  2. I’m keen to get some views on what would be a worthwhile upgrade from an AT LP120 turntable with an upgraded Hyper Elliptical stylus. I’m keen on staying with MM cartridges and looking to spend up to $2k. Amp and speakers are high quality but I am unsure if the extra spend would make a demonstrable difference. Keen on some views and suggestions on TT’s that would be worth considering.

  4. Hey, I bought a Rega planner 1 a few months back and have been enjoying it immensely. Just recently I’ve noticed it had a considerable amount of vertical wobble in the platter. I’m talking five or six mm. Moved the platter on the sub at five degree intervals and it made very little difference. Is this play deemed an acceptable amount of tolerance. To my mind I’d think not. I know the deck is a basic starter unit but I thought I’d be getting decent quality buying a recognized brand name. Any thoughts on the issue ? What would be the course of action to follow ?

  7. I have a Rega Planar 25 turntable that I bought second hard years ago from someone who is a bit of an audiophile. It doesn't get a lot of use, but eventually the day will come that I need a new stylus. I suspect that day is fairly close. I have absolutely no idea about this stuff, and what it's got is hardly plug-and-play. There's not even any sort of make/model code on it as far as I can see. Looks like it would have to be very manually removed and reinstalled, and has some very small fiddly looking copper(?) connectors. Don't know how many pics I can attach. Going to try all six I took earlier today to show it from as many angles as I can. I'm in Wellington New Zealand. Where would I go for a new stylus? How would I describe what one (or type of one) I need? What sort of price am I looking at? Then there's the question of actually trying to remove the current one and install the new one. Looks like I'd have to remove the arm as there's not enough room to work with to unscrew whats there and screw in a new one. I can't see any other way to do it. So, as I said and as you can tell, I've got absolutely no idea about this stuff. Seems to me that I don't have a terribly easy turntable when it comes to this. Thanks in advance for whatever useful info anyone can provide. Glenn

  19. Hi,I recently discovered that the stylus on my Rega Exact cartridge is bent. So rather than replace the cartridge with another Rega Exact (even though I receive a 20% discount off the price of a new cartridge), I have decided to upgrade my cartridge and would appreciate any suggestions. There are not a large number of hi-fi stores in my area, so demos are out of the question.I am running a Rega RP6 with an RB303 tonearm (stock standard with the RP6), Rega Elicit R amp and Monitor Audio Silver speakers. With the Elicit R, I am limited to MM cartridges; however, I believe that I can run a high output MC cartridge through the MM input. My music tastes are varied, with vinyls ranging from Otis Redding, to Simon and Garfunkel, Cold Chisel, Fireigber, Van Morrison, Eagles, Bee Gees, Steve Nicks, Fleetwood Mac etc.Cartridges I have been considering are:- Ortofon 2M Black (although some people state these are overrated)- Nagaoka MP-500 (apparently selling for more than they are worth)- Goldring 2500- Dynavector 20X2H (high level output MC, which I believe will work on the MM input of the amp)- Grado Refefence Platinum 2I am not tied to any of the above cartridges, so any feedback or recommendations are most welcome. If you could also include your reasoning for certain recommendations that would be appreciated. Thanks,Gareth
  20. Item: Rega Ania MC cartridge Location: Point Cook VIC Price: $650 Item Condition: Near New Reason for selling: Trying something else. Moving to Ortofon MC. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: purchase in Feb this year. I would estimate that I've played about 100ish records since I've purchased so most likely around 80 hours give or take. Mostly played new records only. This is my first cart into MC and found it a huge jump from MM. It was used on my Rega P7 turntable with the RB700 tonearm which sounded very detailed. The cart is pristine and barely broken in. Anyone thinking of making the jump to MC, this is where to start. Comes with the original packaging and can provide a copy of the receipt for warranty piece of mind. Cart has been place back in its original packaging. Can be sent at buyers expense.
  21. Item: Rega Dac Location: Melbourne, Inner Northern Suburbs Price: $450 Item Condition: Mint Condition including original box, manual and clover leaf power cable Reason for selling: My Sons Downsizing his system Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Selling on behalf of my Son. He purchased it new from CAV around 2012. Fantastic English made Dac that utilises 1 Wolfson Dac per channel. This is one of the most musical sounding digital products I've ever heard. Photos:
  22. Item: Rega Saturn-R CD Player/DAC Location: Melbourne Price: $1950 Firm. RRP$3699. Donation to SNA on sale Item Condition: Excellent with remote, manual and original carton for safe postage at buyer's expense if necessary Reason for selling: Too many players. Need to sell this or Leema Acoustics Antila Payment Method: Cash, Bank Transfer or Paypal Extra Info: Current model which has become an industry standard in its price range, encapsulating all that Rega has learnt while producing players and DACs renowned for their musicality. This model builds on the reputation of the earlier Saturn (which I also own and would be happy to sell) and exceeds it for information retrieval, timing and build quality. This is partly due to power supply advances and can be felt by picking up the machine. The Saturn-R also doubles as an exceptional stand-alone DAC with a comprehensive set of digital inputs and alternative filter settings, all remotely controllable. It can be used as the heart of an audio system with separate digital sources and as a high spec CD drive feeding alternative DACs or digital amps via its array of digital outputs. On top of its sound quality, this makes it a bargain, even at the new price. Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.

Reason for selling: upgrade Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Rega RP1 in excellent stock condition. Barely used, only selling to fund an upgrade. Please note; some people have issues connecting regas to their amps/phono stages due to their unique earthing/grounding topology, please do your research or come and demo with your own amp if unsure. Thanks! Tom. also listed on FleaBay. Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  24. Hello to all you wonderful people in Stereo Net land. Total newbie here and this is y first post so please be gentle. I have recently purchased a Rega P25 and it came fitted with an Ortofon 2M Red, but also came with a Rega Exact. Based purely on the price bracket of the two cartridges I would have thought that the 2M red would be taking a step or two backwards from the Exact. I haven't had any time to play around and start changing as yet but I'm sure that there are people here that will be able to impart knowledge and wisdom on this subject. I had a bit of a search to see if there was any existing topics but they all seem to relate to cartridges in the upper range. Your thoughts would be appreciated.
