  4. A bit of background, I have owned a few projectors, a couple of epson LCD projectors over the years and then the last few years been very happy with a JVC X-35 projector. So Ultra UHD is on our door step ... of course as I am very enthusiastic about these things what should I do ? The obvious would be one of the new Sony 4K projectors...but then have seen the flagship sony 1100ES that retails at over $25k being humbled by my few generations old base model jvc. and even the cheapest 4K sony is some $15k !!!! way more than what I would want to spend and then to top off I find all the sony models in some way or the other dont fully support the new UHD format with either lacking HDR (high dynamic range) or lacking support for the DCI p3 wider gamut that the new format will support. And then I find out JVC has a new range...something that has been 2 years in the making.... http://cdn.jvc.eu/dla-x9000/index.html And unlike the Sony's it built for UHD, utilising a new 4K E-shift 4, and is HDR and wider gamut p3 DCI capable. But hey is it true 4k? The shift for jvcs has always been a 1080p panel that they shift really fast diagonaly to essentially upscale. However according to the jvc info the new 4k e-shift 4 is an evolution of this that takes a 4k signal splits into two frames diagonally and utilises a half pixel diagonal shift with the 1080p panel to create a 4k frame. Something JVC gives a brief explanation of, http://cdn.jvc.eu/dla-x9000/feature01.html Now I am pretty skeptical, though apparently a technology co developed by JVC and japans NHK engineers, that had them develop a 8k projector http://www.pmaresearch.com/pma-blogs/jvc-announces-8k-resolution-projector-with-e-shift-technology/ so a trickle down for 4k consumer projector cant be too much of a stretch hey ? Anyways 4k is beyond Imax and I have no intention of putting in a setup of greater scale than imax so not really chasing 4k. My interest is the other aspects of UHD with HDR and wider gamut and if I get any gains in resolution than what we have ...i'll happily take it with local pricing placing the base model X5000 at $6,160, mid range model X7000 at $8,800 and top model X9000 on $10,450 (not including 3D glasses..but fortunately I already have them from my previous JVC) So as it happens...before I know it ...it turns out I am the first person in the country ordering one of these JVCs ! I go for the piggy in the middle. since the base model uses the previous generation light engine, doesnt quite cover the p3 wide gamut and also quite a bit down on contrast vs the previous years models. And the top model is really only the mid range model with some hand picked parts......so the x7000 model it is for me And I am then one of the first in the world to be receiving one of these black boxes ... on my birthday ! and posting an unboxing...

  6. Now this is *really* different, so before I get back to the newer and much costlier headphones, consider that this $13 USD headphone may sound better (equalized) than many so-called flagships that are played "as is". http://www.hifiheadphones.co.uk/community/threads/jvc-flats-on-ear-stereo-mini-headphone-review.4547/
  7. Up for sale is my JVC DLA-HD350 projector. I purchased this early 2010. Original RRP for this was $5000. Anyone who know's JVC projectors knows just how good they are, with extraordinary blacks, colours, motion tracking and levels of detail. This review by WhatHiFi on Youtube pretty much says it all - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7zJAa8Ffwk The DLA-HD350 was WhatHiFi's product of the year for 2009, as they say in the video review nothing else came close. Location for pickup is Middle Park Victoria. I will throw in the ceiling mount for this projector. Looking for $1000.
