  1. Hi I am considering these speaker: https://omegaloudspeakers.com/collections/monitor-speakers/products/super-7-monitor-speaker?variant=32164679756 After some consideration with my current system that includes a Rega Brio amp with some Dali 400 floor standers I have decided to go for a smaller speaker that will have better clarity and possibly work better in my space. I feel the Dali's are too big for my space. I came across the above Omega full range speakers and they sparked my interest for their small cabinet size and from what I can find by other uses they are very fast, detail and musical little speakers that do not sacrifice too much bass for a full range speaker. They also seem good value at around A$1250 and hand made in the US. I'm wondering if anyone else has had any experience with these Omegas or any others in their range and can chime in on there impressions? Lots of owners in the US seem to rave about them and suggest they can make you reconsider what full range speakers are capable of. I actually don't have any experience with full range speakers but from what I understand they can have beautiful mid range and image well.
  2. Item: 1965 Omega Seamaster 600 135.011 601 calibre watch Location: Townsville, QLD, Australia Price: $900 including express post. Item Condition: Used Reason for selling: Slimming down collection, see description Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: The Seamaster was fully serviced in 2014 by a watchmaker in Melbourne, evidenced by the marking in the caseback. It keeps good time and is in excellent condition for its age, see photos for description of physical condition. The watch is all original per the Omega markings in the appropriate places throughout the watch and is very rare to see in the Red Cross on white dial configuration. Sale includes the pictured alligator watch band which is an aftermarket piece. I have not polished the case so as to not detract originality and to provide the buyer the option of doing so or not at their discretion. Selling as I recently inherited a 1969 Omega Speedmaster Professional from my late father, and so will be wearing this watch as my new daily indefinitely at this point. As such slimming down my collection as I have too many watches. At $900 I will include express postage and insurance throughout Australia. Pictures:
  3. Item: Omega Super XRS 8 Alnico Speakers - Zebrawood Price: $1250 (FIRM) excludes freight and insurance to be covered by purchaser. Location: Coogee Sydney Omega Super XRS 8 Alnico Speakers - Zebrawood Item Condition: Excellent, one scratch on back of speaker just above binding posts (see pic). The cloth on the grills could probably do with a little paste down, only about an inch long. Original boxes/packaging available. Reason for selling: Downsizing to active monitors Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Omega is well known in the single driver world and there are several reviews online. Although high-efficiency usually goes hand in hand with low powered tube amps I have used this set-up with a hybrid 80 watt APL UA1 to great effect. Currently I alternate between a First Watt F5 clone and an Art Audio Quintet tube amp to drive the system. Both amps are 20W class A and provide a beautiful match for this set-up. One or both of these power amps will also be up for sale shortly. I did borrow a Wavac 300B for a while and it sounded wonderful too, but any decent amp will be fine. More than happy to demo for interested buyers but you may want to bring your pre-amp, I’m currently using the volume control on my CD player so dynamics are bit reduced. I purchased the Omegas from @Eggmeister in 2014. If you are not familiar with single driver speakers I suggest an audition before jumping in, they aren't to everyone's taste. The photos make the speakers look a bit lighter and honey coloured so an inspection is recommended. The original packaging is available so shipping is possible at your risk and cost, however a local pick-up purchase will be preferred. Omega Super 8 XRS Sensitivity: 93dB Impedance: 8 ohms Driver: Proprietary 8" Omega with alnico magnet Frequency response: 35Hz - 18kHz Dimensions: 889x330x330 (HWD) Grills: Magnetically attached Power requirements: 2w and up Pictures:
  4. Hi everyone, Im possibly about to pick up some Omega or Hoyt Bedford speakers depending on how this week pans out and to say theres a plethora of choices is an understatement. Im a bit lost. These are high efficiency speakers around 93-97db so id say maybe 5+ watts minimum. The builder Louis recommends 7+ is optimal. I listen to lots of acoustic jazz, rock and hip hop but also complex orchestral passages on occasion. My partner listens to quite a bit of pop and deep house as well and since these are going in the lounge I'd say i need to be able to cover the range. After having a bit of a look around the internet I'm seen a few options. I've read that Omegas prefer push pulls over SET but thats third hand info. I'm looking at the First Watt J2 (if i can find one), the Trafomatic Aries and am interested in Earle Westons amps. Aesthetically they suit the Omegas and he's got a good reputation here but its hard to see where his amps sit by reading through the forums. Are they competitive with Decware? Audio Note? Are they fast enough and tight enough in the bass for modern electronica? I would like to support local and have support i can trust though, that would be a positive. As for flavour, I prefer treble air / sparkle and an expansive, holographic soundstage about most other descriptors. Clean and musical bass would be a plus and just a touch warmer than neutral suits me. With that being said, I know full rangers aren't known for their treble extension. Thus an audition this week. But really I don't know what I'm talking about and ill take any and all suggestions. Less than $2000 would be great, happy to buy used. Could stretch to $2500 if it'll change my life.
