Taylors - Jaraman 2017 Cab Sav

Has the pre-requisite number of gold stars and IMO a decent drop at the mid $20s

Our Annual Wine of the Year dinner was last night. Everyone brings a wine they think could be a contender....8 of us were in attendance and we held this at Aria restaurant, a 10 course degustation mat

Chilling at home this arvo-washing records,  giving them a spin, doing some cooking and oh, a few beverages ......keeping Mrs Mendes amused.....🙏🥂🍷🍻

Started with some southern Tassie Chardonnay and now enjoying some smoked beef shorties with a few glasses of damn nice 2012 McLaren Vale Shiraz.  Cheers all 🤙

Something cheap and cheerful to go with the sticky spare ribs in the oven... honey glaze next 😋

Drank this the other night, surprisingly good for the $15 6+ price from Wine Collective. . Something a bit different,  if you like Amarone this has a touch of it, full flavoured but not too long. Perfect with Italian,  of course!

Crikey , it’s hot here in the West this last week with a couple of 40 degree days coming up.

This Friuli Friulano San Pietro just the refreshing beverage for a day like today.

What drop might that be similar to Mr Mendes?

A relatively cheap Chilean  Carmenere washed down with a Terriyaki Salmon on the Weber .

Had a hankering for more savory character and this delivered nicely!,:thumb:

This one wasn't cheap ($80 at Dan's) but a very nice Piedmont nebb.

I don't know what has happened with the 4 figure bin numbers from the Hunter.  I don't think that any have been released since about 2014.

I bought some 2014 Bin 1410 Shiraz Special Reserve in Feb 2019 but haven't seen anything since.

Zeffer Cider Co - Apple Crumble Infused Cider.

Was intrigued by the title and took a gamble. Legitimately tastes likes apple crumble without being overly sweet. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

330ml; 4.0% alc; New Zealand

Double matured in Amoroso cask wood, makes a rather interesting Isle whisky. Distilled in 2008 bottled in 2018.

A Barossa kind of Friday evening, two really different varieties.

One Classic BV Shiraz and the other the future, both really enjoyable 🙏

Some very local vino that I picked up from cellar door a few years back.

It’s a great vineyard to visit if in Perth.

I did some research.

The Lindemans vineyards and winery (Ben Ean) have been sold to a consortium of other Hunter entities.

Peterson and Mcguigan are 2 of the new owners.  Peterson is better known for using their wine outlets as entertainment venues for conventions, weddings, restaurants etc.  Ben Ean seems to be going the same way.  Almost all of Peterson wine is from Mudgee despite their Hunter presence.

The new Ben Ean seems to be selling a handful of labels from around the place.  Amongst the brands they are selling is Penfolds??

Hunter Lindemans is no more.  A pity for a 170-ish year old winery/vineyard.  Treasury Wine Estates no longer has any Hunter  presence.

Some declassified 2015 Lovedale Semillon I picked up for $25 from Winestar in 2019, really enjoying this     right now but I think it will pay dividends to hide the others for a few more years if I can resist.

You reminded me that I have 1996 Elizabeth Semillon which I have totally forgotten about it, pity I can't open and drink it as I am still stuck in Singapore.

This is about as close to MR Sauvignon Blanc as I am to owning YG Sonja XVs🤣

Lovely stuff ( not that I’m  hating on the local version, it’s just completely different).
