Guest guru
Strange thing is I can see a lathe but I can't see a press with a man in stripee pants standing beside it.

Anyone venture a guess or has some knowledge if they printed it or if it's a known pressing? Just curious.
EV Cali
On the first link, last pic, he's holding a white "Queen - A night at the opera". Anyone venture a guess or has some knowledge if they printed it or if it's a known pressing? Just curious. There were French and Dutch pressings ,at the time ,on white vinyl that are both collectable. Unable to see what pressing this one is in photo. Perhaps it is a sideline of his pressing plant .Hard to see a reason for him to be holding a record they did not press.
mondie
Fantastic news around the corner from our place too. I can see Andything sniffing around I hope this leads to small runs of Aussie vinyl from the 90 and 00's.
Newman
Well I didn't expect to see that. Good stuff.
Ian McP
A pressing plant is vastly complicated, having a Neumann cutting lathe is merely the start The owner will need laquer masters, the expertise to cut them, electroplating baths to make the mother, then a vinyl press. I visited Corduroy Records once located in Highett back in the late 90's, then run by the Breadmaker's bassist Nick Phillips. their cutting, plating and pressing line was a sight to behold, very backyard engineering! Here's some background http://www.smh.com.au/news/Livewire/Vinyls-last-stand/2005/03/23/1111254040164.html http://noisey.vice.com/blog/a-look-back-at-corduroy-records http://www.lathetrolls.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2490 Corduroy morphed into Zenith Records, still pressing vinyl http://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/vinyl-record-maker-reaching-for-a-new-zenith-20140620-zsf36.html http://www.zenithrecords.org/

Colin Forster, the owner of Roundabout Records, was on Radio 891 today. He is an avid record collector and the copy of Night at the Opera is the French version that was released before the record went on sale in the UK.
