Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, Direct Deposit Extra Info: Nice little monoblocks, 60wpc into 8 ohms and 75wpc into 4 so they are not powerhouses but they are quite respectable if used on speakers that are not too demanding. Both come in original packaging with original manuals and original performance printouts. Both come with power cords too but they are most likely not the original factory cords. These were Perreaux's lifestyle range of gear from about 12 years ago, no class D, all class A/B. Designed to be used with a passive pre so they should combine well with a Schiit Sys. First time to the club David Corazza from 'Sound and Music', will be showcasing the new Perreaux 200iX integrated amplifier to the Australian market. With the re-launch of the company, Perreaux is keen to re-establish itself with a new line up of solid state amplifiers. Based in New Zealand, Perreaux has for over 40 years been manufacturing MOSFET based hi fi amplifiers, hand-made with individually selected components. They have almost single handedly championed the sonic virtues of MOSFET based amplification. The importer, Sound and Music, has also introduced to the Australian market a new brand of speaker from Finland. Amphion is a name that is not so familiar to us but are well established in Europe. David will be demonstrating a tall floor standing model from the Amphion range. The Krypton3 is a innovative three-way speaker that houses a 1 inch Titanium Tweeter, two 8 inch Paper Mids and a 10 inch Aluminium Woofer per box. The three-way design is configured with the two midranges in a cardioid enclosure placed vertically above and below the tweeter. Incorporated in this design is the U/D/D technology. Uniformly Directive Diffusion helps to keep their clarity and naturalness, and reduces unwanted sound reflections from both side and back walls. Side mounted woofers (in a vented enclosure) can be positioned facing inside or outside (for a broader soundstage) to each other. We are in for a pretty exiting night of Hi Fi, with a new amplifier from Perreaux to a new brand of speaker from Finland, and a new presenter who promises to bring along a special piece of equipment with a very limited production run. Working Great, this refined and powerfull amp is made in New Zealand by the well known Perreaux, a renowned maker of high quality, high-end audiophile audio. There is only a small visual damage in the letter "R" (see picture), only visible if looking close. That is why the price is half of the same model on used market and 1/4 of a similar new one. I purchased it to run some power hungry Kef Reference 104/2 but have since changed directions. This thing is perfect for 2 channel listening or for giving some home theater speakers some real power. Item: One Perreaux Audiant 80i Integrated Amp rated at 80wpc with built in 24/96 DAC. Location: Bowen Nth Qld Price: $1650 including postage to the eastern states of Australia (I have yet to see one of these amps available second hand, so I had to buy it new, which is why the price is so much higher than my amps usually are) Item Condition: As new, barely 200 hours of use. Reason for selling: Bought to review and now would like some cash to use to recap an older power amp and fix up an older cd player. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: This amp has a very musical midrange, it has a high damping factor so the bass is a little light on but has a good level of detail and control on what is actually there. The built in DAC is rather good, IMO. In pictures 1 and 3 you can see that the plastic strip that protects the the front perspex layer (where all the buttons are, along the front under the volume knob) is still stuck to the amp. It really does a great job running them and will run any hard to drive speakers with ease. From memory it makes over 300w rms into 8ohms? Has been recapped, some new MOSFETs and modded by the legendary Canberra based engineer Bill Crampton just a few years ago. Has been converted into an integrated amp for two inputs and two outputs. Remote controlled volume (but not power on/off). New heat sensing fan which only spins up when required. Does have a slight hum which is inaudible when the music starts but some might find annoying...Bill said it was due to the huge power transformers, it never bothered me. Great amp with great performance and for the price how can you go wrong?
