  1. Item: Mark Levinson No.531H Power Amplifiers Location: Perth S.O.R Price: $12,000 $10,500 $9700 Item Condition: As new (10/10) Reason for selling: NLR and Need Money Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Bought in April this year from a European authorised dealer to power my Usher BE-10 speakers but the ushers are so efficient they don’t benefit from a lot of power these behemoth can put out and I need money for a Japan holiday. Australian retail price for these is over $20,000; Mark Levinson No. 531H Monaural Power Amplifier The No 531H and No532H are both true mono-block designs with independent power supplies for each channel and are rated at 300W per channel into 8 ohms. The transformers and power supply designs deliver unsurpassed dynamics and transient responses for today’s demanding audio formats and provide stability with even the most difficult to drive loudspeakers. Fully differential circuitry ensures that balanced input signals stay that way throughout the signal path and traditional Mark Levinson “Hurricane” binding posts offer secure termination to the loudspeaker. The four amplifiers in the No500H Series are the definition of truly outstanding performance in their respective categories. Drawing from the Mark Levinson heritage, while utilizing a new, straightforward, balanced, current-feedback design creates a new series of amplifiers that must be listened to in order to be fully appreciated. The final result is impressive even for the Mark Levinson high standard of excellence. Main Features •Reliable, high-power in four different channel configurations provide ideal solutions for any system •Isolated chassis and signal grounds minimize noise, optimizing detail, even at low listening levels •Fully-differential circuitry with both balanced XLR and single-ended RCA inputs •Ethernet and 12V trigger control capability for system integration Inputs one balanced XLR input per channel; one unbalanced RCA input per channel Speaker Connections one pair “Hurricane” loudspeaker outputs with banana-plug sockets per channel (banana-plug socket not available on the 230 VAC models) Communication and Control one Ethernet 10Base-T port; one 3.5mm mono (tip/sleeve) mini plug trigger input, 3-12Vdc; one 3.5mm mono (tip/sleeve) mini plug trigger output, 3-12Vdc; 3-pin IEC standard power connector Rated Output Power into 8 ohms 300W/ch (20Hz to 20kHz at 85dB, reference level: 2.83 Vrms Input Sensitivity 2.83Vrms output at 130mVrms input Gain 26.8dB Input Impedance 60 kΩ (balanced); 30 kΩ (unbalanced) Power Requirements 100V~, 120V~, 230V~, factory set for destination country; Power Consumption 300W Height (with feet): 7.65" (19.4cm); (without feet): 6.97" (17.7cm) Width 17.75" (45.1cm) Depth 19.83" (50.4cm) Weight Net Weight: 52.5lb (23.8kg); Shipping weight: 62.5lb (28.4kg) Tags: Krell, Mcintosh, audio research, luxman, accuphase, esoteric Photos:

  3. Hello All, I'm having a bit of a clean-out and have come to the point where I have decided to move quite a bit of stuff along. Because I've spent quite a lot of time evaluating equipment against the things I build, eventually the time comes to clear things, that time is now.....SO does anyone have opinions to offer on the worth of the Alchemist Pre-Power combination? I've had it for enough years that I have NO idea as to its value so rather than blindly advertise, it seems sensible to me to ask for the collective wisdom that I'm certain is out there: Best Regards to All Alchemist Forseti APD21A pre " " APD20A power
  4. Item: YBA Signature Pre/ power Location: Melbourne Price: $19,990 Item Condition:Excellent Reason for selling: Surplas Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, DD, Extra Info: Excellent build and design. Diguital inputs and MM phono in the preamp with 200 watt/8 ohm power output. Quality end game product. Slight scratching to top of preamp. 5. Item: Adcom GFA 545 power amp + B& K Components PT3 series 2 preamp Location: Melbourne South Eastern Suburb Price: Adcom power amp $200 / B & K preamp $250. Both items are 120v and require a step down transformer. Will throw in a Voltron ST - 2000 step down transformer for free if both items are picked up together. Item Condition: Great condition for their age. Some light scratches on the top lid of the power amp + light touch up on the face plate as seen in the pictures. The preamp is pretty clean. Reason for selling: No longer being used Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Both of these Components were shipped from the US and hence 120V. As stated above, will throw in a step down transformer for free if both items are picked up together. The Adcom was my first truly serious amplifier and did never want to part with it. It has been replaced with a tubed power amplifier and the Adcom has sat idle for over a year. I did not want to part with it but “She who must be obeyed” must be obeyed!! It puts out 100w per channel @ 8 ohms, runs cucumber cool and does not break a sweat. Does its job beautifully while sitting in a corner without drawing any attention to itself. The internals look untouched and clean. Weighs in at a tad bit over 9kg. The B&K is a tuner preamp, has a full range pre out and also a high pass + mono sub out. This is handy if you want to Bi-amp your speakers. The unit comes with a remote and copy of the instructions manual. The unit is pretty solid and weighs 5kg. Both the units are 120V and if bought together will come with a Voltron ST - 2000, 240v to 110v step down transformer. While I would prefer cash and pick up so that the units can be checked / listened to, I can help with shipping for outstation buyers. Packing and shipping will of course be at the buyers cost and risk. Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.

