  1. Item: Monitor audio MA14 Gold speakers Location: Sydney Price: $650 Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: not used Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Beautiful set of Monitor Audio MA14 gold series mk2 speakers. They dont get used much at all. Very warm and detailed speakers, they easily compare to modern 2-3k speakers and will sound even better in my opinion. the gold tweeter is amazing and the midrange and bass is accurate/punchy. They have a bit of fading on the lower cabinet side due to grills not taken out often. these can be filled with sand from the back compartment. I can post these for 85$ Australia wide professionally packed with heavyduty cardboard and bubble.wrap. Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  2. Item: Emotiva BAS-X A-150 power amplifier Location: Sydney Price: $450 Item Condition: Used 2 months old Reason for selling: changed amplifier Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Just over a month old. bought on the 20/05/19. but only had a few hours of use. Changed my mind and got schiit vidar to match my preamp and dac. Bought from Apollo hifi in Marrickville for $575 will sell for $450 from the website "The BasX A-150 delivers 75 watts RMS per channel at less than 0.1% THD into 8 ohms; THD+N of less than 0.02%; and a signal to noise ratio of 120 dB referenced to full power. This makes the BasX A-150 the ideal amplifier to serve as the foundation of a great sounding small stereo system." See product details below https://www.apollohifi.com.au/emotiva-a-150-stereo-power-amplifier.html?gclid=Cj0KCQjwoInnBRDDARIsANBVyAQBgBKOGmRehMan9C_2O33L3sXs0Fdek5Xqli1KkRiND0QRLgzF1pgaAjr2EALw_wcB See review in link below https://www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/emotiva-a-150-basx-power-amplifier/ Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  3. Item: Audio GD NFB-11.28 Location: Redfern / Sydney CBD Price: $380 $350 Item Condition: Great (a couple of scratches) Reason for selling: NLR (bought a smaller DAC+Amp unit for my nightstand) Payment Method: Pickup - Cash/PayID/Bank transfer Extra Info: Up for grabs is the classic Audio GD NFB-11.28 in great condition: one scratch on the volume knob and a couple of scratches on the base of the unit. Selling because I wanted more room on my nightstand so I bought a smaller DAC+Amp unit Would prefer pickup from Redfern or Sydney CBD, but can post at buyers expense, too Pictures:
  4. Item: Audio GD R2R-11 Location: Redfern, NSW Price: $420 Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: NLR Payment Method: PayID/Bank transfer Extra Info: Purchased 8 months ago direct from Audio GD (US$380 shipped to Australia), this is in near-mint condition: just finger smudges inherent in the matte finish Selling because I've upgraded my speakers to the Vanatoo Transparent One Encore, which has a built-in DAC, so I no longer need this combo DAC/head/pre amp Comes with an AU power plug, though I no longer have the original box (which, given it's Audio GD, was just a generic cardboard box) Pickup in Sydney CBD/Redfern preferred, but I can post at buyers expense, too Pictures:
  5. Item: 2× JBL 305P MkII (incl. 2× XLR → RCA cable) Location: Redfern, NSW Price: $400 for the pair Item Condition: Very good Reason for selling: Upgrading to new speakers Payment Method: PayID/bank transfer Extra Info: Purchased 7 months ago from DJ City, these are in very good condition: main blemish is some scuffing on the top of one of the speakers (which I've tried to capture in the next-to-last photo) Comes with 2× Connex 3M XLR → RCA cable Extended 5 year warranty (4.5 years remaining) Original (double) boxes Originally purchased to buy time for a backorder of a different set of speakers — which is finally coming this week Pictures:
  6. Item: Massdrop x Sennheiser HD 6XX Location: Redfern/CBD, Sydney Price: $250 Item Condition: Mint Reason for selling: NLR Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, PayID Extra Info: Massdrop’s version of the HD 650 (identical sound), these are just 6 months old and in mint condition — with 1.5 years warranty remaining They retail for US$200 (plus US$15 for incredibly slow/frustrating shipping) — about A$300 total Over the past few months I used them on and off to compare with a pair of HD 600, and finally settled on the HD 6XX sound signature — so much so that I’ve upgraded to the Focal Elex (which some have dubbed as the HD 6XX/650’s big brother) Pictures:
  7. Item: Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro (32 Ohm) Location: Redfern/CBD, Sydney Price: $125 Item Condition: Good Reason for selling: NLR Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, PayID Extra Info: Originally purchased in 2015, these Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pros sound fantastic but don’t get much use these days as I’ve collected more headphones They’re in good condition: a few scratches on the metallic frames between the headbands and the cups; and the ear pads are a bit worn in (but oh so comfortable) Pictures:
  8. Hi guys, I have enrolled in the THX Certified Video Class for the end of March. I was wondering whether there was anyone in the Sydney region that would be interested in a free TV or Projector calibration after easter? I will be offering this to the first 5 people to get back to me. This will help me gain THX Certification and all I ask for in return is a review of my work upon completion. If anyone is interested you can reply on here or PM me. I am sure I will know alot more upon completion of this course but if you have any questions feel free to let me know.
