  4. Hi,I recently discovered that the stylus on my Rega Exact cartridge is bent. So rather than replace the cartridge with another Rega Exact (even though I receive a 20% discount off the price of a new cartridge), I have decided to upgrade my cartridge and would appreciate any suggestions. There are not a large number of hi-fi stores in my area, so demos are out of the question.I am running a Rega RP6 with an RB303 tonearm (stock standard with the RP6), Rega Elicit R amp and Monitor Audio Silver speakers. With the Elicit R, I am limited to MM cartridges; however, I believe that I can run a high output MC cartridge through the MM input. My music tastes are varied, with vinyls ranging from Otis Redding, to Simon and Garfunkel, Cold Chisel, Fireigber, Van Morrison, Eagles, Bee Gees, Steve Nicks, Fleetwood Mac etc.Cartridges I have been considering are:- Ortofon 2M Black (although some people state these are overrated)- Nagaoka MP-500 (apparently selling for more than they are worth)- Goldring 2500- Dynavector 20X2H (high level output MC, which I believe will work on the MM input of the amp)- Grado Refefence Platinum 2I am not tied to any of the above cartridges, so any feedback or recommendations are most welcome. If you could also include your reasoning for certain recommendations that would be appreciated. Thanks,Gareth

  7. Item: NEW Rega Elicit - R Amplifier Location: Melbourne Price: AMP SOLD ELSEWHERE Item Condition: Brand new, unopened box, delivered yesterday Reason for selling: Buying a Naim all in one. This is a new replacement item. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: In December 2018 I bought a Rega Elicit-R for my use in my living area. I soon realised that I would be better served having an all in one unit that included a DAC and Streamer. I was able to buy the initial Rega Elicit - R as an open box special and got a great price. The amp looked new and worked perfectly. However, after advertising it here on Stereonet I was packing it up and found the box contained a manual - that indicated it had been sold before!! The local retailer has been terrific with support and has delivered me a brand new unopened replacement Elicit -R yesterday. I am going to pass this new item on at the price the first amp cost me. (I would appreciate it if it was bought for personal use not flipping). I would much prefer local pick up in Melbourne. Nice performance summary by CAV; Rating at a very understated 105W RMS into 8 ohms, Rega's in-house designed power amp stage is set to pull the carpet out from under your speakers and make them do things you never thought possible. This has two Sanken Darlington Bipolar Transistors in the output stage which are rated at 150 watts each ... if this were a Japanese amplifier it would be rated at 300RMS as that is what these are capable of. Our local Audio Designer Gary Cawsey points out that these are the best output devices in the world ... none of those cheap Hitachis or Toshibas that proliferate elsewhere. With the Elicit-R playing Keith Jarrett this amplifier immediately sounds far more expensive than it is. There is that solid spatial portrayal and sense of the presence of the instruments that we are accustomed to with amplifiers with an extra decimal place. Still a definable Brio-R character though with a fullness and solidity that takes the edge away, but matured without the rough parts that tell us that a Brio R is still less than two thousand dollars. The Elicit-R is a very grown up amplifier. Good balanced review in plain language, http://www.audiophilia.com/reviews/2016/9/24/j027nrfz2howy3zvaklg5heqh9io1l Pictures:

  10. Item: Rega Rx1 Bookshelf Speakers - Walnut Location: Bentleigh Victoria Price: $1300AUD Item Condition: As-New Reason for selling: Baby on way.. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash preferred. Other means considered. Extra Info: These are brand new not used. I bought and shipped them from the UK when we relocated to Melb in September 2018. I wanted a second set of speakers for maybe a sitting room stereo. Now I need to get rid of them to free up some space and cash. I will post some actual pictures of them, but for now i have just added the ones from the website. Beautiful UK made speakers. As with all rega gear they are top quality. Shame to let them go. They come with these cool snap on snap off magentic covers, as can be seen in the photo with the black ash finish. I have seen these advertised new at carltonaudiovisual for $1799. So I reckon this is a pretty good deal at $1300. If you have any questions or want to inspect, please sing out. https://www.carltonaudiovisual.com.au/rega-rx1-bookshelf-speakers.html http://www.rega.co.uk/rx1-loudspeakers.html The RX-ONE’s can be used on stands, a sturdy shelf or mounted directly on the wall via the RX-ONE wall bracket (sold separately). Imaging and bass response can be tuned by adjusting the distance of the speaker from the rear and side walls. As with all loudspeakers, this will depend on the size of room, flooring and furnishings therefore some simple experiments trying different distances will help optimise the performance to your surroundings. 