  7. Item: Primare A34.2 Stereo Power Amp (Bridgeable) Location: NSW 2257 Price: $1,050 Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: See Below Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: I purchased this from “overjp” in December last year – in fact I have recycled his original pic’s. This really is a very nice stereo power amp putting out 150W / channel into 8 ohms - more than enough, really. However, being a bit “power hungry” it was my intention to find a 2nd (black) A34.2 and use them as bridged mono-blocks. Astoundingly, in that config a single A34.2 will push out over 500W / channel into 8 ohms!! That said, I got a bit impatient, and I found a set of 350W / channel Class D’s at a decent price, so this unit is now surplus. Reselling it for what I paid a few months back – a VERY reasonable $1,050. (For comparison, there is a Silver demo A34.2 on Gumtree now for $2,199! ) Excellent online reviews. Takes both balanced and RCA inputs. Cosmetically perfect unit, as far as I can see. Comes with original box, and all extras – bridging cable, CD instructions, manual, etc. Happy to post if you meet the cost & insurance. OR……pickup from 2257 Central Coast, NSW - or 2071 Killara. 9. Hi all, I’m wondering if I could ask you couple of questions as an owner of a RB 1090. I’ve recently bought an RB1090 and was working fine at the sellers house. I took the unit home and it powered fine the first time but it starts to trip the circuit breaker after that. I’ve tried plugging directly to the wall with most electronics off and still have the same tripping problem. Did you encounter similar issues of have you used a power filter/conditioner with your power amp? i have been reading that the initial start up of the unit can spike 7 times the power it’s drawing. Perhaps there’s a slow-start issue with the amp? Couple of things that could be an issue: 1) Rotel - internals on the start up sequence 2) Circuit breaker is too sensitive. Tripping a few times maybe needs replacement? 3) Need to upgrade the circuit to a dedicated line? I’m hoping it’s either 1 or 2 but hoping some of you can share some experience.
  10. tem: PS Audio BHK Signature 250 Black bought from Magenta Audio new Location: PERTH Price: $7500 as new and new about $11995 1 year old. Donation to Sna on sale of system. Item Condition: Mint - I can't discern any marks. With box and standard cord. Very heavy, Reason for selling: Bought from War weary here on SNA after he had for 6 months or so. I have had for a few months but had failed back surgery and selling Ps audio system all with less than 20 hours use on all components apart from this power Amp, Warweary said he had not used much either. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal plus fees COD Only Shipping at buyers costs Extra Info: Due to all of the interest about my dsj and bhk signature preamp and other parts I am now listing as single items, I am now separating the advertisements. Pics WAR WEARYS ORIGINALs and Stock shots . I have shots of it in rack but cannot move until I sell to take shots and box up.But its still mint. The BHK Signature 250 and 300 power amplifiers are the culmination of one man’s half-century search for perfection in music’s reproduction. Bascom H. King has designed amplifiers for many companies, some selling in excess of $100,000, including: Constellation Audio, Marantz, Infinity, and Conrad Johnson. This is the first amplifier Bascom felt was good enough to lend his name to. It is his finest achievement in a lifetime of work. Available in both stereo and mono models, the BHK Signature series is unparalleled in its ability to render details formerly lost in the music. The BHK Signature is a hybrid design enjoying performance benefits from multiple design techniques including, a balanced differential vacuum tube input, balanced differential MOSFET power outputs, and separate, isolated, analog power supplies feeding each. When it comes to musically controlling and powering loudspeakers, the BHK Signature has no peer. The stereo Signature 250 produces 250 watts/per channel into an eight-Ohm loudspeaker, 500 watts/channel into four-Ohms, and stable into 2-Ohms; enough power to satisfy even the hungriest of loads. The Mono Signature 300 doubles the output current with half the impedance of the stereo model. Each Mono Signature produces 300 watts into an eight-Ohm loudspeaker, 600 watts into four-Ohms, and 1000 watts into 2-Ohms. But more than just doubling the current, the BHK Signature 300 also doubles every internal component of the 250 into one: double tubes, double power supplies, transistors, capacitors and resistors. The results are hard to put into words. The BHK Signature 300 is a clear step above the stereo 250, on the order of 20% better, though both have the same character of sound. Both the Stereo 250 and Mono 300 are one of the best performing, musical sounding amplifiers ever made. Imagine your delight listening to either. Pictures: Edited June 27, 2017 by warweary

