  1. Hi guys. Another help me choose thread. I am currently building my house and planning to have a 5.2.2 setup in my theatre room. Room measurements are 4240mm X 3080mm, ground floor of a 2 storey home in Sydney North West. My current speakers are all Richter MK4 speakers. Have not decided on a AV Receiver yet as the build still have a few months to go but leaning towards a Sony STR-DN1080. Usage would be 80% movies and 20% music. I am looking to get a pair of ceiling speakers for atmos use. My budget is around $500 but can be stretched if necessary. Any suggestions on ceiling speakers that I should look into, which would be a match for my current setup? Reading through some other forums, I am considering the below, but this is only based on my limited research. 1. https://www.selby.com.au/pair-of-8in-angled-glass-fibre-ceiling-speakers-xd8205b-x2.html 2. https://www.customht.com.au/products/ns-ic800?variant=14009024544820&currency=AUD&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=google+shopping&gclid=CjwKCAiAj-_xBRBjEiwAmRbqYqUTjJD_qtRPY4ljtjTx-S0A6j8l8A5j_XWP0sUXE43JjFZ6SquQbxoC5rYQAvD_BwE Appreciate any help. Thank you.

  8. Hi! First time posting here! I’m looking for purchasing advice in relation to the Richter Mentor V speakers. I have a Pro-ject Debut Carbon Esprit and a Marantz 2252b and I’m looking at the Mentors to replace Klipsch R15M speakers that I got to start my system off. There’s a bit of information/reviews on the smaller Merlin’s online, but not too much info on the Mentors. Does anyone have any opinions or sage wisdom in relation to the Mentors and how they would go with my setup? Cheers
  9. Well it's been a while since I last logged in, a lot has changed since I began the refurbishment on my Orpheus cs28 loudspeakers. I've moved into a house all by myself, which has allowed me the freedom to put together a new system that isn't restricted by space. I'm still currently spending a lot of money making this place a home so the budget was pretty tight, as such I have had to turn my attention to the second hand market, and I think I have done well. When I first moved in I was using an old 6 Channel Kenwood amplifier with no remote, my still unfinished Orpheus cs28 speakers, a Logitech subwoofer that I hacked into a makeshift passive subwoofer that was driven by the dedicated subwoofer amp section on the Kenwood, and simply using my laptop as the audiovisual source, ah the things you have to live with when you're broke and forced into living out of a 3x3m room. I found a guy on gumtree selling a pair of Orpheus Nexus II loudspeakers, a Richter unicorn center speaker, and a Marantz SR5400 amplifier, along with an old 42" plasma. The add stated the speakers and tv worked fine but the amplifier was busted, $250 for the lot, after inspection I discoverd the amplifier to be working fine but both Orpheus had blown tweeters, the tv was displaying green and red vertical lines, I talked him down to $190 for all the speakers and amplifier. $50 and 4 weeks later I had the Orpheus repaired and they sound perfect. A friend of mine had moved in with friends and wanted to offload his 50" LG plasma, picked it up for $100. Anyway, this is how it stayed for a few months, last month I finally had a little more expendable cash and decided to go shopping. Gumtree served up a DTX 15" subwoofer, it seems pretty competent so far. I'm normally not a fan of cash converters, but I ended up stopping for a look at a franchise in a dodgier part of town and found a gold nugget. A Belkin 13 port power console, $165. The most recent piece of the puzzle, the marantz sr5400 was only rated for a max 6ohm load, after driving the 4ohm nexus II pretty hard for a while the front left channel eventually started showing signs of a failing transistor driver, so I got onto gumtree and found myself a mint Marantz SR5007, $430. So here's how it sits now. My next upgrade will be a better tv, just waiting for my tax return to be sorted and my rego to be paid. Not bad for less than $1000.
  10. Item: Richter Jaguar speakers Location: Castle Hill, Sydney Price: $400 Item Condition: Excellent, as new Reason for selling: Being replaced with different colour speaker Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, COD Only Extra Info: Anyone who knows their audio stuff will be very familiar with the legendary Richter Wizards. Well these are their bigger brother. These speakers are extremely easy to listen to and have served me very well. I have had them since new and enjoyed every minute of listening to them. I looked after them meticulously, but they no longer match the décor and reluctantly have to be sold. They still look and sound as good as the day I bought them and there is barely a mark on them. I am very easy on my gear and have never driven these speakers hard. Whether it is your favourite music or watching the latest blockbuster, these speakers will not disappoint. Happy for you to bring your favourite tracks over for a demo. Here is what Audiotrends had to say about them: "Richter Jaguar is the perfect choice in a speaker if you want to hear it loud and really rock the house! With two 200mm bass drivers, metal dome tweeter and in a bass reflex or ported enclosure, Jaguar delivers big, rich bass and are not shy on power. Cabinet quality, drivers, crossovers and internal wiring are all there and at a price that has the imported brands wondering. Jaguar will really bring your favourite music or movie soundtrack to life and is for people who want to feel their music as well as listen to it. Like previous success stories from Richter, we believe Jaguar will find its way into a lot of homes around the world. Richter Jaguar - an absolutely fantastic speaker, but not for the feint hearted." - Audio Trends Specs: Recommended Amplifier Power: 20 - 150 Watts Frequency Response: 40 Hz - 20 kHz Impedance: 4 Ohms Sensitivity: 91 dB Dimensions: H 900 mm x W 245 mm x D 295 mm Weight: 19 kg each Mid/Woofer: 2 x 200mm Tweeter: 1 x 25mm dome Crossover: 2-way Enclosure: Single vent reflex Pictures:

  12. Item: Richter Sovereign Emperor Speakers Location: Inner West SYD Price: $450 $350 neg Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: Upgrade Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: A very good set of Australian made floorstanders available now! I've really enjoyed these speakers for the time I've owned them. They have a lovely bottom end and smooth and fast tight bass due to their design. They're 4ohm, but quite efficient so don't need a heap of power. I used to drive them with a Marantnz PM6004 which was a nice combo to my ears. They're bi-wirable/bi-ampable (jumpers are included, but not shown in photos) and I found they sounded best when set up this way. The cabinets and drivers are in excellent condition with only a small scuff on one corner as shown in the picture Also included: Floor spikes Brand new set of drivers (2 x tweeters and 4 x mid/bass units) Grilles. These are in excellent condition too, but have weak magnets so are difficult to get to remain in place I'm negotiable on price but can't ship due to the size and weight, so local pick up only please. 15. Hi, Newbie here that would appreciate any feedback. I have a Onkyo TX-DS575x AV receiver connected to a set of Richter Wizards MK1 as front speakers in a 7m x 6m cinema room lined with heavy drapes. My other speakers are CAVs including a 100w subbie. Recently I've found that even pumping up the Onkyo to max volume, its still not loud enough for me in some cases (no I'm not partially deaf - yet). I mainly listen to music DVDs / CDs / TV shows in surround sound rather than thunderous movies. Now even though the Onkyo is quoted as 100watts RMS, I'm wondering: - do I need to upgrade my AV amp to a higher power? - do I need to change my brand of amp to better suit the Wizards? - do I need to upgrade my front speakers? Thanks heaps for any advise...
