  1. Item: Lenehan PDX DAC Location: Canberra, ACT Price: 650 + post Item Condition: 7/10 Reason for selling: No longer being used Payment Method: Pickup or post - Cash, Paypal (buyer pays fee or as friend and family) Extra Info: These DACs need no introduction. They are wonderful sounding and have an incredible mid-range. I have recently purchased a DAC that lets me switch between USB and SPDIF optical but unfortunately the PDX only does USB. I did toy with the idea of adding a SPDIF optical to IS2 card and connecting it to the current IS2 connection but decided I would stick to the DAC without tubes so I could leave it on permanently. The DAC could easily have a HDMI or Ethernet connection added to the back and connected to the current IS2 connection (BNC connectors) for more modern IS2 output devices. My unit has the PCM1704UK chips, MCap gold/silver output caps and Genelax Golden Lion 6922s. Included will be a set of Voskhod 6922s that I paid $50 for recently. Convenience really is the only reason I am letting this go. Now the unit has been worked on by good techs, whose work is good and some non techs whose work was not so good. The work is passable but I like to be very honest when I sell things so the buyer doesn’t have any complaints. When I received the unit the pads on the PCB had come off because the caps weren’t secured properly but I also repaired this and it won’t be a problem moving forward. I have done some work and I will list it here. I replaced a faulty HIFACE USB module with a much better AMANERO USB module and have done a semi-permanent installation (with the cabling) in case someone wanted to re-install an original HIFACE USB module. I recently replaced the R-core transformer which was vibrating and suffering from hum and at the same time fixed the output caps so that they were more secure and uniform. Now the unit is sounding fantastic. I am happy to audition it at my house or if you’re in Canberra, I can drop past and you can listen in your system. Pictures:
  2. Item: PDX Level 2 DAC with optical volume control (new Audyn True Copper Max Output caps) Location:Brisbane Price: Keeping it Item Condition: Very good condition Reason for selling: See below Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: It’s the top one in the pic Pictures:
  3. Item: PDX DAC (L2) with LDR and remote control, Hiface USB and ClarityCap MR caps Location: Melbourne (eastern burbs) Price: $550 Item Condition: Great. Barely visible nick at the top of the front faceplate. Reason for selling: Upgrading Payment Method: Cash/PayPal Extra Info: Has a burgundy faceplate - quite nice. L2 + USB options. Pictures: Happy to send to interested parties EDIT: PDX still for sale, price reduced. If it's not in a new home shortly I'll accept offers on parts from it (DAC ICs, caps, LDR, Hiface + reg board, chassis, main board, transformers etc) Bought this on SNA. Had Duelund caps at the time, I've pulled these for another project and replaced them with new 400V ClarityCap MR's - these are honestly excellent (check reviews) despite still running in. This DAC was originally SPDIF in, and was later updated with a Hiface for USB input. The Hiface has been wired into the socket for the SPDIF chip; in the current configuration this DAC is USB-only. A new owner could find a new SPDIF chip (CS8412 - around $30 shipped for a good on on eBay) and restore the coax SPDIF input, or have some extra circuitry installed to run both (comes complete with a switch). The LDR and remote are great if you're looking for a DAC that includes a volume control. Valves are Phillips PCC88's in good condition. You can, of course, roll valves with many good choices out there at a number of price points. For those that don't know the PDX - runs a pair of PCM1704k DAC ICs which are very, very nice - arguably last of the ol-skool R2R DAC ICs. They'll handle 24-bit audio natively and have characteristic 'slam' - some really audible attack! On hires material it really shines. Canny types armed with soldering irons could upgrade this to power the HiFace off batteries (or replace the USB stage entirely). Would suggest that if you're intending on connecting this to a Mac that it isn't the DAC for you (M2Tech hasn't released an updated OS X driver yet). For Windows and Linux users there's no issue - I have it running on Daphile flawlessly at the moment. Would prefer a sale in Melbourne (though can pack to ship interstate). If you're super local and serious, I'm happy to demo it. Reach out via PM. Cheers. A brief on the pics: 'HiFace and power' - You can clearly see what powers the HiFace. In higher-spec'd versions, this runs batteries. You're welcome to convert it if you like; it's not hard to run it off batteries or batteries with a charger. 'External rear' - The USB port was a later addition on this one. Used to be two SPDIF inputs and the switch to the right on the front panel would choose between. Now just USB in, and the coax in isn't functional, but can be restored. 'SPDIF socket' - Restoring the coax in starts with pulling these pins and inserting your SPDIF chip here if you so choose. 'Output caps' - 400V 2.2uF ClarityCap MR's. Very nice. 'LDR' - I understand from the previous owner this was upgraded once. It's actually an LDR and motorized pot, so you do your thing with the remote and the knob moves. Total range is around 3/4 turn.