  12. Item: Ayre MX-R 240 Volt Monoblock Power Amps (Pair) Location: NE Victoria (An hour south of Albury) Price: $9500 (No offers at this time thanks) Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: Reducing the power amp collection Payment Method: Pickup (Delivery to Melbourne) - Cash, Paypal, EFT Extra Info: I purchased these amps from a fellow SNA'er back in May 2012. He was the original owner and imported these from the UK when I came to work in Australia. It is quite rear to find the 240-volt versions for sale. A point of interest is that you can not purchase Ayre amps in the US (where they are cheaper) and have the voltage changed by the factory, they do not provide this service. Note these are XLR inputs only and the signal cable needs to be earthed at the source (or you will get hum) I don't know if they will work with a single ended source and an XLR adaptor. I haven’t been using these for the past year as I have another amp that seems to work fine so here is a chance to pick up a pair of MX-R’s (not the twenty series) which a rarely available on SNA. The only issues are one of the front labels has come off, if this worries you I would assume they would be available from Ayre direct. There is a scratch on the front of one of the amps (not normally noticeable) I am happy to deliver these to Melbourne, or I can drop these off if in Albury you want these shipped (at your cost) but they will be quite expensive as they are over 25kg each. Original boxes and packing included. No power cables included. Pictures:
  13. Item: Krell KSA 150 (Class A) Poweramp Location: Currently in Canberra - Can drop to Melbourne Price: $1650 Item Condition: Good Reason for selling: Raising funds for preamp repair Payment Method: Pickup Canberra or delivery to Melbourne - Cash, Paypal, EFT Extra Info: (no boxes or factory packing) I have owned the KSA-150 for the past 13 years and it has operated faultlessly in that period. It hasn't seen much use in the past 5 years as I purchased it's big brother the FPB-600 and have been using that as my main power amp. I have powered up the 150 and run it for a few hours to make sure it is still operating correctly and really was surprised at how good it sounds. It is a beast of an amp and will pretty much drive anything (as Krells are known for) The amp has never been serviced or had the caps changed (I know some will ask that question) I have recently had my preamp repaired and upgraded which has been an expensive exercise, so I am selling off some gear that I really don't use much to fund the repair (hence the sale of the KSA-150) The amp is currently in Canberra on loan to a friend, so if someone in Canberra is interested transport would be very easy. I'll be picking up the amp this Sunday and taking it home to NE Victoria (near Albury). I can provide free transport to Melbourne next Tuesday or Wednesday. Shipping to other places is not really an option as the amp is very heavy and I don't have any suitable packing. There is no Pack and Send within 2 hours of my home and you would have to donate a kidney to have something like this shipped via P+S. I have attached images that my friend was kind enough to take for me last night. Pictures: KSA150250_MAN.pdf
  14. Item: Image by Nelson Audio EL34 Power Amps (Mono blocks) Location: Melbourne City Price: $1300 Item Condition: Great working order Reason for selling: Space constraints /Simplifying system Payment Method: Pickup only - Cash, Paypal Extra Info: These mono-blocks made a substantial difference to my system in terms of texture, resolution, speed, attack and the general warmth (EL34) tubes are renowned for. Punching well above their weight, Image by Nelson Audio are based on the Marantz 9 power amps. 75 watts output based on 4 x EL34 tubes and each unit weighs in at about 35kg each. Since purchasing this, I have had the switches replaced and bias adjusted and although the units have some minor cosmetic blemishes, functionally they work exceptionally well. A reluctant sale, there is simply not enough space in my lounge to accommodate these heavy beasts due to some new hardware taking up limited space in my rack. These amps would be difficult to pack and post so I'm just open to local pick-up only. Any questions welcome. Thanks for looking

  17. Item: Simaudio Moon Neo 350p and 330a - Power amp and Preamp pair Location: Richmond, Victoria Price: $6000 (latest 350p is $6399 and 330a $5799) Item Condition: excellent (just under 2 years old) Reason for selling: Looking to try something different (yes, valves again just in time for winter) Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, could ship as i have the original boxes Extra Info: These were purchased new from previous distributor before Addicted to Audio (Busisoft AV) took over. 350p preamp is the 2nd version D2p with a built in DACUSB, Optical, Coax (192/24 Burr Brown, no DSD on this version). The USB is capable of full 24/192 without a driver from MacOS (not certain about windows This one also has a basic internal phono stage (that I have not used) The phono module accommodates moving-magnet or moving-coil cartridges, and can be adjusted for gain (40 or 60dB), capacitance (0 or 100pF), and impedance (100 or 47k ohms). I understand the lid must be popped to change those settings. 330A power amp - is 125Wpc into 8 ohms or 250Wpc into 4 ohms. Or two of them can be used in bridged mono, each producing 400W into 8 ohms. I can include some balanced cables for connecting the two amps together Pictures:

