I did some DIY acoustic treatment and I decided to record the whole process so I can teach others how to do their own acoustic treatment with the right materials and designs to actually make a difference and not just because it looks cool. I see so many music studios with walls plastered with those cheap square foam panels. While they look great, they really don't work anywhere near as well the materials that I have used myself. All they do is control mid- high frequencies (somewhat) and do nothing for the low end. The low end is the thing that most producers struggle to get right in their mix and without proper low frequency absorption, it makes it even harder to get right. I came up with my own bass trap designs that not only look professional but perform really well too and in this video, you will learn why I chose to use the insulating material I used and exactly how to make your own bass traps the same as mine. These bass traps are a free- standing design so your walls and ceiling will be untouched. I will also be explaining the difference between having an air gap vs no air gap with acoustic panels and you will see what materials I have used for my first reflection point panels and how I mounted them to the ceiling and the walls with an air gap. No cutting the material, building frames or wrapping required and you can mount the side wall panels without damaging your walls. I have also included a before and after comparison sound test at the end of the video so that you can hear for yourself, the difference that doing proper acoustic treatment can make to the sound of your studio. I think you will be convinced that acoustic treatment does make a substantial difference to the sound of your studio and I hope that this video will assist you to set up your own acoustic treatment the right way.
