  1. Item: Seas L26ROY speker / subwoofer driver, pair Location: VIC 3212 Price: $350,- ono for the pair Item Condition: used but great, good-as-new save some dust Reason for selling: down-sizing Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal +3%, COD Only Extra Info: First owner, bought the pair new some three years ago. These are the low-impedance, low cone mass version of the L26 subwoofer/woofer driver that's suitable for both home theatre and music duties. I really like these as they have decent oomph but are not impossibly large. Don't be fooled by the subwoofer-wise diminutive 10-inch size, a pair of these will shake the slab in our house when Tom Hanks arrives on board of the Polar Express... extremely stiff aluminium cone and subber surround ensure cone break-up modes are both well controlled and north of 1 kHz, so also could be used as the low-frequency drive in a 3-way or 4-way set-up. They're not claustrophobic either, will happily reside in a sealed box of 40 litres internal volume, one of which can be offered as an option for the preferred local pick-up, in a beautiful (!) raw mdf finish; the model ship or the alarm clock are not being offered as part of this deal. I do have the original boxes so could ship these, however they are something like 12 kg a pop when packaged. Could arrange drop-off in Geelong area or western suburbs of Melbourne. A couple project builds where this driver is used: http://www.seas.no/images/stories/excel/coaxial/app_note/KingRO4Y_doc.pdf https://www.loudspeakerbuilding.com/magazine/loudspeakermagazine-2012/mai-2012/_elroy-the-many-sided-seas-sub_8636,en,900969,4006 Specifications provided by Seas, reproduced below for convenience: http://www.seas.no/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=400:d1001-04-l26roy&catid=94&Itemid=501 Nominal impedance: 4 ohms Recommended Frequency Range: 20 - 1000 Hz Short Term Power Handling: 500 W Long Term Power Handling: 250 W Sensitivity (2.83V, 1 m): 88 dB Voice Coil Diameter: 56 mm Voice Coil Height: 38 mm Air Gap Height: 10 mm Linear Coil Travel (p-p): 28 mm Max Col Travel (p-p): 56 mm Flux Density: 1.2 T Magnet weight: 2.34 kg Total weight: 10 kg Coil Former Material: Glass Fibre (that's "No Eddy Currents") Voice Coil Resistance: 3.1 ohms Voice Coil Inductance: 0.53 mH Force Factor: 12 N/A Free Air Resonance: 22 Hz Moving Mass: 107 g Air Load in ICE Baffle: 4.0 g Suspension Compliance: 0.5 mm/N Suspension Mechanical Resistance: 3.7 Ns/mm Effective Piston Area: 363 cm^2 VAS: 87 litres QMS 4.14 QES 0.33 QTS: 0.31 Frequency response plot (from Seas site) Pictures:
  2. Selling my 2 ways Seas Speakers. They incorporate the following high end drivers. http://www.seas.no/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=360:e0022-08s-w22ex001&catid=49:excel-woofers&Itemid=359 http://www.seas.no/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=367:e0011-06-t25cf002&catid=50:excel-tweeters&Itemid=360 Fantastic sounding quality, accuracy, wide sound stage and imaging. These would compare up to $5000 speakers. The cabinets have been professionally made with internal bracing. The crossovers have high end audiograde inductors, resistors and capacitors. Pickup only please.
  3. Further information: This is a sensational pair of Australian made monitors. I could wax lyrical about how great they are, but you can just read pete_mac's listing of a similar pair from a few years ago to understand how highly regarded these are -> If pete_mac says they are good, you know it's true.. Cosmetically, note these items: The cabinets are in VGC overall with just a few minor marks. One rear corner has a small ding. (see pic) If you have the time and patience, these cabinets would look amazing if you removed all the drivers then sand and re-stain them. The cloth grilles are a bit warped. This happened because when I bought them the covers were quite duty so I immersed them in water to wash them. I thought the frames were resin, but it turns out they are a fibrous cardboard/foam material and they absorbed the water. The warping is not noticeable from front on. There s a small hole in the fabric of one cover. Original heavy metal stands included, as pictured. Audition may be possible (with COVID-19 precautions) in near future if Melbourne metro COVD-19 restrictions are eased. Questions welcome. Pickup only unless you wish to arrange shipping through pack n send. (I don't have shipping materials for these). 5. After finally settling into Life in Perth and organising the Garage, I decided to put good use of the spare drivers and crossover parts to build a new pair of speakers. Taking some old speakers my father gave me i stripped them out to utilise the cabinets and modify them. The old speakers were bought from Harvey Norman 25 years ago and use Foster tweeters, midrange and woofers. The venerable Peterson speakers (joking) I decided to scrap those and design a new speaker using a Seas Ca21rex woofer, a vifa p17 mid and a Dx25 tweeter. I am going to make this a sealed design. As I get the Cabinets fixed and Modified I will then decide and calculate the crossover to suit. I know this is not exactly the correct way to start but once i get the Seas ca21 volume calculated i will then add a partition to seperate the P17 and tweeter in there own section. I will post some pics after todays session. I will keep this a running discussion as I progress.
