beings.

It will give you the western chicken soup like benefit, killer garlic, vitamin C, and herbs that good for your lung. Oh and some alcohol as well...

I prefer everything free range and organic if possible but you dont have to.

Here it is:

Slice some onions, lemon and garlic and put it at the bottom of the tray, get a chicken deboned, rub the skin with some butter on the skin then rub it (all over) with a chopped mixture of salt, pepper, garlic thyme, rosemarry and one of your favorite herb (i use sage tonite) proportion is 3:2:1. Then add half a lemon juice over the chicken. Add some chopped up (bite size) potatoes around the chicken.

Pre the oven 220 degree, put the tray in for 45 minutes and rest for 5 to 10 mins. Done! Crispy skin, juicy chicken and herb and chicken juice infused potatoes with some crunchy skin, don't forget all the juice on the bottom of the tray as well. And a few glasses of wine of course.

Hope you guys try it one day and let me onow what you think.

It is certainly an very interesting time, it gives everyone some quiet times and a very good break from everything, however it will be very difficult times for some people...

Deep into a day of baking in the mysterious world of wild yeast and sourdough.

It's a 2 day slog to get a loaf in the oven ( unlike the 2 minute effort to make a bun in the oven..) and today's efforts interfered with beer o'clock and then dragged on into 🍷 o'clock, which is still going at the moment as I wait for loaves to prove.

IMG_20200328_204452336.thumb.jpg.10d0e3afaca7418c64169fec274e0ea4.jpg

One of my fav big beers and it hasn't suffered under the auspices of CUB. Then I foolishly cracked a can of some American wunderkind IPA!

IMG_20200328_204423732.thumb.jpg.aa244f9dcce2740c107b23cf9636db43.jpg

Wishy washy and then I got stuck into kneading and then snuck into my sound room mancave and nearly pulled the cork on a 🍷 that the couple I worked for this week gave me for doing a good job and coming out in the pandemic.

I told them that if they'd just been that little bit older and unhealthy and I'd been pre- warned about their 🍷 collection.

I'd of coughed on them...

They laughed their heads off.

Gave me a bottle of Hundred Acre Cab Sav 2014 Napa Valley.

I was going to open it but Pepperjack 2015 is on special so I grabbed a couple of bottles and I'm quaffing (sorry.. Sipping) a glass now.

Hope you guys are all well in these perilous times.

And remember this as I did today when for the umpteenth time the Handbrake tried to force some of her home grown cucumber on me.

Dr Johnson nailed it almost 300 years ago and I repeated it about an hour a go

I said, Madam, a cucumber should be well sliced, dressed with pepper and vinegar, and then thrown out.

*Pepperjack makes you brave doesn't  it!

This is certainly an improvement over the previous structure. 😉

Nice to see copious quantities of sound treatments - thing that a lot of audiophiles overlook.

Wooden floor and few windows is a good recipe for listening room.

There is certainly a need for good cables here. With such a long run to the power amps, one would need them to have low capacitance.

Hopefully Magicos sound better now than they did in the old room.

Very impressive.

@Chanh........ how good is the 2014 Tscharke, crazy good for the money.

It’s rocking  on day 2 and about to have a look at Guigal’s Cote d Rhone a perennial performer.

@Mendes

are you sure you aren't from Adelaide?

I find I like and may have had so many of your choices. Red, white and beer.  Heavy wine and lighter styles.
