  1. Hi peeps, Any sugguestions as to where I can get a PrimaLuna preamp serviced in Melbourne? Many thanks.
  2. I have a Chinese-made E-Sound CD-E5 CD player bought from Cattylink Analog Reseach (Hong Kong) a number of years ago. Lately I have noticed a few crackles occasionally. Perhaps it needs a service. Can anyone recommend somewhere that might service CD players in Melbourne, preferably in south-east Melbourne? Thanks. Mike
  3. Heya, I've read a few folks recommend Qualhifi as a good place to get Denon amps serviced, but I'm wondering if there is somewhere in Melbourne closer to Brunswick (north of the city) that might be just as good? The model is a Denon AVC-A1, quite old and with a few quirks that I'm not sure can be fixed or not (i.e. headphone jack randomly engaging and the rear right channel has a fair bit of distortion)...I'm just not sure I want to cart it so far if there's a good repair option north of city! Cheer, nedrum
  4. Hello fellow SNAers, I've got a working Yamaha CA-1010 amplifier that I would like to have it recapped and brought up to spec to ensure that it will last me some 30+ years into the future without any major issues. Could you guys please give me some names of people who would be capable of performing this kind of service? I would prefer if this person was located in South Australia in order to avoid having to post this 20kg amp interestate. I know that there are some great members interestate that are used to do this kind of service on a regular base, however it would be fantastic if we could find this kind of professional here in Adelaide SA too. Please let me know your thoughts and thanks in advance!
  5. How to Clean the HP Android Screen Toothpaste aka Odol : Do not you think that toothpaste can make your teeth so clean. Toothpaste can also make your scratchy smartphonemu screen become a concurrent again. You can use toothpaste to remove scratches on your hp screen, the way is easy: turn off your phone then apply toothpaste (but do not grasp the micro or bleach yes) to the touchscreen display there are scratches using your fingers or toothbrush. Flatten to all parts of the touchscreen display by using your finger or also with a toothbrush slowly. On the scratched part, rub it slightly hard (but not too hard too). Allow for several minutes until the toothpaste dries. If it is dry, you can clean the rest of the toothpaste by using a clean tissue, cotton or cloth. Eucalyptus oil : Make a child really try! You sure memorized tag line advertising this one right? Yup .. eucalyptus oil is one ingredient that can make your android screen can kinclong like buy new again. You can clean the hp screen by using a tissue or microfiber cloth that has been dropleted with eucalyptus oil. Actually, in addition to cleaning the hp screen, eucalyptus oil can also clean keeping the cd / dvd dirty. The same way, dab of eucalyptus oil on a piece of tissue, cotton or clean cloth then rubbed on the surface cd.
  6. Hi All, I'd apprecciate your help please. I'm in Melbourne's inner north and ABC tv reception is causing grief of late. In fact it seems to happen each winter if I recall rightly. I have the signal going to a Beyonwiz pvr and through to a digital tv. Both pvr and tv have frequent major dropouts, freezing, pixelation and distorted audio and video. The pvr is a bit worse than the tv. I've checked cable termination which appears to be okay. Behind the tv and hifi gear it looks like a cable Bunga Bunga party so not sure this is affecting the signal. There appears to be no pattern to it other than it is mostly evenings onwards and in winter. Happens whether hifi is on or not etc. I have a rabbit ears antenna in the shed which I'll try but any advice on how to fix this? Cheers, Legs11

  10. I've never had the cash to splash on truly decent equipment but have always managed to throw (remotely) half decent sound systems together. (I lack technical knowledge but consider myself to be reasonably handy, in many and varied ways...) Part way through last year my brother-in-law moved to Queensland, leaving me with his old amplifier he bought in the late seventies (he was surprised when I first mentioned I'd be interested in it (I'm 37)). He'd had it in storage for a number of years and told me that when he originally purchased it, it was a decent unit so should still do the job. I've been using it ever since and love it dearly. The volume is just a little bit touchy in parts but nothing too outrageous. A couple of weeks ago I decided the time had come to have a poke inside, maybe try and clean it up and extend it's life and so started searching the net for information about it. Well I'll be damned... I am sitting here with a warm glow of appreciation for the old adage that good things come to those who wait, as I have just removed the housing and done a preliminary inspection of my Sansui AU-717 and apart from some dust, it all looks really good. (No corrosion. No blown anything. No damage at all. (From what I can see...)) Having read the reviews on various sites and seen the love and dedication that people put into restoring these grand old dames, I know I've REALLY fallen on my feet with this one. Which brings me to the help bit. I'm not about to tackle any work such as replacing parts etc. (at this stage... ) but am keen to dust out the cobwebs, clean out and service my love, and would really appreciate any advice, hints or tips. (For instance, where do I start and in what order/ stages do I disassemble her?) Cheers, Jon Fun
