  3. Item: YAMAHA RX-S 600D Location: CANBERRA (Bungendore, but can deliver to City) Price: $250 Item Condition: 9.9/10 (ie there must be something but I can't spot any damage at all, even the remote is pretty much as new) Reason for selling: NLR, got a NAD T758 Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: I bought this new a few years back and it's been a great unit. Very decent performance for the money and the slimline chassis just disappeared compared with full size AVR's. Great connectivity options (better than the NAD I replaced it with at 10 times this price!) with 5x HDMI 2.0 inputs etc. It has an ethernet port and would stream music from my NAS and do internet radio. Spotify and Airplay (1) are also built in but I never tried them. Has FM radio and DAB+ which is pretty cool for the year. Note it doesn't have wifi, but an adapter is available. I cable everything where possible so didn't worry me. Can be controlled from the excellent Yamaha AV Control App (Apple / Android). Current equivalent is RX-S 602 @ $899rrp, which has Musicast and HDCP2.2 but otherwise seems pretty similar. I used a chromecast and Plex for streaming with this unit which worked really well, powered from the convenient USB on the back. All in all a great little compact AVR with better performance than you'd expect and most modern features. As shown it has the original box and packaging. I'd prefer local pickup but can ship if you arrange and pay for it and assume the liability. I am out near Bungendore but can bring it into CBR or surrounds for delivery / testing. 10. Hi Everyone, Well I've finally decided to go ahead and get a wired data network installed in my house. One of the main reasons is so that I can stream to my PS Audio DSD and eventually another DAC/Streaming device. I use JRiver but am considering Roon later on. I'm also going to have Ethernet jacks installed for Televisions, PC's, Printer, apple TV's, Blu Ray, & NAS. All the Ethernet cables will end up in the sever rack (Garage) that will house the patch panel and Netgear JGS524PE network switch. There will be about 14 Ethernet ports all up wired with either Cat6 or CAT 6A ethernet cable. I have spoken to a qualified installer about the job and it shouldn't be a problem at all. So is there anything else I need to add or think about? I have a fair idea about networking but not the finer details. Cheers John
  11. Item: Cambridge Audio Stream Magic 6 V1 Location: Melbourne (Inner West) Price: $300 ONO Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: NLR Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Pictures: Hi All. My completist system streak has kicked in and I'm moving my CA Stream Magic along, having replaced it with another brand that matches the rest of my rig. Solid network streamer, perfect for Spotify DLNA streams with the only caveat being 24bit/96Khz is a little flakey on wireless as it has an older chipset. Ethernet or USB connected hi-res audio is fine. You've got the holy trinity of outputs here: XLR, RCA, and Toslink Optical/Coax It's handy on the inputs too: USB type A/B, Toslink Optical, Digital Coax It can function as a preamp but I don't feel that is it's strength (read 4DB jumps between volume levels) In all it's a groovy unit, just add amp. I've got an old kit power amp if you need something to get you up and going, drop me a message and we can talk turkey.
  12. 13. 15. Item: SoTM sMS-200 Location: Cleveland, QLD Price: $500 (+$15 for shipping) Item Condition: Barely used Reason for selling: trying something different Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal (add +3%), Bank Transfer Extra Info: Purchased new on 17 Jan 2017 from Australian distributor, Crux Audio, arguably one of the best bargains in hifi today. 2016 saw the rise of the Sonore microRendu which beat out just about every network streamer, cost no-object. SoTM then licensed the hardware and software from Sonore and released the sMS-100 based off the microRendu. The SMS-200, released late last year, from all reports, outperforms the microRendu (when compared using the same power supplies). Acts as either a Roon Endpoint, AirPlay server (ShairPort-Sync v3.0), SqueezeTouch Lite, HQPlayer NAA or DLNA/MPD player... best performing/sound quality network player you'll ever hear, crushes the microRendu and Auralic Aries femto at a fraction of the price. Comes with the stock SMPS power supply and sounds great, but really comes alive with a good quality linear power supply (personally used with an Uptone LPS-1 to great effect). Review: Pictures:
  16. Hi all. Please see my other thread; http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/index.php/topic/103650-choosing-a-dacstreamer-for-my-main-2-channel-audio/ but I though perhaps asking this in a separate thread may clean things up a bit. Basically, I'm setting up a wired and wireless home network. I have a Consonance Suzanne DAP on a little dock as my digital player. It's plugged directly into ethernet>router>modem. It's also got a hard drive with lots of music directly plugged into it via USB. My router (ASUS) has 2 USB ports, and I believe I can add have drives here that computers on the network should be able to access. Whilst moving slowly towards a NAS, I'm keen to get the network usable via ipads/iphones. The Suzanne DAP is a bit of a pain to search for music on. Ideally, I want to grab an Ipad, access (wirelessly) my drive (either plugged into the Suzanne or into the router) of music, pick something, and play! I plan to likely use Roon down the track, but will hold off until the various issues I've read about with QNAP and Synergy NAS's have been ironed out, and their prices fall a bit. So what do I do? I believe some sort of UPnP app in needed? There's one XP desktop, 2 apple laptops (one newish, one old), 2 ipads, 2 iphones, 1 ipod touch. Man, I think I've put Job's kids though college..... All the best, Mat

  18. In my search for the ultimate multi channel/zone HTPC I came across Dante Network Audio. They make use of the existing Computer Network to send and sync audio up to 512 channels and more. The latency seems very low and it can send and synchronize clock signals between multiple devices. They have a virtual sound card (64 channels) which uses your existing network port https://www.audinate.com/products/software/dante-virtual-soundcard They have a physical sound card (64 - 128 channels) with word clock synchronization https://www.audinate.com/products/manufacturer-products/dante-pcie-card And a bunch of other products https://www.audinate.com/products And a bunch of other Dante enabled products https://www.audinate.com/products/dante-enabled This is all for Pro Audio at the moment, but if I would to have a crystal bow, it probably will show this. For me this all makes perfect sense, and it creates many possibilities for our future digital life style. In some way, this already exist in Sonos like systems and in some way in wireless speakers, but none give you the freedom and flexibility that Dante could provide. Anyone else just as exited as me about this?
  19. Hi, Acquired new in Feb 2014 and never utilised for its potential having played under 10 Blu-Ray movies in it's life. If interested i'm moving it on for $4.5k. Mint condition and by electronics standards barely run in. I live in Brisbane and happy to help facilitate shipping at buyers expense. It comes with all original accessories and I believe I still have the original boxes in storage. An exhaustive list of 5 star high-end reviews and accolades on the google. But i'm sure you already knew that. Cheers, Bev

  21. Good day, folks, I am thinking of putting a PC into my main system as a possible replacement for my media player. Why? Because the media player will not run absolutely everything (most, but not all), will not talk to the internet and because the PC is free. So the question is: What parts would be best to populate this PC with? Soundcard model for the best possible (stereo-only!) sound? Any USB bus types for extra external disks (of which I have many)? What o/s (I am thinking Ubuntu as it is free and can run headless if necessary) and if there are any drivers for using a remote control on such a beast? Any big no-nos here, things to watch out for? I think my other half would like that it is just a PC in the system rather than having to learn the ins and outs of my current media player. As yet I do not know the chip inside the PC, only that it is a small tower (not yet seen it) nor what else it has, but this should kick start the possible project at least... All recommendations gratefully received. Cheers. Al.