  8. Item: JVC X35 Projector Price Range: ~$1600 Item Condition: Used Extra Info: Hi all, So I decided to do some maintenance on my projector and ended up dropping the darn thing when taking it off the mount, so here I am I'm located in Perth but open to having it shipped over. Thank you, Lindsay
  9. Item: EOI JVC X7000 projector Location: SE Melbourne Price: $3400 plus shipping (original retail $8,800) Item Condition: As new under 1000 hours Reason for selling: upgrading Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal (buyer cost), direct debit Extra Info: Expressions of interest for JVCs X7000 projector in black. Under 3 years old but in as new condition, with low hours (under 1000 - the lamps are rated to 4500 hours so this one is still lot up its sleeve). And it has been treated meticulously, fully updated with all firmware, fully setup and autocal calibrated. It is available with all box and accessories as would buy new from the shop. Being sold here at pretty sharp price I believe vs the $8,800 original retail and still considerable saving over even the current new price now if can get hold of one. more info from the JVC au site, http://au.jvc.com/projectors/home_cinema/dla_x7000b/ This is an expression of interest as considering one of the new projectors. To secure this projector will require a $200 deposit and I will only be able to provide it when the new projector arrives in late December early Jan. Person buying is welcome to come see in action and rest assured it will be packed away to not exceed the 1000 hours this is being advertised at. If unsure how this will work, get in touch as I have done this before with previous projector (3 years ago) and that sale went smoothly with very happy buyer. What this projector packs is ability to enjoy the new UHD 4k formats and come with full hdmi chipset to take advantage. Plus High dynamic range (HDR) capability along with wide colour gamut (WCG) to take advantage of what these formats have to offer. I have spent considerable time and effort with the projector to fully setup so its a press of a button to select either blu-ray or uhd. It is fully autocal calibrated and nature of it is such that it calibrates the projector itself and will just need some dialling in to meet new owners setup. This projector itself is hugely popular and people like zombie, manni and Dave Vaughn (sound vision magazine) still run this series as really with some basics they not greatly different to newer series. The X7000 is hugely popular as they were a significant step up form the X5000 series in that this model like the model above in the x9000 brought better light engine with significant dynamic contrast of 1,200,000:1 or 120,000:1 native. They also brought the dual iris, full colour gamut higher output, ISF and THX certifications. The later releases of Xx500 and Xx900 brought some minor additions but most of these can be worked around as most people have been doing. So grab yourself a great bargain here over buying one of the newer models or anything really at the money that is not going to come remotely close to what this is capable off. Pictures: what will be getting (note I did peel off that ugly yellow sticker though ! ) some screen shots showing just how good this projector is ...note its even more awesome in person !
  10. Item: Emotiva XPR-5 (5 channel amplifier) Location: Canberra Price: $1700 Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: Moving o/s; no longer required. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash / Bank transfer. Condition: Excellent Owners Manual: https://emotiva.com/resources/manuals/xpr5_manual.pdf Extra Info: 400 Watts per channel into 8 Ohms / 600 Watts into 4Ohms (all channels driven); THD + noise: < 0.015% Balanced & RCA inputs. Hi all, Due to an upcoming move, I have decided to put my Emotiva XPR-5 amplifier up for sale. The amplifier has been stored on a Quadraspire Sunoko-Vent T Bamboo Hi-Fi Rack in a dedicated media room (smoke free environment). The amp has effortlessly powered everything I've hooked up to it, from B&W 600 series speakers, bookshelf speakers, and B&W Diamond series speakers. The amp was purchased from Emotiva USA. Given the sheer weight of this beast (42.63kg), and to save my back, pick up is preferable. I am happy to arrange a demo for genuine buyers.
