  1. Item: Thiel CS 1.6 Speakers Location: Sydney Price: $1795 Item Condition: Good Reason for selling: Upgraded Payment Method: Cash, EFT Extra Info: I have had these Thiel's from new and really enjoyed them. I am selling them due to upgrading. They are in good condition albeit with a couple of slight imperfections in the domes and a couple of small marks on the cabinets but sound excellent. Pictures:
  2. Item: Thiel CS2.7 Location: Melbourne Price: $6800 Item Condition: Mint Reason for selling: need funding Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Up for sale is a pair of Thiel CS2.7 speaker around 2 year old with remaining 8 year warranty. It is reluctant sale as my current set up is sound so good and do not know what happen when this go. This perhaps one of the quite under rate speaker in the market, beautiful mid and top with very good and solid base at the bottom, in fact it beat my Magico Q3 speaker several times more expensive in AB comparisons with my Vitus integrate SS25. Only selling because I found it would be easier for me the sell Thiel than to sell my Magico Q3 on the market. Not too sure this is a right decision, but this speaker is truly good speaker that rock when paired with right amplifier. Currently this speaker pairing vintage Leaks TL50 tube amp with outstanding result. Audition are welcome for serious buyer. Have all the boxes and manual and since due to the size and weight of the speaker, currently prefer local pick up. Donation to SNA if sold. Pictures:
  3. Item: Thiel MCS1 Speaker Location: Sydney Northern Beaches Price: $900 Item Condition: Very good outside condition. Both the woofers have some deformities. See photos. Reason for selling: Not being used. Need funds Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: As can be seen on the photos both the 6.5inch woofers had the dust cap pushed inwards. As it is a aluminium driver, when I pulled them back out it did leave some visual marks. The marks do not affect the sound of the speaker and you can use the speaker cover and will never know there is a visual annoyance from the dust caps. Some specs: Nominal Power: 300 Watt RMS; Magnetic Shielding: Magnetically Shielded; Speakers Function: Main / Stereo; Construction: 3-Way; Connectivity: Cable; Frequency Reponse: 47 Hz - 23 kHz; Sensitivity: 90 dB; Woofer Size: 6.5; Woofer Material: Metal; Tweeter Size: 1; Midrange Size: 3.5; Cabinet Finish: Metallic & wood. It is hand made in USA and has the signature of the person who made it in the back. Its got a beautiful wood finish and this this is heavy, 34kg. they weigh the same as my much bigger Kef R900 floorstander. These retailed $3000usd each. There is a pair on eBay for $3500 currently (second hand) so $1000 justifies the asking price. Was originally going to be used as a centre speaker for a home theatre setup as its perfect for laying down horizontally. Pictures:
  4. Have just spent a pleasant 2 hr auditioning a pair of Thiel CS 3.7s at Class A audio. Had to go in and pick something up and Kevin offered the chance to take a listen. Initially he had a pair of ProAc floor standers and I didn't like them at all. Something horribly wrong with the bass. So in came the 3.7's. Wow what a difference. Had never heard this particular speaker and I have to say its very impressive. At $17k rrp its far from cheap but I have heard a lot worse for the $. IMO would certainly take these over Wilson Sasha, Alexia, B&W 802 or 800, or the big Dynaudio's. The most impressive thing was the amazing soundstage. With very little effort taken to optimise position they produced an amazing soundstage. As good as anything I have heard with a sane price. The system was the 3.7's driven by Trigon monologue monobloc's, Accuphase C-2420 pre, and either Trigon music server or Accuphase CD player. With the soundstaging of the 3.7's this evening was unintentionally the best demonstration of how two different front end components can influence soundstage I have ever heard. The imaging difference between the Trigon server and the Accuphase CD player was immediately obvious. Big win to the Accuphase. Not that the Trigon was bad but I did suddenly wonder how to get $11k to buy the Accuphase which is hard for a music server zealot like me to say. In any event the fact that I picked the difference so clearly tells me that these speakers are worth a harder look. And I can't help wondering how good they could be if some time was spent dialling them into the correct position. My thanks to Kevin for his time and the offer of a special price to try and tempt me Bad photo attached Disclaimer. I don't have shares in Thiel or any association with Class A Audio. Just thought to share my observations.
  5. http://www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/thiel-audio-embarks-on-brand-revitalization-appoints-new-ceo/ Am I the only one that worries when I read management gobbledygook like this? In particular: "THIEL is placing an emphasis on designing new products to address a broad range of market segments including but not limited to high performance audio, home theater and the custom installation channel. Part of the new go-forward strategy will be to broaden the audience for THIEL Audio products by establishing key relationships for the brand; making the line visible to luxury buyers as well as the traditional audiophile." luxury buyers? So does that mean that we get the CS 3.7 in fashion colours and I can look forward to Thiel speakers in my new lexus? I hope they do a premium iPod doc and a stylish soundboard. Am I too cynical? I hope I'm wrong but.....
