I started my analogue journey back in the 70's. Started with a Leak TT and a Sure MM cart - 91ED if I remember. About 10 years ago, after a number of MM cart upgrades, I bought an Ortofon Rondo Blue. Very happy but recently it required re-tipping so off to Garrotts. In the meantime I listened to and throughly enjoyed my Garriott K2. In fact I enjoyed it so much I cancelled the re-tipping and bought a K3. As you know the K1 to K3 have all the same motor just a different and more expensive stylus profile as you move up. I think the K3 is Shibata.
Well still early days but enjoying the naturalness and weight of the K3. Further more though I have built and still own a number of DIY MC stages these are no longer required and I plug straight into DIY tube MM preamp. A really great and immediate sound.
I'd like to hear from others if they have gone the same way (back to MM) and why. Also what do others think are the advantages and disadvantages, sound wise, or any other way, between MM and MC.
