Midnight Oil Reforming

Recommended Posts

Saw them on Thursday night in Adelaide.

Fantastic show. The band, the sound quality, the light show and the high def screens either side of the stage were all first class.

Guitarists will appreciate the guitar porn on offer. They have some beauties!

I’m heading along tonight in Perth - looking forward to it. Last time I heard them it was in a university hall at orientation

How was it, AJ?

It was epic - probably the best concert I’ve been too in a heap of years. Expectations were not massively high for me but my wife was a huge fan so she was very amped about it. The Oils were tight and had great energy - pumped out a string of great Aussie anthems - was simply great. Perth stadium was great sonically and an amazing venue. Was disappointed with the sound the last couple of concerts there but this one had it nailed. This is a must see tour I reckon

Anyone at the Melb show when Jim M went down for the count?.

He has ripped him hammy to shreds and tour now in doubt?

I am due to them on Sat in Syd.

Even if he is replaced, it won't be the same

Hot off the press

Midnight Oil have issued a statement ensuring that the tour will continue as normal despite guitarist and keyboardist Jim Moginie’s injury.

MRI tests today revealed that Jim has a hamstring avulsion; a debilitating injury where the hamstring tendon is completely detached from the bone,” the statement reads.

“As such he will need to remain seated throughout the show instead of standing for his guitar songs as would otherwise have been the case.”

awesome concert last night from the Oil's.  These guys were playing so tight, you could tell they had been playing for the last 6 months.

Excellent performance, sound and stage show.  So many damn people thou - between 20-25,000 people I guess - certainly nowhere near as close as the shots above but gives you a certain scale.    but with the huge crowd, I ran into @Hensa of all people!! :thumb:  trust you enjoyed the concert Greg. :P

good luck at getting youtube to play HD.

Yep, another ripper of a show! We were a fair way back but sound was great, if not quite as good as at Hope where it seemed a bit louder. Great to briefly catch up, Shane!

Funny but true:

The day after the concert, I was watching the Oils on the Reef concert recorded on Max with my 7 year old daughter. She turns to me and says "Daddy, did you shave your head before the Midnight Oil concert to show respect to Peter Garrett?"  Not sure if I was more impressed that she grasped the concept of 'showing respect' or that she knew who Peter Garrett was!
