SOLD: FS: Modded Sherbourn Pre-1 ***Price Reduction***

Recommended Posts

Item:  ****SOLD**** Sherbourn Pre-1
Location: Adelaide Hills
Price:
$475 ono + postage.
Item Condition: 8/10 (see below as I've had some upgrades installed).
Reason for selling: Replaced with a Primare PRE30 preamp so this needs to GO…
Payment Method: COD (can deliver if in SA metro area) or EFT
Extra Info:
A stereo preamp featuring audiophile performance and complete control. Fully at home in a dedicated music & HT system, it also offers the convenience of remote control, easy integration, and home theatre pass-through, for exceptional versatility.

Discover what a modern preamp can be with the PRE-1 as this punches well above it's price point. Case in point, I've had to move to a much higher-end pre to improve the sound & not by that much really (but don't tell my wife!!).

·      Pure analog signal path with microprocessor control

·      Machined aluminum remote control

·      Balanced (XLR) and single-ended (RCA) inputs and outputs

·      MM/MC Inputs

·      Headphone output

·      RS232 control and trigger inputs/outputs

I've also had the RCA signal path op amps replaced with burr brown OPA 2134 and two new Nichicon Muse coupling caps in the signal path upgraded by Bruno from Kasum Audio in Adelaide.

I had this work done whilst Bruno was looking at an issue (I lost the sound in one channel) which ended up being a simple soldering issue on the board but Bruno has re-soldered the entire board plus the upgrades which cost approx $250.  I've not had the issue crop up again & this work was done over 12 months ago. The sound improvement from the op amps & caps was very noticeable & as I said above, this pre punches well above it's asking price.

It's very hard to find a pre at this price range with balanced inputs/outputs, MC/MM input plus HT bypass which I used extensively in my HT/2CH set up. I'm only selling as I picked up a Primare Pre30 recently in these classifieds.

I have the original box & remote plus the manual.

I might just add although Matt didn't mention this. All power supply caps after the main rectifier were changed over to Nichicon Muse and extra filtering on last stage of regulators was added via Elna Silmic caps plus an inductive filter. The main output relay was also replaced as this was found to be the major cause of the channel dropout.Hope this helps.