  6. Hi guys have in my hands two peerless 10" 1727 woofers, and two Seas MCA 15 RCY mids, looking to make a three way what tweeter would you recommend? I have found that the SEAS 27tffc is good match but seldom nothing in OZ Cheerz Dwayno
  7. Okay guys as pictured I have a pair of Seas 60 series Interdyn speakers from Encel stereo three way with twin 10's, these were my dads still working perfectly (he changed the tweeters) they have the same driver as the famous Dynaco A50, A25 10" seas model # H336 the other is believed to be Interdyn p33 using the same 10" in a three way, both shared the same tweeter originally. the question do I try and reinstate them as original and perhaps retain them as an investment or keep the 10's and build a more suitable enclosure utilising modern seas or other parts to keep them current. Bottom line are they worth anything and are they decent enough to use in a new project? Thanks for your thoughts and information you may have regarding these models and history. Dwayne. p.s cabinets are pretty shabby

  9. Item: SEAS CNO-25, 2½-way floorstander AND Naquadria AmpLocation: Located Port Macquarie can deliver to Newcastle or Sydeny depending on timing. Price: This is hard because of DIY. Dont be afraid to message me. $1500 for Speakers, $1100 for ampItem Condition: DIY finish. there is a dent in one of the tweeter, small and does not affect the sound. Can SMS more pics if interested in speakers. Anything wrong is cosmetic only they sound like a DIY that Troels has designed when Cost is No Object (aka CNO). Paired with a Naquadria Amp. Will add details later. Reason for selling: Like my other post im moving to London so no reason to keep these in storage. As DIY is hard to sell they may end up in storage though. Payment Method: Pickup - CashExtra Info: http://www.troelsgravesen.dk/CNO-2.5.htm Made these a few years back and have been my babies throughout that time. Spent about 3k from memory just on the drivers and electrics. Plus probably an extra $500 on MDF, paint, veneer etc.Pictures: More pics can be sent if you are interested. Took hundreds of pics of all my gear for the move so didnt take extra time with them.
  10. Hey all! I have just borrowed a set of VAF I-91 speakers (I am assuming mk2 models as they have the sculpted smaller front baffle arrangement though no plastic plugs for the grills - *edit* I assumed wrongly!) from a friend who is the original purchaser with a view to buying them from him (he has some other hi-fi projects happening and not a lot of spare time ATM) but I've noticed, with some lessening of my excitement, that the voice coil former rubs on the pole-piece of one the the Seas coaxial drivers that are used in them and makes a slight buzzing sound like a poorly fretted string on a guitar at times. It appears to be a manufacturing issue (initial cone misalignment) that has either become apparent with sagging (I don't think that's so likely as it's only a 7" driver but those of us that have seen a few years will have seen this with some large coaxials and high efficiency/PA drivers) or loosening of the surround and spider over time (more likely IMO). When compared to the other driver it's apparent that the gap is very uneven with a wider gap on one side of the pole piece to the other - and it's not that generous on these drivers to begin with. Now I've had a lot of speakers and sometimes this misalignment happens without issue - notably I've recently seen some brand new Usher S-520 stand-mounts with pretty poor woofer VC centering that sounded just fine..and I absolutely realise that properly centered voice coils can be toasted by abuse and swell and rub but these lived their listening lives attached to an Almarra EL84 that was converted to triode operation.. so you have a very gentle 3 watts or so being piped to them and no DC happening at all - and I can plainly see 1. the misalignment, 2. the rubbing is happening on the inside of the former and not the outside, and 3. there's a healthy copper color within (by torchlight) and no toasty smell. So, given all this I have some questions! 1. Since I can't readily see where to get this particular Seas driver currently (only the clear coned variant which I expect isn't the same) do you think VAF is likely to have replacement units that they would fit under warranty in these kinds of circumstances? 2. Is the ten year warranty on the I-91s dependent upon them being presented by the original owner? He says they're not ten years old and I'm quite happy to faf around in lieu of him doing so getting them repaired due to the nice price he's offering to me to move them on. He mentioned having an invoice in his files somewhere but suggested I just quote the serial numbers and see how I go to begin with so I'll try that to begin with and see how I go. They are numbered 1020 and 1022. (Hmm, upon further inspection they seem to be version "1.1"). 3. Has anyone else seen this kind of issue with these drivers? I'm a little surprised to see it but also not flabbergasted - it is a pretty small VC gap to begin with so there is always a chance I'd say - I'd say it just scraped through QC without being noisy and only manifest as the driver aged and the surround/spider became more compliant. I've been looking forward to hearing these for a long time now, and they look like very well made enclosures, so I'm hoping the story will have a happy ending! I'll post some pics in the next day or two to illustrate. All the best! 8)
  11. Hi guys I have two mint condition Seas 25 F-EWX vintage 10" drivers as below. http://seas.no/images/stories/vintage/pdfdataheet/h108_25f-ewx.pdf was hoping to getting put something together similar to the old A25, using the SB acoustics tweeter SB29RDNC-c0004 Was hoping to cross this over @ 1500hz basic 12db slope on tweet may use baffle step compensation once I design the box. Basic question will this tweeter be suitable for this application crossing so low? don't wanna spend mega bucks realise this could be hit and miss given its a 10" two way but wanna have a bit of fun making a classic two way on stands perhaps small sealed enclosure. Any thoughts to reasonable tweeter for 1500 crossover if above no good cheerz. Thanks in advance Cheerz Dwayne
