  1. Hi All, I have just taken delivery of a Kenwood KP-9010. I love these beasts, I also have a KP-7010 and a KP-1100 (soon). I know I don't need to tell anyone here what happens when you get hooked on one particular brand or model The 9010 has just arrived and essentially it's in beautiful condition and generally speaking operates flawlessly. you know there's a "but" coming... But, the tonearm lift mechanism is not working as it should. My 7010 lifts and lowers very smoothly but this 9010 drops the tonearm like a stone. It's less than subtle. I've read through a service manual for a similar turntable but there's nothing specific about the mechanical servicing of this component. I'm just wondering if anyone on Stereo.net has had any experience with this particular fault on these Kenwoods or might have some suggestions please? And I'm sorry there's no pics, in my excitement yesterday when it arrived I spent all my time setting up the tonearm, headshell and cartridge and then listening to records I simply forgot. I'll post some pics tonight, I promise.

  3. Hi All, A friend who owns an original Rega P3 asked me if it’s possible to get a replacement tonearm? I don’t know what happened to the original but What’s the recommendation or is it more “price” sensible to purchase a new tt & arm (perhaps a new Rega)? thoughts are appreciated.

  7. Item: OL Alliance- awesome tonearm and works nicely as an upgrade to many mid level TTs that suffer from cheap budget arms Location: Sydney Price: $250 firm plus postage, rrp is approx $500. Item Condition: very good, comes with all packaging and box for travel, the manual and mounting kit. (No cart and no turntable as in picture.) Reason for selling: i switched out to an arm that is made by my tt manufacturer to get the right geometry, as TT arm board is non Rega and should be 5mm shorter. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, eft Extra Info: I can only concur with the reviews, it’s an upgrade arm for many decks with Rega geometry, that punches well above its weight. I have been v happy with it on a $4k Wilson Benesch turntable but I am unsure how the lessor 5mm sounds, which is the difference of Rega and WB specs. Google the OL arm , but I can’t find any negative reports and it bests the equivalent Rega arms. Here is some review info https://www.originlive.com/hi-fi/tonearm/budget-tonearm-alliance/ Pictures:

  12. Item: AT 1100 tonearm Location: Canbera Price: 350 Item Condition: needs some work Reason for selling: no needed Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: these tonearms sell for $500–$700 however requires some work. This should be relatively easy for a technicaly skilled person ( unlike me) 1.the tonearm is missing the locking screw that fixes the pipe in place. I think a tech person could fix something fir this, or you could just glue it on place. Its a very short screw. Pictures:
  13. Item: Rega RB101 tonearm Location: Perth Price: SOLD Item Condition: Lots of chips in the paintwork but no dents Reason for selling: NLR Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: This has been rewired with litz wire but cable length is only 50cm from the base of the arm. The magnetic anti-skate is annoying in that it slips from its setting but can held in place with a spot of blu-tac. Also please note the rivet that has replaced the original tonearm lifter. But this is a quality arm, the only area it seemed deficient in was bass. Pictures:

  19. Howdy all, not sure if this should be here or in the "Beginners & Purchasing Advice" section, please feel free to move if it is more suitable there. Roughly four and a half months ago I purchased Betty the SL120 : Betty and I have shared some amazing moments together in our short time, as such I feel she deserves a special treat. All silliness aside, I have just purchased an Ortofon 2M Blue to replace the cart that came with the TT and I am now considering upgrading the tonearm. I am wondering if this is a worthwhile investment and if so where a good starting point would be, and I suppose as a secondary question would I be better off spending the money somewhere else in the system? I am not sure how relevant all the other info is but here is the system as it stands: - SL120 Fitted with an SL1200 MK II arm - Ortofon OM ProS (About to be replaced with the OM2 Blue) - Yamaha AX-497 Amplifier (Using the amps built in phono stage) - Dali Concept 6 and B&W DM602 S3s (Currently having a shoot out between the speakers to decide which stays) I understand that with the new cart, a tonearm would see me spending well over what the TT cost me to begin with however there is something about the old Technics TTs that appeals to me. Any suggestions and/or advice appreciated. Cheers, Terry
  20. I have aquired a Grace g-707 that has been trashed and I'm restoring it. The metal parts of the arm are in good condition, part of the anti-skating assembly was cracked, but repairable, but the headshell is completely missing. So what I want to do is 3D print a replacement headshell. Using images on the internet I can get a pretty good idea of the geometry, but for accuracy I need actual measurements. Is there a g-707 owner out there who can get a ruler, or better yet some calipers and give me the dimensions? Only need the headshell, not the arm. Here are the measurements I need (in rough order of priority): width length max depth (at the back) min depth (at the front) outside diameter of the arm mounting tube length of the arm mounting tube distance from front to start of screw holes length of screw holes width of screw holes spacing of screw holes (should be 1/2", yes?) thickness of the plastic lastly, if you can measure the angle between the arm and the headshell that would be great. You can refer to the image to see what I'm talking about. If you can't be bothered doing them all then just the length, width and depth would be a great help.
  21. Hi all, Just swapping out the cart on my Rega P25 and as the rca cables are not marked as L and R or color coded I though I would meter out the cables and mark them. This is where the problem starts. The cart indicates that Red and Green are the Right channel pair and White and Blue are the Left channel pair which I assume is an industry standard. When I meter out the the cables they don't seem to match. The red wire at the cartridge end goes to the centre pin of one lead with 1.2 ohms resistance, The green wire goes to the outer of the opposite rca (I assume the outer is the negative) with a resistance of 1.2 ohms. The white wire goes to the centre pin of the other rca with 1.2 ohms resistance and the blue wire goes to the opposite outer with 1.2 ohms resistance. Not sure if those resistances are high or not but it would appear as though the left and right channels are not matched to the same rca connector. Obviously I can change them on the cart when i connect it up but I guess my main question is, is this the way it is supposed to be or would i be better to swap the green and blue so that the channels are paired on the on rca? Your assistance will be greatly appreciated. Cheers Matt.

  23. Item: Origin Live Conqueror Mk3C Tonearm Location: Napier, New Zealand Price: $2,000.00 Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: Not Compatible Payment Method: Paypal Extra Info: I bought this a few months ago on another forum. It was used so I am the second owner. I have put it on a Technics SL1210 Mk5g. In terms of looks it is quite impressive, imposing even. The fixed headshell looks good but on close inspection it would benefit from a polish - actually I have some Autosol, so will probably do that myself. I am selling it as it is not compatible with my system. Sonically it was solid but I was hoping for something that would be better than my Jelco. I was warned that the Vintage Technics tables work best with arms of that era. Jelcos are a good match. Others I was advised to get were the SME M2-9 or a Fidelity Research. This arm should go on a more modern table to do it justice. It is also difficult to adjust the VTA. But that is only because of the Technics low deck. The grub screw to turn (with an allen key) is located below the adjusting wheel. It is doable, and I have got the right height, but it is a bit fiddly. Again this will not be a problem on deck that does not have such a low platter. The wiring is a continuous run and again is not ideal for a Technics where the wiring has to come out of the bottom of the deck. Shipping: I have the Origin Live custom wooden box for it, but would double box that within another (that was how I received it). I will pick up the shipping and paypal fees. Tracked and Signed for. Buyer to take care of insurance. https://www.originlive.com/tonearms-all-origin-live-arms/tonearm-conqueror.html Pictures: The second picture is one of a series I took to send to Magna Audio in England who needed the measurements for the armboard.