  9. Item: Modded Sennheiser HD650 Location: Sydney Price: $250 inc. 10% SNA donation Item Condition: Modded, otherwise 1 year old and well taken care of Reason for selling: Upgraded to Focal Clear Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: SBAF KISS modded using 3M double sided tape (see photos). Link to original instruction and FAQ page: http://www.superbestaudiofriends.org/index.php?threads/hd650-kiss-mod.3440/ Tl;dr of the mod is that it tightens the bass and drops it a few dBs to retain the smoothness of the 650 while bringing the sound closer to the neutral tone of the HD600. Mod is reversible (take off the tape and reinsert the half-moon foam into the central spider cage). It's not easy for me to let this pair of audio history go. Before hearing the Focal Clear my opinion of the 650 was that it either sounded better, or less flawed than many headphones under $1500 mark. The sound is clear, detailed and most importantly, non-fatiguing regardless of genre or mix. Comes with the headphone, stock cables and 3.5mm adapter only. Original box has been lost due to the size it took up in storage. Pickup preferred, but I'd be open to arranging delivery within 50km of Sydney. Pictures:

  17. With Sydney receiving 8.3 million domestic overnight visitors and 2.8 million international visitors (year ending December 2012) Together with a Metropolitan population for the Greater Sydney area of 4.6 million we've got a lot of main stream entertainment that's broadcast nationally. But what is missed is the vibrant, enthusiastic raw talent we have under the surface of the general media, hence this thread to bring to the surface some of Sydney's best home grown, low cost and intimates shows you wouldn't normally hear about. Feel free to add Events that are specific to Sydney - Music, Art, Culture Regular Events; Pretty Gritty - http://www.pretty-gritty.net/index.html "a bimonthly home for ambient electronica and other poorly named genres that play with noise, shattered melodies and broken beats. 20. Item: 1pair Dali DaCapo Ribbon Speakers. Vintage unknown but Dali top of line speaker from 1988 to 1992. New price then was ~$6k. Later full size ribbon speakers way more than that. I purchased these to do a full refurb, having heard these in 1992, wanted them, but could not afford back then. Started refurb, but the SQ was way better than my earlier speakers [ribbons from 400Hz & up] & after the crossovers were refreshed they stayed hooked up. Previous owner purchased new, was a classical music lover & sold them when he moved into a retirement home. I have used with a sub & electronic crossover. My project would have been similar to John Reekie's minidsp & 2 way fully active. But I never started after buying 2 spare ribbons. I was happy listening to these as they were. These still kick arse in SQ with original ribbon drivers. Beth Hart "Your Heart is as Black as Night" is rendered with a lot of impact and raw emotion. Suit a vintage hifi system or some one wanting audiophile grade ribbon speakers on a budget. So cheap but have to go. Unfortunately my wife wants the space back & the second pair of speakers must go & does not care if either the Maggies or the Dalis go, so long as back to one pair. I could live with either. I have a Bryston 2B Power Amp to suit with first dibs to the buyer. Location: Sydney Price Drop: $1,200 to $1,000 including 2 spare ribbons in sealed vials I purchased for the full refurb for $400 for the pair. These replacement ribbons when installed will last another 25 years. Dali still have spare parts. Item Condition: Ribbons & woofers fully functional, but one ribbon has been repaired. Crossover capacitors refreshed 1 year ago. Ribbon grill cloth could do with a refresh. If you know how to put on a pair of stockings then you should be capable of replacing the grey ribbon cloth. There is one 5 mm diameter nick out of the lower LHS ribbon panel. It is small, although it looks huge in the close up photo. Close to the floor & hardly noticeable. Black grill cloth fine on woofer box. Metal base is fine as is both of the aluminium top bars. The RHS amplifier connectors have been replaced with Jaycar gold/brass connectors on the copper bars connecting to the ribbon and woofer speakers. The photos show reflection from the flash for the woofer membrane & the ribbon but in normal light these are difficult to see. Reason for selling: Upgraded, wife wants these gone to reclaim the sun room. I cannot justify another set of ribbon speakers PM me if you have any questions or would like an audition. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash Extra Info: 1. Due to weight (30kg) & size, expensive to ship. I do not have suitable boxes to pack, so pick up only 2. Prepared to swap for a power amp. These are smaller PM with offer. Brochure here http://www.dali-spea...ALI-DaCapo.aspx [Danish] Manual attached - an interesting read & no longer on the Dali website. Drivers: Woofer - 10" X 40" membrane driven by 8" woofer - to match the dispersion characteristics of the ribbon near the crossover frequency Midrange/tweeter - 40" ribbon Frequency Response - 45 - 20kHz +/- 4dB Crossover Frequency: 400Hz Sensitivity (2.83V) - 85dB @ 1m Recommended amplifier - 50 to 200W / channel [easy to drive as the ribbon is 4ohm & not capacitive nor inductive] Dimensions Height - 118cm Depth (inc. base) - 31cm Depth (exc. base) - 15cm Width - 45cm Weight - 30kg each Pictures: Images attached Attached Thumbnails Attached Files DALI_DACAPO.pdf 607.97KB 9 downloads
  21. After Darwin switches off analog TV on July 30, there are no more switch offs until December 3 & 10, where Sydney, Melbourne and Remote Central & Eastern Australia switch off analog TV for the last time. Should the shutdown be brought forward, e.g. from December 3 & 10 to September 3 & 10 or even August 6 & 13? Of course, this would have to be subject to consultation.

  25. We're having a meet (headphones, IEMs, amps and dacs) in Sydney, near Epping station on Sat 18th Aug 3:30-8:30 We have about 20 people coming along at the moment (the original topic is on another forum), and a couple of vendors and would like to extend the invitation to stereo.com.au members (and hopefully not get banned for an ad-like post ) The costs are about $10-15 depending on the number of attendees and including refreshments and lunch. Not sure what the cross posting rules are, but you can google for the details - we've organized a meet last year in Hornsby and it was fun and over the day about 50 people attended with a wide variety of gear. If you're interested, please PM me your name, email and/or contact number (since I have only a few posts, I can probably send 1-2 pms max a day, so really - please include an email , or just contact me on hf instead) and a list of gear you wish to bring, and I'll PM you the location closer to the meet date (probably 2-3 days before, but the venue (close to Epping station by foot))