12. Item: OL Alliance- awesome tonearm and works nicely as an upgrade to many mid level TTs that suffer from cheap budget arms Location: Sydney Price: $250 firm plus postage, rrp is approx $500. Item Condition: very good, comes with all packaging and box for travel, the manual and mounting kit. (No cart and no turntable as in picture.) Reason for selling: i switched out to an arm that is made by my tt manufacturer to get the right geometry, as TT arm board is non Rega and should be 5mm shorter. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, eft Extra Info: I can only concur with the reviews, it’s an upgrade arm for many decks with Rega geometry, that punches well above its weight. I have been v happy with it on a $4k Wilson Benesch turntable but I am unsure how the lessor 5mm sounds, which is the difference of Rega and WB specs. Google the OL arm , but I can’t find any negative reports and it bests the equivalent Rega arms. Here is some review info https://www.originlive.com/hi-fi/tonearm/budget-tonearm-alliance/ Pictures:
  13. Hi All, Wanted to share an experience I recently went through with my Rega Elicit-R integrated amp. Official site: http://www.rega.co.uk/elicit-r.html I've had my Elict-R for a couple of years, purchased brand new locally, and always really really enjoy the amp. Sounds fantastic, and great synergy with my other Rega gear. I previously had the Elex-R, and the Brio-R. I find that the Elicit was a satisfying upgrade, well worth moving up from the other models. My listening habits are usually having a good sit down listen for an hour or two on a Friday night or weekend (with a drink or two), usually spinning my favourite records (using an external MC phono). Will also sometimes come home of a weeknight and power-up and have a listen to digital sources at low/moderate volumes while I cook and do the daily evening routine. Anyways, I recently splurged and purchased a new/different integrated amp. After enjoying the new purchase for a little while, decided I no longer needed the ol' Elicit-R So I put the Elicit-R up for sale here on Stereonet classifieds. It was soon sold here on Stereonet to a fellow locally in Brisbane QLD. Very soon after sale, the buyer complained to me that the amp was apparently switching itself off after a couple hours of listening. I had experienced something like this myself in the past. Sometimes the Elicit would switch itself into 'protection' mode when it would get too hot. Yet this happened only very rarely to me, only on a couple of occasions, on very hot days and extended listening at high volumes. I'm not sure why this issue wasn't more apparent to me? Maybe due to my usual listening habits, of only listening/using in short bursts? The buyer mentioned that he usually runs his hifi for extended periods (5hrs+). He was running some very neat floorstanding KEFs (possibly 4ohms). I did some searching online, and found some similar reports/issues (only with the Elicit-R, not Elex-R, or Brio), all the reported issues of overheating/switching into protection mode were fixed by simply returning the Elicit-R to Rega for warranty repair. Anyways, so I quickly refunded the buyer and collected the amp and sent it off for warranty repair (Rega has 3yr warranty in Australia). A couple of weeks later I have it back, and have run it for some long extended listening over the weekend just gone (was over 30' all weekend here in QLD too) and is now running without interruption. Although the top left of the case still does get very warm, it doesn't get hot enough to switch into protection mode. The warranty repair report notes: " Dismantled & adjusted bias both channels. Reassembled & tested. " I don't have much understanding of amp Bias adjustment, yet assume it was up too high/hot from initial build? Thankfully the protection circuit is there and no damage done. FYI: The Elex and Brio have no protection circuit/mode. I know the Rega Elicit-Rs aren't very common here in Australia, yet wanted share, and hear if anyone else has had the same or similar issues with their Elicit-R Also, my Elicit-R will likely be available for sale again soon
  14. Item: Rega RP10 Location: Williamstown Price: $4500 Item Condition: Perfect! Reason for selling: Upgrading... yes I know Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Ok ok ok, I know I don't need to write or say anything here. It's an RP10 for goodness sake. One of the long term institutions of the hi-fi industry, and part of many peoples first steps into their musical loungeroom journeys, Rega is well know to deliver some of the simplest, most reliable and grin inducing turntables in the world. This turntable is only a couple of months old. It is in perfect condition. Seriously. Comes with all of the items a new turntable has in the box, except the cartridge. So if you’re looking to step up your turntable, you’d be hard pressed to do better anywhere near the price. Every aspect of vinyl reply has been addressed on this turntable - Rega has pulled out all the stops. The platter is made from compressed ceramic-oxide powder and diamond-cut for accuracy of shape, weight, and surface flatness. The arm is handmade and is the highest form of art and technology in an arm that Rega can deliver. The power supply is hand tuned to this turntable in the factory. Everything is designed to let the music free from those grooves. Full retail is $6,799 so your saving $2300 straight off the bat. See: https://www.carltonaudiovisual.com.au/rega-rp10.html I’ll refer to the TAS review: http://www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/rega-rp10-turntable-and-apheta-moving-coil-cartridge/ TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS: • Handmade RB2000 tonearm, precision engineered bearing and aluminium sub platter • Ceramic oxide diamond cut flywheel platter • Fully adjustable RP10 dedicated power supply tuned to its own motor • Rega’s pioneering skeletal plinth design • Aluminium skin phenolic bracing I've included some Rega photos, which are much better than my poor attempts of shooting the turntable. 