  4. Item: PDX DAC (L2) with volume attenuator (LDR) and remote control, Hiface USB and ClarityCap MR caps Location: Melbourne (eastern burbs) Price: $540 or swap (see below) Item Condition: Great. Barely visible nick at the top of the front faceplate. Reason for selling: Upgrading Payment Method: Cash/PayPal Extra Info: Has a burgundy faceplate - quite nice. L2 + volume + USB options. Pictures: Att'd Giving this one last chance to sell as one unit at a silly-low price - if it's not gone by Monday, I'll keep some of it for parts and sell the rest. Those in the know will know. Last of the R2Rs. The DAC IC's alone are worth more than this DAC. Valves are Phillips PCC88. You can upgrade to Phillips E88CC SQ - awesome stuff. Runs a Hiface USB. You can restore the SPDIF in if you like, or run the Hiface off battery like the higher-spec PDX's, or both. The volume control is effectively a lightspeed-type affair with a remote control. Believe it may be wired as a shunt (if so, you're two Vishay nudes away from nirvana). Works well. ClarityCaps are new. This was at one stage running Duelund VSF Copper - I've removed these for another project. IMHO spending lesser to upgrade the tubes and USB section returns more value than the Duelund caps. Or just enjoy it as is - it's a very good DAC (well beyond prosumer grade stuff), especially when fed hires. Not for people running Macs/OS X (no current Hiface driver). You're find on Windows/Linux/Linux derivatives (Daphile, Vortexbox, etc). Don't like Burgundy? Paint it black. Will swap/part swap for a valve set (2x 2A3, 2x 6SN7, 1x GZ30 or similar). Or a high-pressure water cleaner >2800PSI (non-audio but has WAF). Want it cheaper still? I can swap out the ClarityCap MRs. PM me for options.
  5. Item: Lenehan Audio PDX Tube Dac - Mundorf Silver Gold Oil - USB & I2S inputs Location: Brisbane Northside - available during work hours. Price: $old Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: Changes to my work environment mean I have to get rid of a lot of equipment. I will keep it and use it at home if no-one wants it. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal (as a friend or add 3%) Extra Info: Can be fed either USB or I2S. It has a toggle switch at the front to change between the two inputs. 16/24bit toggle switch also, You would need a transport that outputs I2S with a masterclock to get this to work - I believe. 16 bit is when used via I2S and 24bit is for USB. Was originally a USB only input. Terry Demol (zenelectro) installed the I2S input and did a general check over for the previous owner. Dual Mono premium “U-K”-grade Burr Brown PCM1704 DAC chips. This is an early PCB version. The 2.2uf Mundorf Silver Gold oil caps are worth about $280 delivered by themselves. Running a matched pair of gold lion 6922 tubes. The battery isolated USB input (similar to JKSPDIF MK3 I believe), This unit gives what I believe to be a very pleasing timbrel quality to music - not in any way the stereotypical "digital" sound. If you don't like the mild influence of tubes or NOS DAC chips, this is not for you - please move on. Pictures: I've thrown in a bonus image to get you prepared for Halloween (you'll know when you see it).
