Friends dropped over last night with "Meechi" Brewing Company Pale Ale. I know it is not IPA, but most 'boutique' brewers have some pretty wide interpretations of style. Pretty tasty and well balanced drop.

@setsergio, Ben Potts is one of the guys involved, who is also involved with Gypsy Jack wines, which has John Glaetzer as a partner, which then circles back to John's Blend red out of Langhorne Creek.

... I met those 2 crazy guys last year, Ben and John are really good fun, John has stories to die for.

John has made some of this countries greatest wines and most awarded winemaker if I remember correctly (Wolf Bass days).

Have been a big fan of Johns blend forever and the Gypsy Jack range over delivers big time.

So that I am not off thread................must track down Bens Pale Ale.....:D

Interesting to read good reports of the Meechi, I have only heard and read not so good things.

Hands down this is my favorite in this style (not for the faint of heart though as it a flavor bomb that packs quite a punch at over 7%abv

Sierra Nevada - Torpedo

https://www.ratebeer.com/beer/sierra-nevada-torpedo-extra-ipa/59261/

I have had a lovely four-pack of these recently, in pint cans.

Firstly, all beer should be in pints. Full stop. Charge want you want bastids but have it all in pints and we'll work it out.

I think it is the most 'chuggable' IPA I have tried, two pint cans after a good days work is really good, it is strange to find an IPA @ 7 something percent that is chuggable and thirst quenching on a warm arvo after work.

Slightly on the mild side but ever so slightly. Between this one and the Sculpin if you need more flavour for less chuggabilty, two excellent IPA's.

Right I better put the Torpedo on the list when I get home

Balter XPA, nice drop indeed!

http://www.balter.com.au/about

< The first is our XPA and it goes a little something like this…

It might be pale but there’s nothing weak about this bad boy. This XPA’s tropical and floral aromatics set off a fruity palette that will punch your taste buds in the pleasure zone. Tailored for those who enjoy a fully-hopped beer that’s still easy to drink. >

regards Ian

I didn't read all 3 pages so some one may have already mentioned...the very best IPA available in Oz today is the Mornington Brewery IPA - its freaking amazing. I have sampled a very very large number of IPAs and this is head and shoulders above them all.

Yep, sure is! Not beer this time but wine, discovered this amazing establishment purely by accident in Catania, Sicily last June.

I'm sure they sold beer as well however I was in awe just looking at their wine stocks!

Il Cantiniere

http://www.ilcantinierecatania.com/

check out how high they stack the wine!

https://www.google.com.au/search?q=Il+Cantiniere+catania&client=firefox-b&dcr=0&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjhm7bJ1tXWAhXJT7wKHZ49AzoQ_AUICigB&biw=1440&bih=721

they used library shelf ladders to reach the top shelves! Pity I couldn't hang around for thier Sunday night tastings.

100 wines on tasting, finger food too, all for a measly 10 euros, 7.30pm - 2am, those Sicilians know how to have a good time!

Bought a bottle of Benanti Nerello Mascalese, an Etna IGT wine unique to Mt Etna region for 20 euros, sells here for around Aus$50

https://vinicolabenanti.it/en/vini/mono_03.php

went down very nicely whilst on the upstairs courtyard of our airbnb in Palermo, Sicily!

Sadly back home now in the land of overtaxed beer and wine

regards Ian
