Car Audio Setup Advice

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

looking at doing an upgrade on the car stereo. Plan is to upgrade the front speakers to 6.5" Spilts and add a small 8" sub in compact sealed box. I want to run this off a compact 4 channel amp (Tri Mode) under the passenger seat. The car is a 2010 golf.

Been out of the game for a while any recommendations for good brands in car audio which would suit the above?

Thanks

I'm using Focal K2 splits up front, dynamat and a focal 8" sub/2ch amp under the passenger seat in my Territory. Sounds great for a $1500 price including installation

What series sub is it? looking at the golf kit mentioned above and a matching focal sub sound like a good option

I had a mental system in my hi-ace van back in 2010, must find a pic of it.

if I recall, kenwood also make a head unit to directly replace the one in the golf. will give an upgrade for whole bunch of other stuff too apart from getting away from using speaker level signal and back to line level.

That is some quality old school gear. The CD is an absolute classic and will give many high end desk top cds a run for the money.

Trying to keep the car stock so looking at a stealth install and afraid these will not fit

Both Alpine & Kenwood's integration solutions look seemless. Worth checking out if they're within budget. Otherwise, there's a number of really small class d amps now available (Clarion & Alpine spring to mind) that can be hidden under dash and give a much needed boost. Then listen to Alpine or Hertz speakers that fit your budget. Remember to budget for sound deadening: cars are all terrible, acoustically speaking.