Hi folks I bought this power amplifier on this forum a couple of years ago and never really got around to using it. Am more than happy to part ways with it. I used it a few times with my ATC's but it didn't appear to represent that much of a difference from just using my 90W Yamaha Receiver. Priced for a quick sale. http://www.stereophile.com/solidpoweramps/608/#PfRJSHg6jt8lzzpZ.97 Pictures:

  22. Item:1-Micrex R-1 Preamp and two Micrex P-1 Power amplifiersLocation:Darwin NTPrice:$4000.00 ONOItem Condition:Very goodReason for selling:Owner has passed away, wife does not want themPayment Method: Cash, Paypal, COD OnlyExtra Info: Micrex P-1 Valve-Mosfet Hybrid This unusual hybrid mosfet-valve triode amplifier is a creation by Mick Maloney of Supratek fame. The Micrex brand is now owned by Sonique Audio of South Australia. These amps were released to rave reviews around 1994, and targeted the Australasian market. They captured everyone's imagination at the time with their beautiful styling and good sound. The Micrex P-1 is a hybrid design delivering 75w/ch from two pairs of nice sounding Hitachi mosfets driven by EL34 valves in triode mode. The amp is robustly constructed and is designed to be stable into most speaker loads, circuitry is simple and made to last a lifetime. The Micrex sounds surprisingly nice, an excellent marriage of tube and solid state virtues. While not totally tubey sounding, it does hint at valve sweetness and harmonics with the added advantage of excellent s.s drive and composure. The Micrex has plenty of clarity, good separation and images well. It has no trouble driving Apogee Stages or my ESL-3 electrostatic speakers (although, the heat sinks do get quite warm on these difficult speakers). Pictures:
  23. Item: First Watt F6 Class A power-amp & First Watt Class A Bride of Zen Pre-amplifier. Location: Brisbane Northside Price: SOLD Item Condition: F6 is in pretty good nick. Perhaps 9/10 - some minor marks on front panel. Preamp has no more than a few hundred hours use. Some minor scuffs on top plate approx 8/10 Reason for selling: Simplifying my system and my life. Payment Method: Pickup preferred (cash) but can post at cost (Paypal - pay as a friend or add 5% if not) Extra Info: Some background. Nelson Pass set up First Watt as a side "hobby" to fulfil his desire to experiment with unusual typologies. His thoughts, observations and experiments can be read about in great detail at http://www.firstwatt.com/f6.html The poweramp: The F6 is the logical successor to the F5. The design uses an auto-transformer per channel and unusually for Nelson Pass, feedback though not global feedback (no NP design has global feedback TTBOMK). The design is tuned to create 2nd order distortion with a some 3rd order for a bit of bite. Higher order distortion has been tuned out. Power is conservatively rated at 25 watts RMS into 8ohms and rises to 50 watts RMS into 4ohms. I believe it can handle lower impedances than this. As with a lot of Class A designs, the power rating is a bit misleading as they can handle much higher transient spikes than the low RMS might suggest. Quality components used throughout - was put together by @Green Wagon for @Full Range 6moons have written several incomprehensible reviews on the F6 - be prepared to commit yourself to a few hours and a lot of head scratching with those ones. This review at least gives you a clear picture of the reviewers thoughts -https://newrecordday.com/first-watt-f6-power-amplifier/ - this is a very relaxing amplifier that sounds quite tube-like at least in terms of musicality though not in terms of adding euphonics. A great combination. I have them set up with my PDX DAC at the office so I could do an audition for anyone genuinely interested. Build thread is here - http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/pass-labs/278695-upgrade-f5-f6.html And the sound? Well I am not going to claim that this is some giant killer. In my system with a PDX DAC and a variety of pre-amps it gives me a smooth and detailed presentation with oodles of bass. Not super fast, nor super tight bass nor super detailed in absolute terms but it is an amplifier that you will find yourself listening to for hours whether from a digital or analogue source. I know I have. The preamp:I bought the BOZ off Y B a few months ago to use with my Pass Labs F6 clone. The volume pot that was on this unit had a little bit of play at really low volumes. Since replacing the pot with a really nice TKD unit, the issue has gone and detail has gone up considerably - put in by @Green Wagon. Mosfets feed the outputs and provide a large degree of gain - perfect if you are struggling to get a power amp' to sufficient volumes. Audiophile capacitors. Very sweet sound but without any attempt at artificial smoothing. Sound is surprisingly full / fat but with excellent detail. Will give a nice 2nd order sweetness to solid state gear without adding any colourations to the sound. 4 inputs, single stereo outputs. No thump-on. Here is Mr Pass' take on the amplifier" Subjective Performance / Conclusion "It is in this spot that the author elucidates the sonic astonishment which awaits the amateur upon completion of the project. I will not disappoint you. It sounds marvellous. Really. No Kidding" - Nelson Pass