  11. Hi all, Whilst technically speaking this product is neither a projector nor a screen, I couldn't think of a more relevant area to post this information as it is of particular use to the owners of JVC Xx00 model projectors. Some of you may be aware of other products in the HDFury range , namely the Integral and the Linker. Basically they make little boxes that are placed in the A/V chain to overcome HDCP / EDID /HDMI / Upscaling problems. https://www.hdfury.com/ With the introduction of the Xx000 series JVC UHD projectors , there was a lot of frustration with JVC's proprietary Gamma D and the loss of the Dynamic Iris with 4k/UHD bluray discs. Then Arve came along and created his customizable gamma curves to replace gamma D. But every time the metadata on the disc told the PJ it as a UHD disc it would default to gamma D, and you'd have to manually select an Arve curve . After a recommendation from Manni01 on AVS, HDFury added some functionality to their Linker product whereby it would trick the PJ into not seeing the HDR metadata, and therefore stay in whatever custom gamma mode the user had set as default and better yet allow the use of the DI. Personally, I've owned and used a Linker since March, 2017 and have been enjoying stellar performance in 4k UHD/HDR ever since. Then HDFury announced a new product combining the funtionality of the Integral and the Linker, and also incorporating some new features. I thought, I was happy to stay with the Linker..................until earlier this week. Now Manni has been talking to the HDFury team and they have written a macro into the Vertex's features, controllable by an RS232 cable plugged into the JVC, that reads the metadata , and based on that information can auto-switch between User settings within the projector to select a specific profile for 1080p Bluray, 1000Nit graded UHD/HDR, 4000Nit graded UHD/HDR. So finally it looks like it will be possible to just load a disc, any disc, into the player...........and it will just .....play in the correct mode. This is a gross oversimplification of what is going on, but suffice it to say....I ordered one tonight. If you want to know more, this is where it all started: http://www.avsforum.com/forum/37-video-processors/2902961-what-does-vertex-do-over-integral-linker.html Here is a link to Manni's reveal about what this thing can do.... a much better write up than mine, but hey the thread would have looked pretty pathetic with just one link under the banner. http://www.avsforum.com/forum/24-digital-hi-end-projectors-3-000-usd-msrp/2222586-official-jvc-rs600-rs500-x950r-x750r-x9000-x7000-owners-thread-909.html#post55097696
  12. Hey guys, I have attached some pre/post calibration results for my JVC X7000. Would like to know (a) what does everything mean (b) what are we aiming to achieve for post calibration in regards to the charts. Really want to learn more about this as im planning on doing an auto cal on my new JVC X7900. Silly question but considering the new projector has been set up in the same location/same room/same environment, could I just apply the X7000 calibration results to the X7900 with a few tweaks here and there? Any feedback is greatly appreciated or any links to understand his further.

    JVC Z1s cartridge

Hey all, Hoping you guru's can advise me here. I have a JVC QL-F4 which I love dearly, it currently runs a AT95e cartridge. Its nice enough but its due for a new stylus. I also have a number of older carts including the Z1s which is probably the original for this deck. (all these carts came with the table when I purchased) By all reports the Z1s is a nice cart so I would like to get a stylus and test it out. I'm looking at the Jico SAS item. So my questions; 1) Am I crazy and should I stick with at AT unit instead? 2) Is this the right stylus - http://www.jico-stylus.com/product_info.php?products_id=1293 Confusingly its listed under "Victor Nivico", who presumably manufactured it? 3) I also have a Shure M75ED II, a Shure M75-6S and a Jelco MC-14. Are any of these half decent? The rest of my setup consists of a Cyrus 2 (+PSX which should arrive this week thanks to a forum member!) and a pair of Richter Paladin's. Many thanks, Ash
  14. seems JVC have released a so called budget pj for the masses. At $2500 U.S. its not that budgety. also note it is the dreaded DLP. hmm is it still going to be regarded as a true JVC pj? :-) http://www.avsforum.com/forum/68-digital-projectors-under-3-000-usd-msrp/2968784-jvc-lx-uh1-new-4k-projector.html#post55977410 https://www.engadget.com/2018/04/05/jvc-dlp-4k-projector/

  25. Hey Guys, Recently upgraded my JVC X7000 to the NEW X7900 and a step up over two models leaves me very happy with this unit. Aside from the massive face lift in HDR capability the low lag input is an absolute bonus as I game as much as watch movies. Straight out of the box with factory setting enabled I cant really complain however just wanted to see if anyone has any info as to what is the best mode for your standard Blu-ray viewing. Currently using factory setting for Cinema mode but wonder what the key difference would be between that and the THX settings. Looking to have the unit calibrated but very early hours on it so far. Thanks.
