  2. Further information: Tubadour III R2R NOS Tube DAC. RRP: $2140 AUD direct from USA manufacturer. Please ad 30% for shipping, import duty, tax and customs fees in Australia. Custom made for 230V. Only 1 month old - unexpected downsizing. From Audio Mirror: It is based on Analog devices AD1865N-K flagship DAC chip. This is the best and most analog and musical sounding DAC chip ever made. Tubes used in the DAC are 5977 subminiature tubes. They are mounted on a special tube adaptor, which is plugged into a regular 9 pin tube socket. You can just unplug the adaptor and use regular 9pin tubes, which can be any of the following tubes: 6N1P, 6DJ8, ECC88, 6922 and 6H23P. After experimenting with many tubes we found that 5977 is the best sounding tube for this application. Second best sounding tube is 6N1P. After all it’s a matter of taste. All the 9pin tubes mentioned above have almost twice the gain of 5977, therefore you will have twice higher output level from the DAC - around 2V. Expected tube life for 5977 subminiature tubes is >5000 hrs. Specifications: Sample rates: S/PDIF, AES 44.1- 192kHz Optical/Toslink 44.1 - 96kHz DSD - converted by player to PCM "on the fly" Bit depth: Up to 24 bit over S/PDIF, AES, Toslink Dimensions: With 33cm x Depth 30cm x Height 8cm Stereotimes Review by Terry London: “In the last seven years, I have had numerous DACs in-house for listening and reviewing purposes. They ranged in price from $1,200 up to $25,000” “Tubadour III SE DAC will compete with and will out-perform many DACs that cost tremendous amounts more on the market today. This DAC will be staying in my system. It is the new “benchmark” for me based on the details stated in the review.” Superbestaudiofriends Review: “The Tubadour III possesses the X-factor that allows me to get goosebumps from certain musical passages, even if the rest of the chain is very modest in stature. It is very easy to listen for hours without fatigue and get sucked into the music.” Audiogon by Vassils, Comparison with Audio Note 5.1 (cost 4 times more): "I saw that thread became active again, so let me post an update. I built the Audio Note Kits DAC 5.1. I went nuts and put Duelund tinned copper caps, Vishay Z-foil resistors, expensive silver wire, silver WBT connectors, etc. etc. The list goes on. I am very happy with the result. No regrets that I sold my Terminator DAC. The sound now is more dynamic, more analog, musical, better refined. The bass on the Terminator was always muddy, and now it is very well defined. I guess it is a matter of personal preference. If crystal clear details is the most important thing for you, the Terminator may very well be a better choice. If you want to experience music and like to feel that the musicians are playing in your room, give the ANK 5.1, the new Audio Mirror DAC, or another well design AD1865 DAC a try. After I gave the ANK 5.1 enough break-in time, I took my friend’s Audio Mirror DAC at home again and did a lot of A/B testing for over a week. Surprisingly (or not) they sounded so close that it was hard to believe I spent four times more money for my DAC. There were songs I could not pass an A/B test, and there were songs I could. I liked my ANK DAC better, but I still wonder if I tweaked the Audio Mirror DAC with better coupling caps, resistors, wire, connectors, etc. The difference between the two DACs was much smaller than the difference between the streamers in my system. Actually adding or removing the fiber media converters in my network probably made a bigger difference than the A/B between these two DACs. I think the difference in sound comes down to the different tubes these DACs use, the different coupling capacitors, and a couple minor things in their design - the ANK DAC has more sophisticated power supply, while the AM DAC may have a little better digital section, or at least that’s what I think the differences come from. A person on another forum with a Terminator DAC contacted me and after chatting for a while, he ordered a custom Audio Mirror DAC with some upgrades I recommended (Duelund caps, Z-foils, and pretty much all the tweaks I made to my ANK DAC). Last I heard he sold his Terminator and was super happy with the AM DAC. I am considering selling my ANK DAC and buying an Innuos server and an Audio Mirror DAC that I can tweak with my favorite sounding parts. I think I wouldhave better sound, because the source makes a big difference with these DACs. But it’s hard to replace the almost 40 lbs ANK box that is nearly the size of my PS Audio P20 Power Regenerator with the tiny little AM device that weights and costs a fraction of the ANK. It does not feel right :). Although I already know it "sounds" right :). Hope that helps. I highly recommend both of these DACs. Audition whichever fits your budget if you can.” Photos: PLEASE READ If you are advertising multiple items, you must post one bulk price only, or post seperate ads for each item If you include any reference to pricing whatsoever in this section (excluding RRP), your ad will not be approved If you don't include photographs of the actual item being sold, your ad will not be approved