15. Item: Rega RB700 tonearm, brand new Incognito wiring, Michell tecno counterweight and VTA adj kit. Location: Randwick NSW Price: $700. $600 plus shipping, or less again without the Michell mods (let me know if interested, but better with them) Item Condition: good, one minor blemish on top of tube (see photo), otherwise great arm with the extras lifting it’s performance even higher Reason for selling: not used, I had a project dream but never got started Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Bank dep Extra Info: upgraded incognito wiring is the copper version (less bright sounding, my preference), RB700 is the three point mount. Comes with original counterweight as well. Pictures:
  16. Item: Rega Elcit-R Integrated stereo amplifier Location: Brisbane QLD Price: $old Item Condition: Used / Great Reason for selling: Trying something different Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal (+3%), Bank Transfer Extra Info: Most thought the day would never come, yet here I am, selling my beloved Rega Elicit-R. I had the Brio, then the Elex-R, then finally, The Elicit-R. Most know I'm a 'Rega Guy' and this is the core of everything in my system, so this is risky move for me, yet I think the time is right. 1 owner (me), purchased from Living Sound & Vision in Fortitude Valley in Dec 2016 Tech Specs: 105 Watts per channel into 8 127 Watts per channel into 6 162 Watts per channel into 4 Input sensitivity for 105 Watts into 8 Line inputs (input 1 switch set to line) 1-5 and record - 196mV load 10K Phono (input 1 switch set to phono) - 2mV Load 47K in parallel with 220pF Direct input - 760mV Load 50K Power amplifier gain - 31.6dB Record output - 196mV for rated inputs Pre-amplifier output - 760mV for rated inputs Dimensions: W 432mm x D 325mm x H 82mm Weight - 13kg Comes with the fancy Rega remote and the standard kettle cord and original packaging I'll give preference to local buyer/pick-up, but but could post at buyers cost (it's heavier than it looks!) 17. Item: Rega Brio-R Location: Sydney Price: $525 Item Condition: Very Good Reason for selling: Upgraded to Moon 240i Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal Extra Info: Comes with a remote and original box and after-market power cord (I don't have the original power cord). Pictures:
  18. Item: Rega P3-24 Ortofon 2M Bronze, with Groovetracer sub-platter and platter upgrades and white belt Location: Perth Price: $1400 Item Condition: Very good. 8/10. Some very minor blemishes Reason for selling: Upgraded Payment Method: Cash, Paypal, Bank transfer Extra Info: Here it is. The Lime green Rega P3-24 turntable with all the upgrades you'll need. It has the Groovertracer reference sub-platter, Delrin platter and Rega white belt upgrades, with an Ortofon 2M Bronze cartridge. It has an external power supply with 33/45 electronic speed selection. Bias plays a part, of course, but this review on the sub-platter pretty much sums it up: The improvements are immediately noticeable and equivalent to moving up to the next price class, and perhaps beyond. The soundstage snaps into focus with greater clarity. The noise floor drops substantially, along with surface noise, which is pushed deep into the background as it is on more expensive tables. And on the Delrin platter: The sonic benefits include well balanced frequency response with no loss in dynamics. Upper frequencies are better defined which in turn allows more inner detail to shine through. The improved presentation of instruments within the soundstage provides better imaging. The sub-platter and platter alone are worth about $850, and the cartridge is about $400 to replace. I have loved this rig. It has served me well, but the call to upgrade cannot go unheeded, so it's time for a new home. I have all the original packaging and can ship anywhere at buyers expense. Pictures:
  19. Item: Rega Apheta 1 cartridge Location: Port Macquarie NSW Price: $500 plus freight cost if required Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: Surplus Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal Extra Info: I would estimate about 300 hours of use, I mainly listened to digital music while I had this cartridge in use. Don't have the original packaging, but I have a good quality cartridge case that will securely protect the cart during postage (if required). Original individual cartridge specification sheet included, refer to photo. I apologise for the average quality iPhone photos, it is the best I could do. Pictures:
  20. Item: Rega Planar 3 (latest model) + Neo PSU + New Rega White Belt + Nagaoka MP-150 Location: Dulwich Hill, Sydney Price: $920 FIRM Item Condition: Excellent, Near New, 4 months old. Reason for selling: Trying something different. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, Bank Deposit Extra Info: I love Rega turntables, I've owned 4 of them. But the time has come to try something different. All items in excellent condition and come with their original boxes. Turntable and cartridge are calibrated and set up optimally using the Baerwald alignment protractor. The Rega has an addition of a ground lead (see photos). Routing the tonearm's ground through a dedicated wire instead of through the delicate signal RCAs gives the turntable a lift in finer details, quieter background and more solid soundstage. This ground wire connects to the amplifier's, or phono pre's, ground lug just like most turntables do. This was installed by myself with care and know-how and have done so with my past Rega turntables. The new Rega Neo PSU and Brand New Rega White Belt is also included. The cartridge, Nagaoka MP-150, has about 90hrs on it. Fantastic sounding cartridge, one of my favourites. The RRP of this package was $1950 Demo most welcome. Pick up preferred! Pictures:
  21. Item: Rega Exact cartridge plus Rega Fono Mini A2D phono preamp Location: ACT Price: 250 posted Item Condition: Phono cartridge 9/10, Pre-amp 8/10 (two small marks) Reason for selling: NLR Payment Method: Pickup or post - Cash, Paypal (buyer pays fee or as friend and family) Extra Info: I already have another cartridge I use with my Schiit Mani that sounds much the same but suits my record player better as this cartrdige probably needs to be used with a shim on my tone arm. I know people dislike the fact that people say cartridges have been used for less then X hours so I will put this differently. I simply don’t enjoy vinyl and prefer digital which is much easier in every sense and as such rarely touch the 200 odd vinls I own. I would have struggled to play 75, let alone 100 LPs. This is apparent in the photos I have taken of the needle. This cartridge sounds great with the phono, hence the sale combination. This represents a huge saving on new and is only cheap because the resale on both items isn’t great and I need to sell excess gear before I can buy anything else. I can split the items but it will more expensive to buy both separately. Pictures:
  22. Item: Rega Fono Mini A2D phono preamp Location: ACT Price: 100 posted Item Condition: 8/10 (two small marks) Reason for selling: NLR Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Bought this off another SNA member and used it for around 12 months until I got my Schiit Mani. This only does MM cartridges so is not required as I would like the option to try a MC cartridge without a Step Up Transformer (SUT). It does have a nice warm sound that suited my old Ortofon 2M Red well; I imagine the other 2M catridges would also be served well by this phono. I've tried battery phonos and the mani and non were better, just different. You can record with these phonos to PC with the included USB out. I've never used it so can't comment on how well it works. They retails for $170 so at $120 delivered, I think this is competitive. Pictures:
  23. Item: Rega DAC (with an iFi Nano which can be used as a USB to S/PDIF converter) Location: Bunyip VIC, Southeast Melbourne Price: SOLD. including an iFi nano to use as a USB to S/PDIF converter Item Condition: Used, excellent Reason for selling: No longer required Payment Method: Cash; Paypal (add 3%); Bank Transfer Extra Info: I got this as an upgrade from my Musical Fidelity V-DAC II earlier this year, and got the iFi nano to use as a USB to S/PDIF converter. Instead of getting the new Rega DAC-R, which has up to 192 kHz via USB, I figured this would be a far cheaper way to get all the benefits of hi res through USB without shelling out $1200. Now with this combo, you can have all the benefits of the hi res through the Rega DAC without paying three times the price. The DAC is in excellent condition. See the photos I took in natural outdoor light, with the intention of showing the unit as it appears. What you see in the photo is how it looks. There are very minimal cosmetic markings, if any, on the DAC. The iFi is a bit more cosmetically challenged, and I have documented this in the photos. The good thing is that while it works perfectly, it is very small, runs on USB power only, and can be easily hidden out of sight if that's what you want to do. It can also handle 192 kHz and DSD in its own right if you want that. But my intention was to use it simply as the USB converter, as the Rega DAC only came out with 48 kHz through the USB for some reason. So if you're playing files from your computer, ruun the USB into the iFi nano DAC, then the co-ax digital out from there into the co-ax in on the Rega, and you have equalled the Rga DAC-R in performance, for all intents and purposes. The Rega DAC retailed for $1199 when it was on the market. I went deaf in one ear from a virus a few months ago, and have neither a need nor desire for my hi fi gear any longer. After months of deliberation, I've decided to sell it all, so please have a look at my other listings in case there is anything else you might like. You are welcome to come and pick it up from Bunyip, about 20 minutes east of Pakenham. Or I am also happy to deliver it anywhere in Melbourne for free if you prefer. Alternatively, shipping can be arranged at the buyer's expense. https://www.whathifi.com/rega/dac/review https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/ifi-nano-idsd.19896 Pictures:
