Hi y'all I just completed modding and making an enclosure for my 'guanzo valve buffer' ... (based on Matisse circuit allegedly) (found at: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Buffer-6N3-Tube-Preamp-Pre-Amplifier-based-on-Matisse-circuit-with-transformer-/120954317481?pt=AU_Electronics_Audio_Amplifiers&hash=item1c29706aa9 ) ...and it sounds rather good. If you keep the volume pot on there, it can be used as a pre-amp, which I have also trialled with good results. ...I use this between a preamp to amp as it is a surround amp which generally have thier limitations sonically, and this brings the sound forward quite admirably; with greater transparancy, imaging and soundstage - not to mention a natural 'live-like' effect. This is just used on the front amp > speakers only in 'stereo mode', which are in turn used only for music listening. When in 'surround mode' ie: watching movies etc, it adds a dimension of realism that makes the cinematic experience quite compelling ... I replaced the chinese tubes (which were OK) with 'Krasny Octyabr' tubes which brought out more detail, dynamics and crispness quite noticeably ... The volume potentiometer has been taken off and contacts bridged/soldered with Mundorf silver solder; and all connections resoldered with Mundorf. The rca plugs were taken out and silver plated balanced mic cable soldered directly to the Guanzo, in/out and just plugged into pre/amp. All are earthed to 'source' ie: shield, so source shield soldered to preamp rca & floating sheild to Guanzo input connection hard wired; and then shield output soldered to source guanzo and other end of shield floating to rca plugs output to amp. Entire case is shielded to earth via powerpoint plug and the wires to switch on front panel are shielded to earth via shielding in the part of a length of (thick) mic cable I used for the connection from back plug to switch; and fits just nicely (but tightly) in this Hammond case... ...I am quite happy with the results...

Item: Musical Fidelity X10-D Location:Canberra Price: $150 Item Condition: very good Reason for selling: no longer needed Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: this one is missing the original power supply. I will include another power supply that works with it. The power supply doesn't have an on switch, so it needs to be switched on at the power point. I just had look at an original one and can't se a switch there either, so I think thats how its designed Pictures:
