  1. Brains trust: Looking for a suitable RCA cables for my suspended Thorens TD160 Super and SME 3009 series III arm, where the interconnect won't't interfere with the "bounce" of the table. Budget: Can't pay stupid prices. (Would love 2nd hand) thanks
  2. Item: Linn Sondek LP12 / Valhalla / SME 3009 S2 Improved / Shure V15 Type III with original Shure stylus Location: Chisholm NSW 2322 Price: $2500 Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: Not getting much use as I have other turntables Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, Bank deposit Extra Info: Time to move this beauty on as it's not getting much use, but I have this niggly feeling I will regret selling this! Lovely condition, recently serviced. Has a new damped base but will supply the original one as well if wanted. From memory, the stylus is an original from Shure and I still have the box it came in. The SME arm is in perfect condition and comes with the original box also. Lid is shiny, has no cracks or scratches and the hinges are perfect. The platter bearing is perfect and there is no platter wobble. You won't find a better one in this model. The Valhalla power supply is in as-new condition, working perfectly with no signs of overheating that your normally see with these boards. I would prefer pick up, but can ship it competently for the cost of shipping and materials. (Approx $50) Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  3. I'm thinking of replacing my VPI TNT with a final turntable to see me into the foreseeable future. The TNT (upgraded series one with integrated motor/flywheel, ball suspension pods and series 5 bearing) has a Graham Phantom II with a SME base and my new table would be something to exploit that tonearm. I've decided to limit my spending to ~$10K, which will hopefully ensure a reasonable upgrade over the TNT. Anyway, the SME15 appeals to me from practicality and build quality standpoints. The reviews seem very positive about SQ too. Many SME owners seem to love their tables, but there is a portion of vinyl enthusiasts who describe SME as detached and un-emotional - CD like, perhaps. I am seeking a neutral platform to hear what's on my records, not a stylised sound - but of course I want it to be enjoyable. Apparently there are a few SME 15's in the wild and I was hoping owners would chip in with their longer term impressions. Still loving it? Actually any SME impressions would be useful - or if you switched from SME and why.

  5. Item: SME 3009 Series II Improved integrated headshell tonearm with free Technics SL120 direct drive turntable and Stanton 500-II cartridge Location: Melbourne Price: $550 for a quick sale Item Condition: Tonearm is in excellent working condition. The turntable has an intermittent fault with speed control, otherwise the combination works fine. Reason for selling: Clearing out unused bits and pieces Payment Method: Cash, Bank Transfer or Paypal Extra Info: Not charging for turntable because of intermittent fault, or cartridge because of unknown stylus life. No time to have fault looked at. The arm is obviously the showpiece anyway! The fact that most of the time the combination works perfectly means that any problem is restricted to the turntable, i.e. electrical and mechanical operation of the arm and cartridge can be verified. Pictures: If I can find the time. You know what the arm looks like!

  9. Item: Technics SL 120 Direct Drive Turntable with SME 3009 tone arm and AT15ss CartridgeLocation: Fitzroy, MelbournePrice: $800Item Condition: excellent - See description belowReason for selling: SurplusPayment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD OnlyPictures: See below Extra Info: PLEASE NOTE - I am selling this for a friend in Fitzroy, Melbourne. I have heard this deck - sounds wonderful. As per below, pick up only. Technics SL 120 Direct Drive Turntable with SME 3009 tone arm and AT15ss Cartridge in beautiful condition. - History The SL 120 was the turntable that came out the same time as the SL 1200. However the SL 120 was sold without a tone arm, allowing the home audiophile their choice of preferred tone arm. - Description Tone arm: SME 3009 Series II - classic english tonearm. Cartridge: Audio Technica AT15S Dual Magnet Phono Cartridge & Stylus - I believe this has the Shibata tip, but I cannot verify this. A bit more specs from our friends at Vinyl Engine: http://www.vinylengine.com/library/technics/sl-120.shtml - Condition Turntable is in amazingly pristine condition for its age. All original parts. During the time I've had the turntable it has not skipped a beat. Like all vintage audio equipment it may benefit from a service at some stage. These Technics TTs are built like tanks and would explain how later models managed to withstand such heavy DJ usage. RCA cables are original and look very weary, however they still run OK. You may wish to upgrade these cables. Whether they will have any impact on the sound is moot, however, if it makes you feel better then do it. Lid is in great condition without any cracks or any scratches. The Audio Technica Cartridge sounds good, but is older so the stylus will have some wear. Note the slightly skewed cantilever. Replacement stylii are available from Jico. - Provenance I am the second owner. The original owner kept the turntable in storage during the brief period in which CDs were in ascendancy and it seemed that vinyl was doomed. Later he sold it to me and I've been giving the turntable relatively light use over the past few years. Winner of this auction can also pick over some crates of vinyl I am also selling if that is of any interest. I will list these eventually but as anyone who has sold anything on eBay or elsewhere knows, photographing and listing items can be rather time consuming. - Pick up Pick up only on this. Located in Fitzroy. Sorry interstate buyers.

  12. Item: Garrard 301 TT with SME 3012 Tonearm, Vinylista Pear wood plinth and SPU G MC Location: Perth Price: 3700 AU Item Condition: very very good Reason for selling: Shindo 301 Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: This started as a project to find out, whether I could create a TT as good as my Shindo. I couldn't but this Garrard is almost as good, meaning very very good when compared with the same Shindo pick up (via Ortofon Adapter) for a fraction of the price. The Garrard is in near perfect condition and recently serviced by the Turntable Doctor. Everything works as it should. The plinth was made by "Vinylista" Martin Brenner in Germany (vinylista.de) of beautiful old and oiled pear wood and works like the Loricraft plinths with a Squash ball suspension. Just the craftsmanship is a lot better. It comes with an exchangeable armboard, should you wish to change the arm. The SME arm was converted to RCA and comes with the normal and the heavy SPU weight and a bronce knife bearing. The SPU is used but in very good condition, alternatively you can have a naked SPU N on a SME headshell or my Kondo IO. You could also have the TT with a new SPU GE. The Kondo or the new SPU will change the price! A Van Den Hul Phono cable, TT motor bearing oil and platter damping rings are included. The original Garrard Rubber mat looks like new. I also have a very good Sun Audio SAT 2000 SUT if you need or, should you take the TT with the Kondo IO an old Kondo AN S6c SUT if the offer is right and you twist my arm properly. Audition encouraged, postage please not. More pictures are available Cheers Christian Pictures:
  13. Item: SME 10 Turntable with 309 tonearm. Price: $5,500 (firm) $4300 (no arm) Location: Victoria Item Condition: Excellent as new 4mths old Reason for Selling: Looking to upgrade up the food chain Payment Method: Cash, Bank Transfer, PAYPAL (Buyer adds 4%) Extra Info: This is the current model and is only 4 months old. It is in immaculate condition with all original boxes. Very happy with this TT and only will sell with firm price. This is an incredible TT and nothing in this price range can come close to the build and quality. High mass belt drive with a seperate (quiet as a mouse) power supply. This TT has opened my ears to the dramatic jump in resolution one gets from the uber-pricey TT and I am toying with going even further to the Dark side.
  14. Item: Transrotor Fat Bob Plus tt including 9" SME-5009 arm & Konstant M1 Reference ps Location: Melbourne Price: Item Condition: Brand new Reason for selling: Regrettable sale due to finances Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Due to a decision to downsize my system, I am offering for sale a terrific Transrotor Fat Bob Plus table, SME-5009 arm & matching Transrotor Konstant M1 power supply as a package, brand new in box. The 'Plus' is an improved version of the Fat Bob S and has a more attractive, rounded design and heavier bass which improves bass response. The TR Fat Bob Plus is designed and built in Germany to exacting standards using the best materials and bullet proof reliability, backed by a company which has been in business for 36 years (so you can be sure parts and support will be available when you need them). The heart of the Fat Bob Plus is it's ingenious Transrotor Magnetic Drive (TMD) bearing & massive 60mm hand-polished composite aluminium platter, itself weighing 12kg! I am including a brand new SME-5009 arm which is the standard arm supplied with the Fat Bob Reference & a matching Konstant M1 power supply. The 5009 is almost identical to the SME-V in design and materials. I asked Dirk at Transrotor about the differences between the 5009 & SME-V and he had this to say - "In the pure sound performance there is not a big difference between the SME V and the 5009, as both have the same materials and cables. The main advantage of the SME V is that it is better adjustable" The Konstant M1 Reference ps is Transrotor's reference power supply & itself is valued at around $1700AUD. The M1 Reference power supply allows you to switch from 33 1/3 to 45 rpm by way of the control knob. No need to switch pulleys etc. The speed is controlled electronically as it should be. The Konstant power supply even has two micro adjustments to allow you to fine tune the speed. The table, arm & ps are brand new in box and include a TR record weight & accessories. I never got to use this terrific table as finances have forced the sale, but hopefully a lucky member will get that pleasure. Sorry photos are stock one as I am not willing to take the table out of the box. Of course I can do so for a serious inquiry pre-purchase if you live in Melbourne. I will ship the items anywhere in Australia in thier original shipping boxes at the buyer's expense, but I would recommend using a good/careful courier firm & avoid the cheap and cheerfuls. Note: Table does not include a cart. Dimensions/weight - Width - 44cm Depth - 38cm Height - 18cm Weight - 28kg (platter 12kg) Link to product page - http://www.transroto...t-bob-plus.html Link to the pdf - http://www.a-bc.nl/m...Bob-Plus_en.pdf Here is a video of the Fat Bob Plus being demonstrated at Absolute High End in Melbourne (refer table on left of screen) - Pictures:
