SBS On Demand-currently watching

Here's one from the left field - The Pier, from Spain.  A bit slow to start off, but makes up for it with many sultry women, lots of steamy sex (including a threesome). all set against the backdrop of a beautiful national park-cum-rice growing area near Valencia.  The first series remains unresolved, so obviously there will be a second one.

Fortitude... a little bit like Fargo, a little bit like Ozark.. but darker... (getting darker with almost every episode).

If you are a Fargo, Cohen Brothers style viewer, do not miss 'Perpetual Grace, Ltd'.

Brilliantly done.    Some pure, Top of the pile Actors involved.

SBS has SO many great series.

I have just finished binge watching "Bullets" which I enjoyed.

Yes the lead actress played a great part, she was also Tyrians love interest in GOT for a while.

Thanks guys for all your info.

I need to catch up with GOT. I have only seen the first 4 seasons :(

I have noticed that SBS On-Demand is showing some of the World Movies.

I probably won't bother about trying to tune my TV for World Movies. I will just watch them On-Demand.

There are hundreds of movies to watch.......as well as all the series.

I can't remember the last time I watched the commercial channels (7, 9 & 10).

Shae in GOT? She was also pretty good in a bunch of porn films before that. Worth tracking down.

I was actually disappointed when her character was no longer in GOT. The whole Tyrion/Shae relationship was one of the good things about the show at that stage.

Back To Life: recommended!

< They duly offer us a brilliant, hilarious tearjerker in Back To Life.

Daisy Haggard and Laura Solon teamed up to co-write the series, with Haggard starring as protagonist Miri Matteson. The first episode sees Miri arrive home to her family in Kent after 18 years serving a jail sentence. It’s not evident until the third episode what she was jailed for, but the level of malicious graffiti, death threats and aggression from the local community reveal it must have been drastically bad.

As her father suggests taking a selfie outside the jail, then snaps away as Miri gets out of the car to see the family home for the first time in years, her mother cheerfully announces they’ve freshly painted the hallway. “The same colour,” Miri responds. It’s droll, it’s perfect. >

pretty good so far, 4 episodes in

Asylum City

https://www.sbs.com.au/ondemand/program/asylum-city

< A thriller based on Liad Shoham's bestseller. In the world of asylum seekers in southern Tel Aviv, a young police investigator (Hani Furstenberg) tries to solve a complicated murder case. >

Riveria (season 2) is a guilty pleasure dispite the sometimes shaky script! All that eye candy! Exotic cars, locations and the ultra rich "beautiful people" with dark pasts!

Spiral is back!  IMHO the best police/crime series currently on TV by a long chalk.  Fast-moving, gritty and at times quite brutal showing the side of Paris that tourists never see.  Everyone seems corrupt, or able to be corrupted.  Great entertainment.

Below The Surface series I & II

https://www.sbs.com.au/ondemand/program/below-the-surface

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Below_the_Surface_(Danish_TV_series)

<Below the Surface (Danish: Gidseltagningen) is a Danish action hostage thriller drama television series, written and directed by Kasper Barfoed, that was based upon an idea of Adam Price and Søren Sveistrup. The first eight-part series focuses on an act of terrorism committed on the Copenhagen Metro, where fifteen people are taken hostage. Former soldier Philip Nørgaard (Johannes Lassen), who is head of the PET Terror Task Force, tries to save the hostages with help from members of his elite team.[1]

The basis for the series was adapted from a series of conversations between Barfoed and Danish photographer Daniel Rye, who lived as a hostage within the terrorist organisation of Islamic State in Syria for more than a year.[2] In Germany, the series is also known as Countdown Copenhagen.

On 2 April 2017, the series premiered in Denmark on Kanal 5, and was released on DVD in Germany on 19 October 2017.[3] In the United Kingdom, BBC4 broadcast the first four episodes during March 2018.[4] The BBC pulled the series from their schedule for 24 March only following the terrorist attack in Carcassonne[5] and continued on 31 March. The second season premiered on 26 March 2019 in Denmark. >

Yes we will do Series II soon, very much enjoyed 1. Have been catching up on Bosch but the latest series sorta stops in the middle. Might be more shows loaded soon I guess. Love the Lieutenant in Bosch, he plays a very interesting character.