  6. Further information: I love this preamp, true balanced design with 8 x 6922 tubes and an outboard power supply. It is in beautiful condition and is a sonic gem! It has a neutral sound with a tube sweetness at the top and could be the pre to revolutionise your system... For the purist there is a single ended and balanced "direct" input that ensures the shortest signal bypassing the other front controls I will box the pre and power supply in separate boxes with plenty of protection for safe transport. 7. I intended using this with my Manley Mahi power amps, but never did, so it has been in storage for a number of years. It was an ex demo unit when I acquired it, so has very few hours on it. 'Tis a thing of beauty and needs to find an owner who will love and appreciate it. It is in its original packaging, with original valves and owner manual.

  18. Item: Custom Lampizator Amber 2 R2R & Volume Control Location: Auckland NZ Price: $4600AUD Item Condition: Mint/Near New Reason for selling: Change of direction Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal - buyer pays fees or send as friend Extra Info: Pretty much NIB Custom Lampizator Amber 2 still sat in its original double cardbox box unused. This is no ordinary Amber 2 though, with the same R2R DAC board from the Atlantic, 44khz Super Clock, 5v 5Y3 Rectifier, the Baltic Analog output section with 6N6P tubes, remote volume control with analog in and dual parallel analog outputs, rca spdif, toslink, BNC and USB - The works! I was informed by the NZ dealer that the final tuning was done by Lukasz himself. I had this delivered in Feb 2019, with big plans for an entire new system based around the Lampizator, but life circumstances changed and I have downsized my system significantly. It had approx 1 months use and has been boxed since then. I was hoping to put it back in the system, but time to let it go to a home where it will see the use it deserves. This is a very flexible and amazing sounding DAC/Pre that can be the control centre of your entire system. The lampizator sound is in full effect: detailed, musical, smooth, big and what I can only describe as expensive sounding. I have fully tested prior to listing and everything is 100%. The Lampizator is an absolutely mint condition with both Factory warranty stickers intact, which means there is over 4 years to go on the Lampizator transferable warranty. The Power supply is switchable between 230v and 115V so good for the most of the world. If you are in the market for a new Lampizator Amber, get this instead and grab $2400nzd of upgrades for free for less than the price of the current Amber. I'll even throw in an extra set of 6N6P and an extra 5Y3. Shipping to Aus would be approx $250 AUD. Will consider trade/exchange for a banging set of higher power Tube Mono Blocks - for those that would love the DAC but don't have $5k sat around BUT (like most of us) have a bunch of extra gear collecting dust If you have something post in the comments and I'll check em out. Looking for 60W plus, would love a set of mc60’s.

If you are in the market for a new Lampizator Amber, get this instead and grab $2400nzd of upgrades for free for less than the price of the current Amber. I'll even throw in an extra set of 6N6P and an extra 5Y3. Shipping to Aus would be approx $250 AUD. Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  25. Item: Mullard 5-10 Monoblock Pair Project Location: Northcote, Victoria Price: 350 Item Condition: Project Reason for selling: Surplus to Time Payment Method: Pickup - Cash Extra Info: Included: Fully built but not working 100% Monoblock Second unbuilt monoblock (chassis, transformers, turretboards) I bought this pair of monoblocks a few years ago from a chap in South Australia, he was the original purchaser of the kits in the late 1950's/early 1960's. He had told me he purchased the first monoblock in 1957, mail order via a magazine for a kit of parts and a separate order directly with A&R of Melbourne for the power and output transformers. A few years later in the early 1960's he purchased the second monoblock to accomodate his modern stereo system. Both apparently served a flawlessly for decades before being put away for 40 years. I purchased them in original condition, stripped them all down and rebuilt. One of the chassis was surcuming to rust pitting so it was resprayed. Alas, time really has gotten away from me and my motivation to finish the project off has gotten to the point where it makes sense to move them on. As it stands, one of the units is fully built and working, though there are grounding issues I haven't got time to sort out. Since it isn't working flawlessly - I'm going to sell it as 'repair' condition. The second unit needs to be built, it will come with the sheet metal chassis, transformers and stuffed turret boards. I collected a fair bit of information on the classic Mullard 5-10 as well as A&R transformers whilst in research mode for this project so will pass all of that on.
